FoxTwo replied to a thread Wormhole in Dangerous Discussion
I would venture a guess here - if there is any evidence that wormholes exist, FD would be more inclined to add them to the game. As it is, wormholes are just theory right now (as per my understanding). It looks like they could exist in math but nobody ever found one. Unlike black holes, where astronomers have managed to pinpoint a few. Personally I don't really care either way. If wormholes exist in the game but they don't go where I wanna go, I still wouldn't use them :D

Having a long jumprange is basically just "insurance" to me... in case I get into a patch of space sparse with stars, a small jump range would not allow me to go forwards (the next star(s) my be out of range) and I would have to backtrack. This is "not good" when I have a destination I want to get to (maybe like Beagle Point). Certainly when I have a set destination to get to I'd use max-range jumps whenever I can (eg to Sag A*) but if I'm just "out for a stroll" I could use either economic or max-range, depending on my whims.

Ok here's an update. My 3D kit arrived. Easily installed. Can't figure out where that cable with that PS2-like connector is supposed to go to, didn't install it (yeah I know it's not a PS2... looks like a Vesa cable maybe? S-video?). Everything else works. Installed Helix Mod, and fired up ED. 3D mode in options disabled. Everything looked wonky - layers of flat sprites everywhere. The only thing 3D-ish is the HUD. I hit CTRL-ALT-F11 to disable compatibility mode. That is where, I guess, the Helix Mod took over, and suddenly ED sprang into 3D instead of layers of flat sprites, like that row of flat gauges. Used the Helix Mod keys to tweak at first, and still needed to use Nvidia's hotkeys for further fine-tuning. Eventually got something which I'm comfortable with. So, currently, Depth is at approximately 45 to 50% (used to be called Stereo Separation). I would have liked Convergence at the point where the gauges popped out of the monitor towards me though, but at that setting I can't read the...

Ah, cool. What about my other question: Reason I ask is cause I have an engineered conda but not an engineered fdl. Though I'd understand if your fdl doesn't want to take that fight.

Or it would be if we could go a day without some sdc dude starting a thread about sdc.

If I show up in an scb stacked anaconda, will your plasma/rail fdl take that fight? What constitutes running on your end, and does running on your end count as a loss?

Why do sdc dudes feel the need to keep trying to attention w****, both here on the forums and on reddit? Like...we get it. You shoot people. So do I. So do thousands of other commanders. We don't need a new thread about each and every ship that you've ever shot or are going to shoot. Also, 20 mil is chump change. You guys act like an insecure early 20's college girl, always fishing for compliments or validation. Are the forums/reddit SDC's version of instagram?

Yeah, given today's events, re-reading the spicy bois thread in the engineering sub-forum is just pure gold.

If they can only pvp using exploited ships, then good riddance to bad rubbish.

Yeah, I noticed that .. (OP's pic) is a Tourism commodity market. I love the idea of flogging stuff to sunburned holiday makers for a good price, I've been to Istanbul .. and Moissanite, Taaffeite and Jadeite, they're all semi precious stones. Moissanite, is even a fake .. or at least bargain basement holiday resort diamond, ha! An educational one on me +1 reps all around

*coughs* bond/bourne/ethan hunt vs global fake news ^^ *coughs* "The game's opening sequence depicts the character wrongly becoming a fugitive, and leaves the player to decide how to continue" with release in 2018 2nd half in line with movie, there is very little other choice methinks (jurrassic, xmen, predator ?!) ps. also DB does like his skunkworks ^^

It's funny, while I strongly approve of frontier taking action - I actually think they may have been a bit too lenient. In another internet spaceships game I've played, the exploiters might have been permabanned or had all of their assets seized and their credit balance set negative.

Ah .. Jadeite (quite valuable! found surface scavenging, ideally in lawless systems) .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jadeite You'll find it ready mined in cannisters at some POI sites on surfaces. Not sure if it ever turns up if you destroy mining installations but there are a couple of minerals in the same category in OP screenshot. Possibly hints at something for the future game. At the moment not possible to mine the surface yourself afaik though if people will leave it lying around and if I just happen to be passing by in SRV, obviously wouldn't mind if I do! You can sell it in commodity market (depending exactly where you got it) but don't think you can buy it anywhere.

Pardon me, but that statement is pure BS. :) You can reach billions by doing things not related to combat, at all. And you can do navy ranking without doing any combat, at all. Trading, Rare trading and Mining are the things I do in the game. :)

This sounds similar to problems that first-time users of head trackers like TrackIR have - keeping left and right panels open by looking :) I don't know about VR kits, but head trackers have software curves which control the sensitivity for head movements. Just make 'em less sensitive until you feel comfortable. Once you get used to your kit, eventually you can keep steady gaze on the panel without straining your neck, and the panels stay open until you look away. If I am off-base here, I apologise.

OK I'm just updating this thread for whoever appeared to be interested in my "progress" in 3D Vision (I know, not really VR). Kit arrived today. Installed Helix Mod. Started ED, toggled "Compatibility Mode" off via nvidia hotkeys. Only after I toggled nvidia's "compatibility mode" off did the gauges all suddenly spring into 3D model mode. Then I used the Helix Mod's keys to get convergence and separation to where I felt comfortable (more or less). Had to use Nvidia's hotkeys to further fine-tune the effect until I don't see "double vision" when I read the left and right panels, as well as the Comms panel (top left) and the info panel (top right). My Depth (used to be called "stereo separation") is set to about 45%. Just enough to give depth perception and not enough to cause double images on words in menus :) I actually liked less convergence - the target holo and the fuel/cargo scoop/landing gear menu appear to be floating in front of the monitor (ie coming out towards me), but alas, that amount...

While you're right, there's absolutely NO 'wrong mode' .. it's wallopin' good fun to fly in and out again, sightseeing right under their noses, in a speedy stealth build. (Did someone say Eagle? Costs near nothing if the worst actually does happen but you do know for a fact, if you've no cargo, no NPC will ever touch you).

Likewise. I don't have ridiculous hours to play, fly mid-range ships, mouse keyboard on a below spec laptop but play open anyway, including CG's, visits to engineers, the lot. Find it adds that unknown factor, making Elite: Extra Dangerous. Don't think I've ever had an issue not able to escape from but even if I did .. stuff happens and I could introduce you to the elite NPC FdL who just tried to mess up my Python's day. In answer to the OP then .. hope so. Little by little the galaxy is 'maturing'. So come on in, the water's lovely, and the adrenalin too.

I loved the hauler too. For my folly, i have all its paint jobs. Pity that even space taxiing has been taken away from it by ship transfers. Wouldn't it be nice if there were sub-outpost starports that only had small pads, limited by demand volume but giving high margin, making you into the overpriced mobile shop in space? Or if there was a way to have lower running costs on a non-combat ship, so that they would higher credits/hr at any size class than a multirole or combat-fitted vessel?

  8. It is ages old nick of my name Peter localized version, and with first letter of surname. So pronouncing it would be rather difficult Pecis K maybe?
