They'll hit everywhere, at the same time, as they've been breeding non-stop for 200 years. They outnumber us 25 to 1.

Those aren't scare quotes, those are I-don't-need-a-heated-debate-over-semantics quotes.. the Else don't bother me, unless they're actively bothering me - and that holds true for every single entity out there.

Ballard Survey in Suhte at 8.04 ly is the closest. Even a Sidewinder can make that trip. See, I told you, suffering is a cultural requirement. It's not properly British if it doesn't suck just a little.

I'm actually quite pleased with my Holo-Me.. it took me quite a while to get it just right. Then I put the helmet on and tinted it black. It suits my character, but generally speaking, I have a very not-ugly holo-me. NPC's on the other hand.. I've said it for quite some time: They look like they fell from the top of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down,

Ladies and Gentlemen, and those who consider themselves something "else", we have a winner! If asked, I would say there are no ship yards at Engineer bases for a couple reasons: 1. Those bases are supposed to be something of a secret. If you remember, as I do, they do not show up in the system map until you actually have access to that particular engineer. AND, if you do happen to find one of these bases before you actually have access, you cannot request docking, and they will shoo you away if you fly close. 2. As part of maintaining their low profile, the presence of a ship yard would draw attention to their existence. 3. Being a British-made game, a certain amount of suffering is culturally required. We must suffer the pains of only being able to ship our ships to the nearest port in the same system, and we must keep a stiff upper lip while we do so.

Nor did I say you did, actually - I think what we had going there was really an exercise in semantics... and perhaps a clash over presentation. It happens, and I don't hold it against anyone.

Billion Credits? Check A-Rated Anaconda? Two of them, check. Corvette? A-rated, check. Cutter? A-rated, check. My complaint? There is nowhere I can go and no amount of credits I can spend, to purchase a single Exquisite Focus Crystal, Thermic Alloy, or Conductive Ceramic. I have to look for these things, and hope my sacrifices to RNGesus have pleased him - just like everyone else.

Vulture is a good choice for something relatively inexpensive with a good bang for your buck. I won't have much time tonight, as I'm leaving for vacation, but if you catch me on, we can wing up, as I'm currently parked out in the area. If you're not much of a combatant, having a wing mate that knows which direction to point their guns can be a huge help.

But what do you get with it? A laminate card for your wallet and 10% off on a cup of tea at Ye Olde Starbucks on Thursdays? I've a few merits to my name as well, though none are British, since I don't live there and only visited once, but some people do like making big deals of things, and there's nothing wrong with it.. but truth be told, it's usually not much of big deal really.

That IS my point. It may never come to pass. It might, we just don't know. And even if it does, there's nothing to guarantee it will do so in any manner that is consistent with any of the Concept Art, or even adhere to established Lore. It may take an entirely new form, with just a pinch of retcon to make it fit our current worldview (in Elite, that is), much like Telepresent SLF pilots.

I've actually picked up limpets I have jettisoned, on purpose, when I've started running low while prospecting - so it's nice they hang around for a while. And now, for something entertaining... I recently took on a few mining missions, and while gathering my quota of Crystal Meth (Methanol Monohydrate Crystals), I had an NPC miner decide to come mine the same rock I was mining. Didn't think much of it, NPC miners just do their thing and don't really bother anyone, so I left him to his mining, and worked on mine. Now, being in a far more efficient rig, I had nearly finished my mining, and was just waiting for my collectors to finish collecting, when I noticed they seemed to be committing lemming-style suicide, so I moved my ship to see what the problem might be, and that's when I noticed... They were picking up the chunks the NPC was mining. Now since the NPC wasn't using Collectors, he'd chip and scoop the hard way. Sometimes as he dove in, my Collector would move to avoid him and smack into the...

Can Our Ships Go Under Water? Right now: No. They can't even go into an atmosphere. In the Future: We don't know. We don't even know if or when they will be able to enter an atmosphere. Yes, a Concept Art, which is not in the game, was made that showed this. We've also seen videos of Commanders walking around, and of other individuals physically present on the bridge of ships. We've seen video of glorious battles between Capital Ships.

It happens to all of us at some point - though I might suspect a Submarine would be capable of operating in space far easier than a space craft would be able to operate under water. A hull designed to withstand crushing pressures should, at least in theory, hold up much better in no pressure than a hull designed to operate in no pressure operates under pressure. And then there's this:

Then I'd suggest working on critical thinking skills - the point is not hard to get, unless one is being intentionally obtuse - even in games, concept art and finished products are seldom the same. But let me turn this way down for you: Here's some of Ben Andrews concept art: That's a nice, icy world, isn't it?

All I can do is roll my eyes... Words like this have no more power than what they are given, and far too many give far too much power to far too many words. REAL change can never happen as long as this sort of censorship is allowed to take place. Take the false power from these words and then change can happen.

Because we don't hold positions of power - we hold Honorary Titles - meaning we are afforded the same kind of respect by these Power Navies as someone who actually DOES hold those ranks and titles. We get our parking validated, but we do not command any forces. We do not dictate the laws. We don't even get invited to briefings - but we might get invited to the cocktail parties afterwards - at least I do.

Weight is very different than pressure. A 10 G planet with no atmosphere exerts no atmospheric pressure on a ship. It's the water pressure that crushes ships. Some day we may get to experience this with Gas Giants, when we try to dive too deeply into their massive atmospheres and are crushed like egg-shells under a few thousands tons of atmospheric pressure much in the same manner.

I would think, at best, most ships would be able to land on the surface of the water. Any underwater exploration would be done by means of a ship-launched submersible. I could potentially see the Saud Kruger line as being capable of sub-aquatic operation, but those might be the exception, not the rule. It would certainly up the niche of Saud Kruger ships, making them Space, Air, Land and Sea touring ships.
