Learn the fight mechanics by purchasing a small ship a low pitch rate like a Viper 3 or Viper 4. It's great training for the fight mechanics of high end ships like the Fer De Lance, Python, or even the Federal Corvette. And it's a much cheaper way to learn!

I care because I invested a lot of time training in the operation to keep her safe. Not because I cared if she lived or died, but it was something fun to do ;). And tbh the conclusion seemed totally fishy at the time, and felt to me like Drew had betrayed the hard work of the community, either thru his astonishingly poor piloting or thru intentionally throwing the fight. However, Mr Potter's "confession" makes me think it's actually possible that Drew's is really that bad at Elite. Which is slightly better imo, and I would like to think the best of Drew for some reason. Even though he did kinda try to pin her death on the community.

And this is why you can't be trusted. I would have taken that information to my grave.

At the time it happened, that's exactly what it looked like. And I gave Drew a hard time for not making it look more convincing, and further more for saying the (grieving) community decided her fate, just to punch us in balls when we were down. However since you're confirming my suspicions, now I'm doubting it from both ends. Lol. Way to mess with my head Harry. Going to have to start charging you rent. :P

You are absolved. Say 3 "Right on Commander"s and smuggle 10 units of illicit goods to your neighboring black market.

As I said above in the quote you snipped, it is a statement of principle (not an accusation) that cheaters shouldn't benefit from cheating. And cheating is well defined in the TOS. That is completely different from "criminal" in game acts that have in-game consequences. Not sure why you're comparing the two? They are so obviously different.

Did some tests long ago, on two or thee planets with 10+ ejecta craters. all but one had them. So about 90-95% craters will if volcanic. If i find a outcrop instead of tree's i check a second crater if there is one. Gives a good confirmation if there are tree's there.

True, instancing would play a part, but your opponent may just be lurking in supercruise too, so when you jump, they'll likely be there. Lots could happen. Lol

Not looked into the locations and ruins recently. Cant remember any being on a ruin planet with volcanism . There are many more guardian systems in the list now since i last looked properly. I suspect though you probably are right, also a very good observation if it is . Some other part of the guardian network perhaps? monoliths being the ruins interfaces, and the tree's are the server network? Thargoids use barnacles or so it appears to collect material or energy from the planet.

Possible theory... no evidence. The AI was seeking independance from the monolith network. The guardians were either split between those opposed to AI , and those for. Maybe those that sought to keep the AI, knew of the AI's intent to have a body and so created bodies for the AI, the tree's . Trapping them in a way from escaping servitude but also giving them safe bodies outside the monolith network which was under threat.

Awesome discovery Cmdr Synjorai , i wonder if Mad Scientist Melville is trapped onboard and suffocated , or did he escape? are these the ruins he was looking for? GUARDIAN HOMEWORLD,was he close ? or just insane and deluded... Braintree's on C 1 , expected them to be since guardian sites in system, around B star planets.

"by any means necessary" was the key phrase you are ignoring here. Biasing an outcome within the legitimate rules of the game (engineering, training, skill, and even treachery) is par for the course. HOWEVER, rigging an outcome with exploits and possibly cheats is clearly against the TOS and the spirit of the game. It should not be rewarded. That's not a statement about anyone in particular. That's a statement of principle.

Good luck out there. I've reset my main CMDR once and an alt once. No problem coming back from square one if you decide to return. But if not here, I hope to see you in the black somewhere.

This isn't about one pilot. It's about a principle. Trying to cast smoke screens after so much historical hot air is a bit of hollow tactic at this point. It's like the story of the wolf who cried boy. At some point it's not about that person anymore, it's about the integrity of the system itself. Do we want a game that rewards skill and effort and luck? Or do we want a game that rewards people who make every attempt to rig the outcome by any means necessary?

She needed to die. If not by HP's hand, perhaps by mine. Or the multitude of other loyal Imperials out there. The outcome was a good one. The misdirection was entertaining.

This is entirely true, and is the likely outcome if such a system was used. But, if the system could work on trends, then the timer could increase for serial offenders. Or even flip, meaning you can not enter Open or PG instead of being forced to return there.

If you don't have the speed to maintain range, then you cannot avoid getting into point blank range range either. At point blank, there is no dodging a ~500 m/s boost ram. You literally have 1s to get out of the way. If you are flying backwards with FA off then you might have a little more than 1 second to dodge. An Anaconda or Corvette isn't dodging a bullet the size of a football stadium in 1s by leaning on the transverse thrusters. That's like dodging a whole city block that is flying at you at 1.5x the speed of sound. If a competent Cutter wants to ram you and you're not also in a Cutter (or something faster) then you're going to get rammed.

If a ship has a 150 m/s forward velocity advantage then it can ram you with impunity. Reversky won't do much when you go backwards at 266 with FAoff and they go forwards at nearly 500 m/s. Not much you can do against a competent Cutter rammer. Maybe you haven't met one yet? Well I haven't met a heat Exploiter either so I guess it's possible. Once you do, then you'll know what I'm talking about here. Heat weapons have nothing on Cutter rammers. Cutter 10000 MJ shields + 500 m/s Rams = Exploit = Heat Cannons
