Atmospheric planets. With discoverable wildlife on both terrains and in the seas and skies. The option to capture and return some of this wildlife for cataloging and research. Maybe missions to capture very rare species. And storms, and winds, and waves, and lightning. Some planets with a "prehistoric" feel to the ecosystem, some later and more developed. Some that are just an atmospheric dust bowl, complete with sand storms. And of course cities with landing ports, on both the surface and underwater. Yes, atmospheric planets!

Flying the ships, being a space pilot. Exploring is also fun. For me, exploration has become almost 100% being out on a planet, checkout out various terrain features. I use a Keelback with a Taipan, which I use for moving fast and low, and the SRV for getting detailed on the surface. There are so many planets to explore within 20LY of where I am in the bubble, that for a good while now I've felt little interest in going any farther.

If I may take this topic further.... What I posted above is really a fix that doesn't require a total gameplay/UI redesign. It would simply allow me to narrow the desired passenger missions, to better make use of the Passenger Ship specialty. But IMO what is really, truly needed is indeed a redesign of the Passengers gameplay system. A step away from the Missions based mechanics we currently have. A gameplay design where my ship is opened for hire based on either 1) each seat paying (essentially our current bulk passengers), or 2) each cabin being chartered (present VIP missions). How it could work: Opening the Passenger Lounge would let me set a price for what a passenger must pay for each seat in a particular cabin. Optionally, I set the price for chartering the entire cabin. The maximum I can charge per-seat or cabin is limited by both: A) the quality of the cabin itself, increasing from Economy, Business, First Class, and peaking at Luxury

I don't think there is any problem with the Beluga. Not it's design, or it's performance. Yes, it does fall short of several other ships in terms of optimal performance for it's role. But in my view, this is not a problem with the Beluga or it's internals. It's a problem with the Passenger missions system. My Beluga can carry 32 Luxury passengers, that's double the Orca's capacity of 16. And more than any other ship. But there are so few Luxury missions that this capability really doesn't matter. A rather basic change to the Passenger Missions system so that a CMDR can browse available Passengers who are seeking specific quality of passage, would dramatically help. So that a CMDR who's running a world class Luxury transit doesn't have to filter through refugees seeking any cramped conditions for transit, or a bunch of business people who only want a cost effective passage service. Allow me to browse a collection of passengers who are specifically seeking my provided level of accommodations. Even...

It's unfortunate that the game engine isn't able to detect when the ship is sitting on it's feet, and attempt transition into being "landed". Even a half-faked "landed" state, with one of the landing gear feet floating off the surface, sometimes happens even in supposedly normal landings, so it'd be fine to even have that if necessary.

So is forcing each CG into lockdown shaping up to be the next big thing?

The rares CG that was in Lockdown, I wasn't part of the CG, but flew out to bounty hunt. Much to my surprise, during each session with my doing nothing more than shooting ships at the Nav Beacon and handing in the Bounties, I had 2 Inbox/off-board mission offered per play session. These arrived while I was playing at the Nav Beacon, and of course my FdL wasn't setup for taking these. The mission offers were for data delivery, and even cargo delivery. I guess I was most surprised by this, as I had never been in that system or ever run a mission for any of those factions, as far as I'm aware. Just the bounty claims was enough to trigger the offers. EDIT: And double surprised, because the offers were all non-combat missions! I must say I never seem to get non-combat offers or follow-on missions when I'm doing non-combat play. And since I rarely (never) do combat (assisting this CG was an exception), it means that most of my offers from Passengers, Cargo, and Data missions have been Assassinations or...

Is putting some extra bounty hunting in a good idea? I'm still in-system and can do so in my next session.

For me, the answer is no. I'd not pay for ships. Reason: Ships aren't going to provide what I'm looking for, in terms of gameplay improvements. Paying for ships, as a business model, would really take away pressure on the future of improved gameplay development. And I'm not a DLC hater or anything. Back in FS9/FSX, I used to fly payware aircraft and gauge packages that totaled nearly $150 for a single plane. But in that game, everything I wanted for gameplay was either already in-game, or otherwise available from a 3rd party developer, to complete the desired gameplay experience.

I took my FdL out there to help lift the lockdown, 24 jumps at 12LY each, lol. So far about $500,000 in Bounties contributed. Hopefully the support action will be enough to get things going again by tonight.

I wasn't familiar with this GPU, but looking at some performance videos, it does appear decently capable, when the settings and resolution are matched well for it. Here's to a smooth build and getting back into play!

I have carried them out, and looked at Thargoids. But never fired. They are in storage, now. Some need to be swapped for other types, but I'll figure that out when the time comes. Once things go hot, with the Thargoids shooting first, I'll start returning fire.

All the best with it. And Elite can't be too bad on GPUs, I have a GTX 950 on my PC, and easily run high settings at 60fps. Which nVidia card did you get?
