Well, historically unions haven't just defended existing rights, but created them. 3rd party tool operators want rights so they've decided to fight for them. This was nothing to do with rights over content; that would have been the case if fd was telling them to cease their activities (and they wouldn't have had a leg to stand on) but it's quite the opposite situation.. Fd & the players want these tools up & running. Of course it's not a 'real' union situation, they're not employees, but the action taken is a similar parallel.
