Some people seem to go for prismatics to stack MJ as much as possible, I don't see it that way. Prismatics are effectively offering shields that are normally one class higher, so that got me thinking about using them to work around limitations on some of the ships I own.
With the Cobra MkIV I can drop to a class 3 and have shields as strong as a normal class 4 while using the rest for cargo, 80 tonnes. That's alot for such a small ship. Or I can use it to keep my normal 4A amount of shields and free up a utility slot of which there are only 2.
Same thing with my Keelback and DBX. Low powered enhanced prismatic in one of the class 3 slots and I can have fairly decent shields like my current class 4 shields and have room for 2 SRVs. Most serious explorers would d-rate most of it, I'm building all my ship to be combat capable. Orca being the exception.
