    Just imagine if they all opened their ramps at once, they would all clip through each other and the entire base may well just vanish! That or it would do a divide by zero and obliterate the universe.

    Clearly atmospheric landings (or even just atmospheric flight as a first step). 1a. It adds and builds up to the existing gameplay, expands ED in the direction which was the reason I (personally) purchased it in the first place. (I know, others want space legs for the same reason. I respect that, but I still differ.) 1b. For moving around on those planets, we have the SRV. While leaving it might be nice, we already can interact with planetary features. (I still agree, that exploring alien ships and narrow structures by foot migth have its own merits.) 2. I would love to experience all the atmospheric effects (clouds, lightnings, rain) and gameplay opportunities while flying around in VR. 3. The ability to land on those barren worlds made them so much more real. Without the landing part, planets are merely painted balls. The ability to land on them gives them “substance” - even without acting out the actual landing part. The knowledge of the possibility is already enough! (This is why I would accept...

    They haven't even got that far :D Have you watched the lore fluff videos? They have conjured up systems that cannot possibly be rendered on Titans. The "Spider" in particular sounds awesome, but a base made up of a million derelict Idrises isn't going to appear any time soon, especially when their engine has problems drawing just two Idrises at once :(

    Everything that Flavourless, Siranui and Jukelo said. Furthermore, there is the idea of rewards for certain game activities. Do you remember the early days of planet surface discussions? The question was: yes, driving around in the SRV is fun and all ... but why should we actually do so, after the novelty did wear off? What is the actual reason for it? Well, gathering materials (elements and data from outposts) is the incentive and the reward for driving around. It gives purpose to it beyond the actual fun *) in doing so. Take it away (or bypass it) and you’ll be left with a pointless activity that indeed won’t be used much as it doesn’t add to the personal in-game progression. *) yes, yes, I know. Fun is a very personal experience and you might not enjoy driving around as much as other activities or even just a single activity (e.g. PvP combat).     Short answer: VR! Long answer: Space & space ships in VR and all what we can do in those ships... - Mining in beautiful, light-flooded planetary rings, the sun(s) sometimes covered by rocks, a huge gas giant hanging over me, taking 1\3 of the visual field ... not just on my monitor, but “me beeing there” - Exploring and descending to foreign planets, driving around, standing on an alien mountain gazing over an endless plain - the whole galaxy as a background - beeing there myself (as much as I ever can hope for, at least). - Joining in fierce combat scenarios, one-on-one or in a combat zone fur ball, me litterally inbetween all those ships, using my situational awareness to spot the current enemy, the highest threat or simply my next target - with some hefty metal music to accompany the figth, bringing me into an actual flow experience. - Using not only a VR headset for all of this, but also a complete control environment with HOTAS and pedals, which makes flying my ships/driving the SRV a “whole...

    After claiming your reward, notification they will have disappeared with the next log-in. But yes, I think I remember the panel once updated immediately. I have no idea though, whether the current behavior is an actual bug or due to some networking optimization (in order to lower the amount of data necessary for constant updates). It might be intentional, as FDev just recently added a 10 minuets updating frequency to the CG missions notification, which was considered a step forward (and my memory might simply fail me here).

    Fixing the current overload of bugs such as mission boards not loading entirely and lots of disconnects on PS4, tweaking rare mats spawn rate, core gameplay fixes like incentivizing Open play, Downgrading the Powercreep, Engineers, fixing BGS manipulation from the shadows and such, those should take priority over legs or landings. Can't continue to build more and more stories over a rotten foundation. Whole building will crumble…eventually . + I'm out of rep.

    Not to the outposts no, they are always to stations or planetary bases. It's easier, or quicker more accurately, to pick them up if you have an outpost capable ship simply because there are more places you can check in many systems but if the question is basically 'is this worthwhile doing using a large pad ship such as an Orca, Anaconda of Beluga', I'd say yes. Put it this way; I could have spent an hour looking for the missions I took today and my earnings would still have averaged out at 30m per hour. Mission boards in the surrounding systems are variable but there's no secret to it, they vary with the BGS effects like all systems. If you're not into mission board relogging (I'm not but I don't particularly care what anybody else does) find somewhere with plenty of stations in boom, or better yet in outbreak or famine although it's not that common deep inside the bubble, and you should be fine.

    You can get to both of them, you just need to plot your route around Col 70 sector, i.e. find the edge of it and work round it. I was in Orion and the Flame nebula last week.

    Depends. Of the six missions I had stacked earlier five of them were non-VIPs. The only VIP was the clown who though I would do a 0.21LY detour in what was already a 0.14LY trip for 60k credits, which oddly enough is exactly why I don't usually bother with VIPs. I tend to pick up for long range passenger missions in systems that have three or four stations at least, do a quick sprint round them and then set off. Obviously it's easier to find systems like that in a medium pad capable ship than a Beluga but when you factor in planetary bases too it's not that bad. Because I only really do long range passengers (long range within the bubble I mean, i.e. long flights to stars) I don't mind spending 10 or 15 minutes traveling around to pick up some choice missions because the payday is worth the effort.

    The explanation given for this in a previous dev post was that the credit payment is so low because the material and commodity rewards make up the rest of the payment. So that's one unit of one of the most common materials in the game, plus four telemetry suites which are no longer used for engineering anything and will get you about twelve grand depending on where you sell them. Don't spend it all at once :D On the subject of passengers though, probably worth me saying here that when I landed with my passengers (see previous page) and checked the board, there were three passenger missions to Colonia and nearby systems which paid 45m, 44m and 36m respectively.

    There was much attention paid to the "vertical slice" comment by DB before gamma release, and many peeps, myself included, were interested in what that would exactly involve, because there were many hints that "stuff" had been deliberately hidden from us. When it turned out to be not much of anything special, we just got on with the game. It's evolved since then of course, but a great deal of "it's out there, you just need to find it!" devolved into "meh"

    NMS suffered massively because of the hype around it and although some of that is down to Hello Games themselves, a lot of it isn't. The biggest problem HG had in my opinion was not hiring a quality PR and Community Manager when it became obvious that the snowball effect was in operation because one thing Sean Murray will never be is a comfortable communicator. Much of the game's problems were rooted in a failure of information (and expectation) management as much as anything else. He did his best but some of the interviews with him are almost painful to watch as he literally squirms in front of the camera whilst trying to work out how to answer questions. That's understandable - when you look at their output prior to NMS, it's basically niche/cult games that sold tiny numbers; OK most of their staff weren't new to the industry but to go from that to making a game with the vast number of pre-orders NMS had is such a huge step up it needed a completely different approach.     Mate, as I said in my post I've been flying Pythons for well over a year. I know what the ship can and can't do and there is literally no npc in the game that can take it out if flown properly. Not one. Note - I assumed from the post I replied to that the poster was talking about PVE. In PVP yes, it's a totally different story. Exactly.

    I'm currently en route to Katzenstein Dock in 36 Ophiuchi which I think I'm right in saying is the second most distant station from an entry point at 0.14LY. Flight time is pretty much bang on an hour. Why am I doing it? Because when I land, I'm banking 64.2m credits from my six passenger missions. Funniest thing is one of them offered me a detour side-mission. It was to the 'For The Mug' visitor beacon which, if memory serves, is at Hutton Orbital. She's paying me just over 8m credits for the main journey, which is 0.14LY. For the detour, which would have been another 0.21LY, she generously offered me another 60k credits. Unsurprisingly she is no longer on board :D
