Welcome home Commander! Overjoyed for your return and thank you for contributing to Elite. Thankfully Dangerous is shaping up to be the signature Elite in the making and rightfully pays plenty homage to the originals beyond just game-play and aesthetics. Fly safely, fly dangerously and good luck with cosmic reminiscing. The single best recommendation is to seriously take your time and experiment before you commit or switch between game-mode and play style. Don’t be afraid of a do-over or two and if needs be ‘clear your save’ can be found in-game under options menu. The most awesome gamepad software ever: Padstarr, Grifta Morphing Gamepad, TobiiEyeX Controller, ECHOTalkative AI VoiceAttack with HCSVoicepacks are highly commended for systematically complimenting game-play and more. Have fun acclimating, play-testing and configuring your control schemes to benefit you specifically long-term while you carry on with all-out rekindling interstellar behaviours. The secret to piloting is persistence with...

Personally I think this sort of thing might come eventually (am a KS backer and have been watching since before release). It's a while off though because we're still in the realm of player to player networking (2.3 Commanders) and vehicle in vehicle nesting (2.2 Guardians) etc etc. Some good ideas in here below but for the time being, you can (set up your own company) 'informally' if you're willing to group with other people, set up a free blog website etc. Unless handled with some care though, the minute it gets introduced formally in game, it's bound to go on rails, and is ultimately less flexible than the roleplayed version can ever be. The more interesting people can make their groups in the meantime though, the better the brainstorm and the better any game implementation ends up being later. Show us how it's done?

Yep.. I use it all the time, except when I play in VR... apparently there is a way to make it work in VR, but I havn't had a look at that yet.

I noticed that if I connected to a server starting with IP 54.xxx.xxx.xxx I generally have no problems. If I connect to a server starting with an IP that is NOT 54.xxx.xxx.xxx I start to experience these issues. I have yet to confirm it, I have just started to take note of connection IP since I started encountering these problems (to have more info for when I log a ticket with FD) (IP visible bottom left of main menu).

I REALLY want this to appear on Galnet, especially given API-gate yesterday.

Possibly? CG's definitely give you a reason to read Galnet, bring you into contact at least, with other player Commanders which makes life 'interesting' even if you're only blockade running and not winging up with them. Best way to understand Engineers is to visit one I'd say. Farseer is probably a decent first stop because jump range boosts and thruster upgrades are good for all forms of play. Which brings me to a question? Are you looking to bounty hunt? Or a mix? Or why were you fixed on O and B class stars? I think you had it right with looking for a home faction to promote really, especially if you like to mix up the gameplay driven by BGS events and maybe if you had found a base before things might have been different. Try a different criteria maybe? I could certainly suggest a prison colony system that 'needs' to have a fanatical religious sect (or a greedy corporation) in charge.

I'm saying a production economy is ultimately more resilient than a service based one and that now is the time, because I also think you should prefer local food over imports, for the simple reason of food miles, and obtaining transport fuel in the medium future. I think we'll see more food grown in the UK and that will also develop the social underclasses away from a culture where there's not much else to do but stab each other. Are cheap calories necessarily a good thing for instance?

I think maybe we should know; Who is this API dev's representative? Were they elected democratically, by which group or was it decided by traffic? Is their code open source? Are they open about their google ad incomes? etc. because 5 hours! .. sheesh. The only good meeting is a short meeting! :p

If API has bugs that stop the tools that stop players, that hits ED where it hurts too of course so I'm not over critical, though I hope API devs can organise themselves to streamline their contact with FD, in return for FD's commitment to streamline theirs. 2.3 is still relatively fresh, Frontier still trying to stabilise the main game client (some xbox players still locked out entirely if I understand correctly) and I imagine PM's from indiviudual API tools devs would get lost in the overall noise of critical bug reports, putting quite a lot on FD's plate at a critical time. So do the API devs have a Union representative now? That would streamline. Imagine business as usual in the subforum and when a critical API problem arises the Union Rep, having got the shout from the API devs, red flags it with Frontier who'll take note because "Sir, Mr Mandela is on the phone!" (we could have a laugh about it being Mr Putin if you like, ha! classic). But this "red teleephone", means no need for dozens of...

Tourist beacon - just lock on to it your ship will automatically scan it. No need for SRVs. Best if you have a keybind to "lock object in boresight". Planetary Scan job - need to honk when you get into system to trigger the quest giver to tell you which planet to go, and as you get closer to the planet, look at your left menu - should see something like "Search Area" pop up under the planet name. Lock that, so you know where to go on the planet surface. As you get closer, the reticule will shift around a couple of times. Eventually a surface installation will "pop up" suddenly and that is where you need to go. Then you get into the SRV, lock that Data point up, activate the Datalink scanner.

It is TOTALLY WORTH going to the Generation Ships... I was at one of them in Mobius and there were some other CMDRs there as well and it was a great conversation between us all. And the voice acting from the logs were stellar and the whole thing made me feel uneasy for the people that died on that ship... it was a great experience to be there. Sad to hear that some just don't "get it"... but, one day you might. :) - - - Updated - - - This...

Well... Time isn't the issue at all. The functionality is. As we all know, FD seems to develop Elite based on player feedback and ingame action. If polls were vetted, even if it takes 5 months, if it gets through the vetting, it could give FD good feedback of what players wants in the game. So, no silly polls like "What is your favourite hotdog" etc would be posted. Look at it as a suggenstion poll, with serious topics. The reason I say this is because, apparently, Multi-Crew is a feature that is dependent on how many uses it in order to be fleshed out.... and since there aren't a lot to do in Multi-Crew except for pew-pew, chances are that fleshing this feature out for other activities in the game are quite low.

Let me get this straight... You are advocating for a game where you need to go outside the game in order to store data? Am I reading that correct? If so, wouldn't it be a good thing to have a Notepad inside the game to write things down? Why should I have to leave the game in order to record notes, I wonder?
