it should be rather easy to test ... fixed height of ~20 m, some 0,5-1G planet, disengage FAOFF, once with bulkhads, once without, note damage?

same here, so that's anecdotal evidence; as for testing see below :-/ i did a test, test showed nothing of it ... the problem here is to reverse engineer a bug, as it is unclear under which conditions it happens. my test can't confirm any of that.

Yes indeed - you can send a friend request to any other player, and if they accept, you can see which system they are in on the galaxy map - I suspect a good few people's friends lists grew quite a bit last night. Sorry you didn't know that. FWIW - I also didn't know that Salome and the others were accepting all friend requests, and I only figured that out afterwards. I suspect that will be one of the lessons learned from this - if you want to run an event like this and the entire focus is on a small group of characters, they should put it in the event rules that all friend requests will be accepted by those characters. Also, there have been other big community events run by groups, in particular the Hutton Truckers, but they were not all based on one particular character or a few surviving the event - it was more of a convoy, with the lead group broadcasting openly on Twitch, and others were simply encouraged to make their own fun. In this case, it was more difficult because the event, by...

Yes, Fleetcomm is the preferred group for this. Anyone who doesn't have access should request.

i always wanted to run a test on that ... for ramming collisions it has no effect (beside mass) - and that was tested nicely by combat guys. whether that translates to damage from planetary landings - no idea.

goemon replied to a thread Asp Explorer Asp Explorer - Can you combat?! in Ships of Elite
yep, speed/manouverability for standard A-E-class thrusers increase till 50% optimal mass ... in game that's the value of "minimum mass".

There were two layers of protection. COR were really providing the inner protection. Outer protection was organised by PAC, who self appointed themselves to do it - it was up to commanders whether to follow PAC's instructions or not. He was probably winged with PAC folks. That said, I've heard quite a few stories of him meeting players in places, having a nice chat with them about whatever, and then suddenly attacking them without warning - anecdotal as I was not there.

^^ Did you read the article - she wasn't going to make it because already heavily damaged and had been attacked many times before that during the journey

Hutton mugs are not given away just for going to Hutton Orbital - indeed, you have to do something much sillier than that usually.

Off topic but I was wondering about a comment in the log about "damaging my FSD by forcing quick jumps" - what does that mean? I never even knew you could do that.

Also, HP, like all other opposition, had a right to participate in the event and within the game mechanics. Drew could have come up with a plan that would have almost 100% succeeded if he survived the first system by doing other things, including wiping his friends list - however, if he had done that, the forums would be full of threads about how boring it was and how the opposition had no chance. Also friends lists work both ways - they knew where HP was as well. It was necessary to give the other side a chance of succeeding, otherwise there is no suspense.

First off, that's nudging rather than scripting - you can't be 100% sure he will do that and if he thought it was exactly what you wanted him to do, he might do the opposite as their MO is to spite players. Others are suggesting he was actually in league with Drew an it was a rehearsed plot. Second, as I understand it, it was not Drew who allowed HP to join the outer (note not inner) defence cordon white list. That was their decision - they were left to organize that outer defence as they saw fit. They made a choice that seems at first glance a bad one. However it may not be so cut and dried - having this situation meant that they knew where HP was at all times. I doubt that they were surprised by what happened, but maybe their reaction plan failed.

As I posted on another thread, either the event was scripted, or Harry can't be trusted. It can't be both.

You are not going to get banned for explaining your opinion within the defined forum rules. The problems arise when people cannot express themselves without emotional responses. As for your points, I agree it was not great that a small minority of players tried to dictate how others should play. Unfortunately this will continue to be a factor in any community regardless of what the developers do to resolve it.
