    I am very much looking forward to seeing stations smoldering with green wounds, flickering and failing lights and services, and such. Maybe some stations completely abandoned for commercial activity, and enterable and explorable as dark and spooky wrecks.

    Just my own opinion, but the existence of high-waking (without masslock) is probably the biggest reason piracy can never be much more than it is. Because it's never something which must be played through, by both CMDRs, at it's own pace. And now with several heavyweight and heavy hitting ships being able to move so very fast (which defeats the only advantage of smaller blockade runners)... There's probably no way to ever get it working otherwise.

    A trip well worth it, indeed. Even without any UA, my visit and tour in the SRV was the most atmospheric experience I've had in Elite. On my second visit, to an active site a few days later in Mobius, another CMDR was on-site and graciously let me follow along. Excellent work by all who helped to create the sights and sounds of these Thargoid sites.

    Even simple half-rate pay while they are on shore-leave would add value to keeping one or more on hire, and rotating their training. But more depth and CMDR choice would be super.

    I don't tend to think that the apparent shift in focus was been due to CQC or other elements. Really, Frontier was fixed in stone to deliver the announced 2.x feature set once they accepted the first pre-order. I had no complaints about those features back when I pre-ordered, I bought knowing that much of what was listed catered to multi-player interests, when I'm a single player CDMR. Instead, the focus of economic progress and career viability has been something which can change "between the features", so to speak. Clear decisions to make missions pay more in credits and reputation than trade and mining. Decisions to make Passenger payouts so high that even the Mission Board often looks low paying, by comparison. These decisions, IMO of course, directly undermine the fundamental play motive of Elite... the independent trader CMDR. The independent trader is a CMDR who has earned enough credits to not "need" mission pay any longer as a primary source of credits. They invest their own cash in higher...

    I would very much like to see careers exist again. At present, with mission payout so high, there is zero need to even pursue one of the game career paths to earn credit progress. In fact, staying on one of the career paths would seem to be the worst way to make any progress at all, compared to what just a few missions can offer in reputation and credits. I too am interested in what 3.0 will do toward this. However, it sometimes seems as though the trend toward this current state has been quite deliberate. Makes me wonder whether player telemetry/feedback show that vastly more players engage with missions instead of careers, and so the gameplay focus was re-centered there.
