Learn the fight mechanics by purchasing a small ship a low pitch rate like a Viper 3 or Viper 4. It's great training for the fight mechanics of high end ships like the Fer De Lance, Python, or even the Federal Corvette. And it's a much cheaper way to learn!

I care because I invested a lot of time training in the operation to keep her safe. Not because I cared if she lived or died, but it was something fun to do ;). And tbh the conclusion seemed totally fishy at the time, and felt to me like Drew had betrayed the hard work of the community, either thru his astonishingly poor piloting or thru intentionally throwing the fight. However, Mr Potter's "confession" makes me think it's actually possible that Drew's is really that bad at Elite. Which is slightly better imo, and I would like to think the best of Drew for some reason. Even though he did kinda try to pin her death on the community.

At the time it happened, that's exactly what it looked like. And I gave Drew a hard time for not making it look more convincing, and further more for saying the (grieving) community decided her fate, just to punch us in balls when we were down. However since you're confirming my suspicions, now I'm doubting it from both ends. Lol. Way to mess with my head Harry. Going to have to start charging you rent. :P

As I said above in the quote you snipped, it is a statement of principle (not an accusation) that cheaters shouldn't benefit from cheating. And cheating is well defined in the TOS. That is completely different from "criminal" in game acts that have in-game consequences. Not sure why you're comparing the two? They are so obviously different.

"by any means necessary" was the key phrase you are ignoring here. Biasing an outcome within the legitimate rules of the game (engineering, training, skill, and even treachery) is par for the course. HOWEVER, rigging an outcome with exploits and possibly cheats is clearly against the TOS and the spirit of the game. It should not be rewarded. That's not a statement about anyone in particular. That's a statement of principle.

This isn't about one pilot. It's about a principle. Trying to cast smoke screens after so much historical hot air is a bit of hollow tactic at this point. It's like the story of the wolf who cried boy. At some point it's not about that person anymore, it's about the integrity of the system itself. Do we want a game that rewards skill and effort and luck? Or do we want a game that rewards people who make every attempt to rig the outcome by any means necessary?

If you don't have the speed to maintain range, then you cannot avoid getting into point blank range range either. At point blank, there is no dodging a ~500 m/s boost ram. You literally have 1s to get out of the way. If you are flying backwards with FA off then you might have a little more than 1 second to dodge. An Anaconda or Corvette isn't dodging a bullet the size of a football stadium in 1s by leaning on the transverse thrusters. That's like dodging a whole city block that is flying at you at 1.5x the speed of sound. If a competent Cutter wants to ram you and you're not also in a Cutter (or something faster) then you're going to get rammed.

If a ship has a 150 m/s forward velocity advantage then it can ram you with impunity. Reversky won't do much when you go backwards at 266 with FAoff and they go forwards at nearly 500 m/s. Not much you can do against a competent Cutter rammer. Maybe you haven't met one yet? Well I haven't met a heat Exploiter either so I guess it's possible. Once you do, then you'll know what I'm talking about here. Heat weapons have nothing on Cutter rammers. Cutter 10000 MJ shields + 500 m/s Rams = Exploit = Heat Cannons

Lavecon is this weekend. They usually show something new about ED. I think it'll be the extended trailer of the Thargoid base. It was shown to the press at E3.

If the modules that "killed" Salome never should have existed. Then yes, Salome's death should have never existed. Furthermore, the person who claims to have found and killed Salome legitimately, also claimed their fleet was "clean" and later was quoted as having lost "everything" when the targeted module wipe was conducted. The extent of blatant mendacity and misdirection does strongly suggest that the entire event was also potentially hacked as well. Which to me means that Salome's death was fake(d).

That's a 4 core CPU with hyperthreading (two logical cores per physical core). There's a reasonable (though not mighty) performance improvement with the newer architecture. Indeed, hyperthreading has historically impaired performance on Frostbite. You might actually benefit from turning hyperthreading off for BF1. If you were having issues with stability on the 3570K, it suggests to me that your core voltages were marginal for what is a very CPU-intensive game.

They have more absolute health and are useful for ramming and wiping out "regular" shields. Having vastly superior speed makes ramming or fleeing an IWIN button. And that kind of combined cheese is an Exploit as far as I'm concerned. Picking on heat weapons while neglecting the cheap ramming meta with this shield/speed combo is cherry picking exploits. They're both equally wrong.

I think it's more a case of this: The exploit I used is totally okay. The exploit YOU used is bad.

As above if you hate heat cannons then you should really hate a Cutter with dirty drives and 10000 MJ god shields. That's like heat cannons and clogging all rolled into one ship. They can hurt you with impunity, and leave whenever they feel like it. Is that really any different? I honestly think they're the same. So much so that whenever I see a Cutter/Clipper I actually think "dirty cheater flying an IWIN button..."

Heat seems more like a imbalance item than an exploit. You may as well say all Cutter/Clipper pilots are using exploits. Not sure how people abuse premium ammo, I thought they they fixed the endless ammo glitch? I agree about clogging 100%. I usually let people live anyway, so clogging doesn't irk me for that reason, but it does ruin the immersion and the integrity of the game. And more importantly it removes consequences, so that alone should be taken into account when they include a karma mechanic. Cash exploits I don't really care about because being rich or poor is meaningless because dying is currently 100% optional, even without clogging.

Including in any upcoming C&P is a punishment for clogging. Though the punishment seemed to me like a reward for people who clog. Getting put into a ghost instance seems like exactly the kind of safe Open privacy they'd want and they may not even realize they're being "punished". As for Quince, I'm not sure how that cash Exploit worked, but ... 1) how would Frontier track it, 2) how would they penalize such accounts accurately if the money was all in modded assets? 3) was the Exploit an obvious cheat like menu glitching? Or just a wonky reward system that was too generous/easy like long range biowaste delivery? 4) how does being rich impact the play of other people when most everyone is already a billionaire? 5) isn't there always a cash "Exploit"/bonanza somewhere in the game? And isn't that part of the game dynamic to locate the bonanza before it moves? I have only ever cashed in on one said bonanza, the undepletable low temp diamonds USS after the Dangerous Games. But to me, that one...

That's a fair point, hopefully Metal does provide something that they can work to that won't take a lot of effort (because if you're honest they've probably maxed out on the potential profit from OSX users already)

Ooooh! I see! I was a bit confused, as would be clear from my post. The 1060 6GB will work wonderfully at 1080p. You should even be able to use supersampling to pretty things up a bit, but you might find the dashed orbital lines annoying on SS less than 2.0 (I do.)

What more than FDev tell MacOS users? Apple refuse to support a newer version of OpenGL, and in turn Shader levels. You should really take this up with Apple, not FDev.

Earth makes a good point though; up until now I would have said that Fdev was incapable of policing their game, but obviously that was incorrect. They only care to police the game when a certain threshold of complaining is reached. Now that they have punished those that exploited the engineers let's start agitating for punishment for the filthy practice of clogging along with ridiculous money exploits such as Quince
