Would anyone be willing to trade off one class 8 cargo slot for a class 7 and put the distributor in the class 8 slot and lose the 128T of cargo capacity? I'd be all over that like a rash...

A usual average pace is 1,000ly per day or so, that was the pace of DWE1. That's 20 to 1h per day depending on your jump range, and if you're a bit behind some week, it's slow enough that you can push one evening or on the weekend to catch up.

That's the spirit. I used to play in solo/pg a lot. TBH the game is a lot more fun in open - solo mode is a bit like playing a bioware rpg without the main plot, with just the fetch quests.

Nice strawman you got there! Did you make it yourself? May I borrow the hat? :D Just kidding a bit. When I said not my business, I meant that after all the warnings about the first rule of Elite literally everywhere, it's not my business to know why people still do it, but I did want to impress upon the OP that this problem was entirely of his own making. I don't wish to get into the whole open/solo discussion, or the morality of different gameplay types, or any of that - there are many topics that deal with that endlessly on a daily basis. I'm saying reality is what it is - Open is what it is - and ignoring the current state of affairs and pretending things are the way you want them to be rather than how they are, gets you killed. Which is exactly what happened. Open is what it is, and there are ways to survive in it. What the OP was doing isn't one of them, and trying to make him feel better over a few dozen million won't really help him - but realizing his mistakes so that he doesn't do them again, will....

Here's one. I never flew without rebuy ever since I got my first Cobra III all the way to a vette and cutter. The don't fly without rebuy, aslo known as the first rule of Elite, is so prevalent and constantly mentioned around reddit, these boards, in yt comments, etc, it's impossible to miss. Not sure what you guys are smoking when you decide to do it anyway bit hey, not my business. But that wasn't the op's only mistake. OPEN is a giant free for all PvP zone, among everything else the game offers in solo/pg. OP had a cheap Python that cost like 1/4 of an A rated one that can survive long enough to escape a player attack. I'm willing to bet OP's build was fairly squishy - logging with that into open, flying into Maia that is usually full of players, that was just asking for it. So he gets angry and name calls other players who play differently than he does. So they're dinguses who can't keep it in their pants, they would likely call him a salty carebear, both approaches equally silly and infantile. OP put...

I hate to say that the cutter has another massive disadvantage that hasn't been mentioned here, two actually, yaw pitch and roll rates akin to an asteroid base compounded by drifting like Keiichi Tsuchiya, and weapons convergance/ placement. So the power distributor just rubs salt into the wounds :-( The cutter is much to my annoyance a trade ship, and the empire has no out and out combat ships. Its not a real multi purpose as it cannot carry luxury cabins, despite its lore saying it should be able to as its used within the empire for transporting VIP's - do you really think IMPERIAL VIP's, not just ordinary VIP's but IMPERIAL VIP's fly economy? Its the most expensive ship in game, it is the most expensive to equip, and thus the highest risk as it has the highest rebuy, so it deserves to be overpowered. Check my sig, we need an imperial gunship, although I am glad to see the alliance finally getting some ships, I'd like to see them get 5 rank locked ships, then the (filthy scumbag) feds get another two...

This is the exact reason high money earning methods are nerfed. More than once Frontier have said they reduce certain methods to make them all equal, as they want to give people "choice". After Rhea, Frontier stated they didn't want people gravitating towards the easier method and ignoring other ones. So yes, Frontier do understand this - but for some reason the same logic is not being applied to the community goals.

I think Legs should come first, as IMHO it would allow a more logical development of the game. The way I see it is that there is still other things we could do with walking around space ships / star ports / space walk (EVA) then even more stuff to do on the airless planets we currently have wearing space suits. Then later when we add atmospheric planets, we can add them complete, no place holders, no drip feeding new elements, a with varying complexity of biomes to interact with and a new gold rush of exploration/science/hunting/trade. I want to see missions like "Jeweller seeks quantity of pearls from *system name* " and "Botique seeks skins for new fashion collection" such missions would seem initially like a fetch cargo cannister quests but instead of sending the player to go and grab cargo they are creating the opportunity to either grab these resources on foot on those planets, by pirating others hunting/trading/farming in these natural resources, or to trade them if my CMDR has contacts who can...

How could it have been "repossessed" when I've still got 300m in cash?

Check your hangars CMDR's - I've just found my fully engineered corvette has ceased to exist in game, its not where I left it, its not in storage / ship transfer and its not been sold as I'm still skint from recently fitting prismatics to every ship I own. I'm struggling to figure out what other ships have disappeared, but I've started a ticket on it.
