I fly in open whether I'm at home in Colonia or in the Bobble. Worst experience of it was trying desperately to give away gold at Cleve Hub to new players with no replies to my offer :(

:) Thanks, I'll remember that. I tried the second-monitor-to-do-additional-tasks setup once. I found out that I'm very bad at multi-tasking (and extremely good at sun-diving).

Alt-right is like the Star Citizen of politics. Aaaaaaany day now. Props for insulting random demographics, its a great way to lose whatever credibility you may have had. And for what it is worth, I am super jealous of youngsters with a good education too. :) The loss of Wilders doesnt count. Merkel's party doing well in Germany doesn't count. The double-victory of Macron doesn't count. The relative loss of May doesn't count. Really, the revolution is coming. Aaaaaaaaaaany day now. :D

We have found zero cases of intelligence outside sol. The math doesnt point towards anything, and you cant run statistics on such a limited dataset. We could be alone, the milky way couldbe filled with intelligent lufe. Noone knows, and any guess is as realistic as any other.

Ha, well, to be precise you will need something ofcourse. I dont know what kind of pitches you have to give them in the field of human genome research, but in biological psychology/neuroscience its more about how to sell actual results as success stories. :p For example, there have been well over a million papers on Alzheimer's disease by now. We're pretty much no closer to helping actual patients than we were 40 years ago. If that had been part of the pitches, noone would have gotten anything. So you window-dress whatever funding application you're doing, vaguely hint at Amazing Breakthroughs, then inevitably end up with a stack of 'ho-hum-papers' 'on-the-other-hand-who-really-knows-it-is-very-complicated' results and 'more-funding-is-required' conclusions. Ofcourse, the flip-side is that, while the pressure may be a bit lower, its easy to become rather nihilistic about the whole affair...

As a research scientist: we fail to deliver on our pitch all the time. So much so that noone on the inside seriously believes the pitches anyway. Soemtimes you get lucky and everything falls your way. Usually somewhere something just doesn't pan out and you're left with nothing but a giant bill and a stupid grin on your face. Same goes for heart surgeons. Sure, routine surgery should go well (and it isn't even that hard, relatively speaking). But when cases become more novel, more urgent, with less routine to fall back on: stuff happens. And people die. It sucks, but it is the way it is. Being a rocket scientist is hard, but generally they can get the stuff flying. Push the envelop and suddenly the failure rate shoots up. Of the 550 or so people who went into space, 4% died. It sucks, but it happens. So here's the deal: when you want people to move into new frontiers, accept failure as a distinct possibility. In the case of ED noone is dying, so thats a big plus. We also ended up with a cool game that is...

In case you didn't notice it, CIG has been having *massive* issues with AI. Its not 'the easy bit'. Pretty sure they've shown a mission including some mocap from SC, just not Sq42. Same thing, really.

Huh? I never said anything about 'all', 'most' or any kind of proportion. Anyway, you seem to be very interested in something I didn't say, and have little interest in, so I am back into the pool. :P

Lol, you cannot claim there is a dimensional trait, and then claim there is no end of the dimension. Dimensions by definition have upper boundaries, and I use one to define a term. :) Feel welcome to define things differently, but do understand its not a 'logical fallacy'.

Yes, which is why I added the word 'true', which means here 'the far end of the scale'. And 6xes firmly lives there. :)

The true religious mind cannot grasp 'or'. You have to randomly pick something and defend it to death, claiming it is 'truth'. Any reasoning more complicated than that is perceived as 'not knowing the Truth'.

Sure, but at least it is something. Maybe boring crap, but still. A single player story-based game with story and AI isnt anything at all. So I can see a mvp sc release before sw42.

Because it requires content, whereas a MVP SC could be just, well, space. You dont need AI, mocap, storylines or anything for SC, you could claim 'emergent content' will fill it, plus future updates. In a singleplayer experience that simply dont fly. AI needs to prevent some kind of challenge. There needs to be a story of sorts, and all the mocapped data needs to turned into an actual experience for the end-user. Beyond that, I doubt everything The Agent has been saying for over a year, its mostly trolling. Fun maybe, but trolling nevertheless.
