Multicrew needs non-combat activities. They should make it like Star Trek Bridge Commander. The SLF need non-combat functions like mining lasers. I doubt they've done any improvements on Multicrew for 2.4 though which is a pity.

NPCs have used SCBs since Beta 2 or 3 back in October-November 2014. Many NPC ships run few boosters and have no modifications to their defensive modules, so the collapsed regeneration rate can be quite high relative to shield strength, which means their shields can often combat back up fairly quickly. NPCs play by exactly the same rules you do, 99% of the time, including shield regeneration. And yes, NPCs can reboot/repair...though they normally only do this if you shoot out their power plant.

That's a pretty outdated view that hasn't really been reflective of things since 2.0. Boosters allow almost any ship with decent shielding that can't mount class six or better SCBs to simply front load enough MJs that the SCBs become an inefficient use of mass/power. Only big ships can significantly really benefit from SCBs and they are the most vulnerable to the various shield counters. I was never referring to the differences between different ships, but to the differences between different configurations of the same ship.

No one will disagree with core comes first, but what of space legs is intrinsic to those core concepts. I mean I mostly play as a smuggler now. Compare: (I) getting out of my ship, heading down to the shadier part of town and completing the deal to. To

That's not the point of accountability. Accountability is there so you only have to intimidate the people at the top of the chain of command, who then intimidate the ones below them, and so on and so forth down the chain. When those at the top fear being canned if things don't improve, things will improve...usually.

I miss the days when the CG tier dictated its conclusion (such as the level of the victory over emperors dawn). Sadly this stopped when everyone began tearing at their breast because obsidian orbital didn't get a shipyard.

You've forgotten the real winner... Its Derek Smart when he comes wading into a fight he wasn't invited too, armed with a steel chair, american wrestling style.

Gotta agree, this seems like a bad comparison, and even worse predictor of success to blame Eve. Eve was a 3rd person MMO game and had no business making it an FPS since the leap in mechanics was extraordinary. Elite is already 1st person cockpit game which is basically a FPS already but with a huge heavily armed flying "wheelchairs" and hit boxes. So the mechanics are already fundamentally in place. All Frontier has to do is: the monumental work of filling the missing assets making the graphics scale decently with greater zoom making sure VR isn't a vomit comet providing halfway decent gameplay that isn't much worse than what we already have (it's not like we're expecting a miracle here)

Its conversations like this, reflecting on adventures and events which we all experienced from different perspectives involving other players and human interactions, which is why I love open and its memory will endure for a good few years I think in a way that solo or PG does not. Remember the queen of sag A? And her insane constant altering of the various wiki's to list it as a system with a population of 1, and her as the controlling PP faction? :D

Would you then care to explain why your company is making announcements to the stock exchange such as "total of over 2.1 million paid franchise units had been sold" which underreport the total by secretly excluding paint jobs, cosmetics and all the other dozens of franchise units from that total? If that figure is indeed accurate, what possible benefit could there be in such a misrepresentation, rather than reporting the higher, accurate figure? And also why you're now claiming "franchise units" includes some games (ED base game) and not others (ED Arena)? And includes some DLC (Horizons) and not others (Pilot Start Pack etc.)? Again, what possible benefit could there be in hiding the true total sales?

Wasn't Itchy based out at Diso, using the point defence/limpet exploits, rather than at Lave? My memories were slightly different to yours, running topcover for new starts in Haulers helping them try to evade the CODE who had raised the black and declared the whole region as being 'The New Caribbean' Good times :)

The surface terrain looks much better than 2.0. It still could use improvement. This type of detail and variety is needed (sand dunes, rocky etc). This is on Mars: Frosted Dunes:

So David Braben says one thing to the stock exchange and a YouTuber who doesn't even work for the company says a different thing on an internet forum. Absolutely got it! :-)

You misread it. He didn't say sold. Braben dropped the word "sold" from his ED numbers a while back. That way he gets to big up the number by including the 250K+ Arena copies he gave out free on Steam and in Xbox bundles. Let's see the numbers to back up that claim. Until then, 2.75m genuine franchise units total is completely covered by the 1.1m-1.5m known game sales, plus average one Horizons/decal/book/whatever per player. And the significance of that is almost all ED franchise's sales since 2016 have been low-value cosmetics DLC etc. with actual game sales down to the trickle seen on the Steam graph.

Perhaps if we as a community hadn't maligned pirates like they were real life rapists/psychos etc, promoted any exploit that limited or negated their ability to play their desired role, and clamoured for easy mode earnings that removed the need to carry lootable cargo, the proper pirate players would still be here, keeping themselves in check like they had done prior?

Yes. That's what "franchise" means. Plus it includes the ED franchise stuff FD licenced out to other companies such as books, 3D ship models etc. Anything else would have been hiding sales from the stockmarket, which is seriously not kosher, especially with so many FD managers/directors trading private shares recently. Yes. That's why Steam shows so few game sales and FD accounts show so few $$$. A lot of those unit sales are paint jobs and $1 cosmetics bought on the dozens by ED hard-core fans.
