Netcode is neither hardware nor software. It is a complete abomination made up by people who have absolutely no idea of what communication is.

The original Civilization and Railroad Tycoon from the early 90s were probably the first computer games (along with Elite) that really hooked me. There was also a weird little game called Floor 13 from the same era https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floor_13_(video_game) which was devilishly hard to win but strangely compelling. I think I completed it twice - every other time I was thrown out the window.

Currently, Fallout 4. With a shirtload of mods. If you havn't looked at it for a while there is some great stuff on the Nexus nowdays. It's really revived the game. The Long Dark. A perennial obsession Civ VI. Off and on all the time Cities Skylines. With even more mods than Fallout 4. Man this is an addictive game. No Man's Sky. Every now and then, but it doesn't hook me anymore. Star Citizen. Still testing, still waiting. One day this might really be awesome. I did dust off ED recently, after not playing for months, to see what 2.3 was like. Meh.

Yeah, my first computer game was played on a CDC Cyber running Kronos OS while I waited for it to run stats programs - we thought it was the mutt's nuts because it had keyboards for input and real teletype printed output. Big iron gaming - nothing like it :D As for Elite Dangerous - bring back "the bubble", I say. The most fun I had was during late beta testing.

I liked it when flying with fligh assis off was a true measure of skillful flying. I was rubbish at it but used it on my T9. I enjoed havning to find black markets rather than just looking them up. I liek the dagressive and acutally dangerosus NPC hunter killers that tested both comabt and flying. I i liked the slow credi progression becasue gaining something like a paython was a real big deal, PLayer wirten articles ion Galne made the gaem more alives rather than the meaingless feed about ecnomc booms etc in systems that no one cares about and empty CGs that boild down to go grind over here for x thsi week. DOnt worry it wil be a win and teh narriative wil be pointless or predetermiend. Im goig to bed. Im clearly jaded

Sadly, it's been a thing for years :( However, they've had a few days to work on things, surely that SQ42 demo must be ready by now :)

Only if you have the correct materials. But yeah... pretty much, like using wasd to fly out the ship and Mouse 1 to kill enemy ships.

Ben Ryder replied to a thread Meta Discussion Stealth ship - thoughts & recommendations in Ships of Elite
The main thing I would like to see for stealth ships is a switch to turn off external lights and engage an internal dim red emergency light. What good is slent running etc if you are lit up like a easter tree

Screenshot of missions result. You can see that the pirate faction that was the target of the destroy pirate mission has gained influence. It should lose influence.

Just because he's the president doesn't mean he suddenly loses his own personality and his own self interest and agenda or do what is 'right' for the citizens. Take a look at real life. No need for Caps. I was using Hudson as an example, Could just have easily used any other of the power play personalities.

To me, elite has always been about the story of my personal Pilot. All this Gumph about presidents assassinated, Alien ruins, and Generation ships is nice to watch on Youtube but its now why i Play the game.

/\ This. Totally agree. I really hope that for 2.4 FDev have decided to step back from the game and just evaluate how close / far it is from the DDF. I mean, even if they just clear ups some internal consistency, and make 2.4 about QOL changes, I'd be happy.

Or, you know, they could have just stuck to the DDF. Those were all fantastic ideas. The NPC crew one I particularly like.

Mind you - some interesting theories present themselves. I've only tested on PC. Off to try the Mac and XB1 versions :D
