Dale - perhaps it would be better served for both clearing the backlog and going forward in terms of just general flow to simply always include at least one Community CG each week in addition to whatever internal CG's are slated. I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but when it comes to CG's I do like having options. This week, I don't really have any options, as a trip to Colonia is far more than I can manage in a week's time (it takes me a good 10 days to travel 5000 Ly - so a trip to Colonia would take me a little over a month ). I know I've seen far more than 2 or even 3 CG's running at one time, so it really shouldn't be a stretch to go "Ok, here's this week's CG's AND we pulled this Community CG out of Sandro's hat..." Just a thought.

For me... it was already done by the time I got to unlocking these engineers. I spent the first month of my gaming time learning and trying everything there was to do, including mining, which I found to be the most amazing "I want to be on Elite, but I don't really want to PLAY Elite" activity. Launch a prospector, if I like what it finds, fire the mining beams, otherwise, try again, then deploy the collectors and wait. So by the time I unlocked Selene and Bill all I had to do was find the Painite and Bromellite they needed. Mining is still my favorite I-want-to-not-play activity.

Two things that are badly needed: 1. Hold Fire 2. Reload There's absolutely nothing like getting to that lull in a high intensity conflict zone, where you've blown up all the ships of the opposing faction and you're waiting for the next wave to spawn, only to have 3 rounds in one multicannon, 12 rounds in another, and 1 round in the last. Hello? Reload? It takes longer for the multicannons to spin up than it does to fire off those rounds, which results in an angry enemy ship while your guns are reloading. And yes, Hold Fire would be a blessing too - nothing like watching a ship erupting with internal explosions working their way to the outside, while your guns continue to pound that 0% hull like they're trying to reach -1%

Here's the thing about programmers, because I know at least 4 too many. They're an odd lot, and not all of them work in offices or cubicles. One I know does have an office, and will walk into it on a Monday, after the morning meeting, close and lock the door behind him, and not leave until Wednesday evening. His office is largely devoid of furnishings, instead he has an over-sized beanbag chair, a projector, a mini-fridge, a microwave and little cook top. And when he leaves on Wednesday, he doesn't return until the following Monday. He's also one of the best at what he does, and is afforded his little excentricities. Another I know does most all of his programming on a laptop, which goes with him where ever he might be - which has included the beach, amusement parks, and a camp site on Mt. Fiji. Like the above, he is an industry leader in his line of work and has worked for little companies like Microsoft and Adobe in the past. Again, his level of aptitude affords him a great deal of leeway.

There once was a pilot named White, Who traveled faster than light. She left on Thursday, in a relative way, And returned on the previous night.

I couldn't agree more. I do very much understand there is no "Click Here to Become a Federation Rear Admiral" or "Click Here to Become a Duke in the Empire" button, and people really have it in their head that having a Corvette or a Cutter will somehow add inches to where they need them - which they won't but that's another story for another thread... It does take some doing to get access to these ships, not normally sold to "the general public". In many ways I liken what is involved with obtaining one of these ships to what is involved in legally owning a fully automatic firearm in the US, in those States that permit it - a lot of Federal Paperwork, Payoffs, and waiting, and waiting and waiting. And believe me, I know all about it - I own two and the paperwork was headache, the costs were high, and it took over six months to get the approval back - and the costs are non-refundable to boot! Likewise, if you REALLY wanted, you could purchase an aircraft carrier - the HMS Illustrious went to auction...

That's not entirely true - I have found free-floating painite around Obsidian Orbital, in Threat 2 or Threat 3 signal sources, usually around with a few canisters of toxic waste. But you can mine it faster than you can fill up with it here.

I still use this stuff for etching glass. It's nasty business, but it produces delightful results.

Switch to a cannon-based loadout and you can bang-bang instead of pew-pew.

In-game racing would actually be the easiest thing to implement - pick a starting point, pick a destination, set a time limit greater than 0:00 and off you go. Record the amount of time remaining when the race mission is complete, compare recorded times to determine the winner. Done. CQC already is in the game, it's called Open.

Should read: "The target-shooting audience". Does that help?

Congrats, and welcome to the Type-9 club! It's one of my favourite ships. Wait till you engineer it and it's a pure joy to fly, with a view from the cockpit that is unparalleled.

I set my sights on a python fairly early on, when my credit balance was in the low 5-digits. The price seemed almost impossible. 48+ million? But a week later, when I was sitting with 54 million in my bank, I resisted. I knew I could afford it, but I also knew I wouldn't be able to outfit it, or cover the rebuy cost, so I waited and pressed on for another week, when I was topping just a little over 200 million, and still I was hesitant. But I gave in, took a chance, bought and outfitted it, and loved it long and hard. Now I'm floating about with a little over a billion credits, and I still buy new ships cautiously. I recently bought my second Imperial Clipper, outfitted it - still need to engineer it, but I'm not in the mood right now to fly around in circles landing on planets. I'm trying really hard to not read this as "but I want it NOW", and failing. The only real problem I see is the massive diminishing returns on the rate of rank gain - when completing one mission once awarded a 5% gain drops to...
