I really don't think anyone thinks that FD does any of this on purpose. I am convinced they mean well, and have to balance priorities, CG backlogs, etc. and surely thought they were adding something fun. But these things keep happening, which breeds frustration. For those invested in the BGS, godmodding really is deeply discouraging and turns people away from the game. While at the same time, we know that we're creating fantastic stories, epic tales, conflicts and drama that could easily fill lore novels. We all would love to share those stories with the rest of the community, if only to show them what happens in the galaxy, and how engaging BGS play can be. Many in our group probably wouldn't play anymore, if it weren't for the group activities, the joint achievements, and the deep attachments that grow over time both for factions and systems, and each other. This living breathing galaxy, it exists! Life is breathed into it every day by the actions of BGS CMDRs (and everybody else, but the BGS...

Players have been playing the BGS since well before there were PMFs. It's why our PMF has a procedural name. Because we supported Wolf 406 Transport & Co well before any PMFs got into the game.

Bringing PvP into the discussions shows you have no understanding of what is being discussed here.

There is no such expectation among BGS players. No special protections are ever asked for. This is not what this is. This is FD godmodding and changing the shape of the galaxy by *magic*. If anything, FD creates protected entities, breaking the BGS either in Colonia or in the bubble. Keeping certain systems off limits from the BGS, even changing mechanics to ensure that certain BGS accomplishments may never occur again. So you got the wrong end of the stick. Nobody is asking for faction protection. BGS players are asking for FD to commit to the sandbox, and NOT to override mechanics by themselves.

I think you'll find that most here getting worked up about this are BGS players, who have seen similar things happen again, and again, and again, Jeff...

Absolutely! That would be only natural. They would do it if something conflicted with their railroad story line.

Interesting things with the BGS would be changing BGS mechanics. Not inserting new factions blindly that weren't there before and giving them assets. That's not interesting. That is godmodding. That is breaking the BGS deliberately.

Whether through carelessness or malice doesn't really matter. They should as part of the process always just do a quick galmap check. It seems they never do. And then when one part of the company doesn't know what the other does.....? Yes, I would call that "not caring". Or at least "lack of care".

then don't sell it as a sandbox where you can blaze your own trail

That is absolutely terrible. I am speechless... My deepest sympathies - as a member of a group that usually sees BGS achievements ignored by FD, or blocked, seeing the result of months wiped out through, i presume, sheer carelessness and lack of coordination by FDev is stomach-turning. As so often, FDev operates on a completely different galaxy than the one we actually live in in-game.

I am a BGS player, involved in an ongoing Alliance conflict with the Federation. Me and my group make our own content. Much more fun than Thargoids or CGs

That unease, you're feeling, CMDRs? It is having no choice. It is playing out a role defined for you by others, where you have no influence on the outcome, but can say you were a part of it. Book plots are for books, not interactive multi-player video games Let's hope FD gets this out of their system with 2.4, and in 3.0 we can return to a, hopefully, ever increasing sandbox.

The Alliance, of course! The only place with true self-determination, mutual defense among members, and slavery is illegal, but tobacco and onionhead is cool. And we got Lavian Brandy and Perez Beer!

AEDC continues to hold the southern border of the Alliance with the Federation. High stakes BGS play, all the time.

welcome back! Hope it was primarily a question of power, and you otherwise made it through relatively unscathed... More Thargy CGs, more forum drama.

Hold on. There is a disclaimer on _any_ CG that BGS states can influence outcomes. What are you really asking for? You want a change to how the BGS works across the galaxy, just to protect CGs? That happen once a week in one system? That's.... completely out of proportion. The BGS is the best part of this game. Don't mess with it to support a boring one.

While I appreciate the sentiment of the OP, and I think #1 should be possible, I think #2 is hard, and #3 impossible. Or rather #3, even if technically feasible, would fix the tick time at annoying moments for someone depending on their time zone. You may think the 12AM UTC tick was great, but I hated it, as it put it at 3PM California time. So, even if fixed, at what time? And who will you decide to make unhappy.

oh! fun thread! I own all the big 3, but the conda never got out of a budget trade loadout. The grind for the Corvette and Cutter, IMO, are absolutely worth it. I got so much pleasure out of the vette, and frankly, the only reason why I no longer fly it is because it is the undisputed God ship, and combat just wasn't very challenging with it. I got the Cutter maybe 2-3 months ago, and love it to bits -- but probably for reasons others would hate it: it is so involved to fly! The only ship i pretty much have to anticipate my movement 3-4 secs in advance, and use FA Off for acceleration and turns across multiple axes. Making it effective in combat with fixed weapons keeps me completely engaged. But I am not an exclusively big ship guy by any means. Both FGS and Python are "so good, I have two", my dolphin is my go-to explo ship, Orca my default passenger ship, and if the Keelback had bigger hard points, I'd do more with that, too. I used to fly the AspX a lot, and early in my career flew the vulture,...
