The problem with PVP is peer to peer. Until we have a proper server and combat logging is removed from the game PVP will remain as it is. There's also various other game balance issues such as the engineers which would need to be addressed but that's never going to happen because FDev are clueless. PVP isn't the problem, it's how the game was designed in the first place.

As much as I like Obsidian as a person and an Elite newscaster, I would prefer to have a more technical expert like Erimus to be a player adviser to Frontier. Obsidian is a great YouTuber and promoter, but Erimus is an Explorer's Explorer with unsurpassed knowledge and experience and quite frankly a richer and deeper source of ideas for mechanics.

This is something I have been wanting for a long long time. I think it fits in perfectly with the current high wake jump boost mechanics, and imo should be applied to every kind of boosted jump. The bigger the boost, the more difficult the "interdiction type tunnel" should be. I would even be Ok with having a 20kLY jump range as long as the interdiction tunnel was vitually impossible to beat and failure meaning being thrown 20kLY off course and severely crippled ship, possible completely disabled if the AFMUs are too badly damaged. White dwarf binaries should be quite rare for a variety of reasons. 1) WD precursors are not all that common Pop I&II: B,A,F and Pop II: G 2) stars don't age at the same rate, lower mass stars burn slower and live longer lives on the main sequence (hence Sirius B was initially higher mass than sirius a) 3) stars in the future-WD mass range expand when they die, and this mass can accrete upon the companion star potentially altering its lifespan, or causing it to go...

A common cause would be if they united as a group to put a stop to unwanted aggression. Hiding from the possibility of aggression en masse isn't the same thing:)

I would go with something like this for combat: https://eddp.co/u/fnVF1qxJ You can use this shield build with any kind of build though (trade/blockade runs/bounty hunting/etc). The beauty of it is that the regen is so fast that all an NPC needs to do is run out of WEP for a few secs and you almost don't even need the SCBs. It can take quite a lot of punishment, even going toe to toe with the biggest baddest ships you'll find in a high CZ.

Or you could just git gud. I've never had a problem. Here is a hint, get yourself a decent g5 dirty drive, use a fast ship (i.e. clipper) and know how to high wake. Problem solved no?

Always good to hear. Dale, I have to ask, will the higher tier rewards yield these devices being available in 'normal' orbiting starports, or is it aimed at exclusively Horizons players? If so, a few people who arent interested who think that it wont benefit them, might feel a tad miffed if it turns out that it could have benefited them.

I agree 100%. Furthermore, I think the entire scan/discovery/jump/route-plotting mechanics need to be thrown out and started over from scratch so exploration is more hands-on and travel itself requires actual planning and benefits from group effort. Going anywhere humans never been before should feel like edge-of-the-galaxy exploration does. If this means throwing out all previous data, I'm more than fine with that.

Commanders, While this appears to be a week of normal CGs, I suggest you take a moments pause and read the small print. It seems for each tier both pass, the availability of the new Thargoid Scanner and Weapon system at Starports increases. This means, in the long run it's more beneficial for us as a whole if the CG's finish at similar tiers, rather than one finishing considerably ahead of the other. Therefore I urge anyone who's trucking to consider splitting their efforts between the two rather than focus on one, and avoid the temptation to lean towards trying to get that top tier, as credits are pretty much meaningless in comparison to the longhaul that equipment availability will yield. Humanity first!

Proof for "Frontier has excluded all the current post-2.0 DLCs from the Lifetime Expansion Pass."?? My proof is the fact that LEP owners did not receive any of the post-2.0 DLCs currently listed on the Steam ED page unless they paid extra. Example: http://store.steampowered.com/app/441730/Elite_Dangerous_Pilot_Starter_Pack "The Elite Dangerous: Pilot Starter Pack includes a selection of items to enable you to begin customizing your ship both inside and out." "Buy Elite Dangerous: Pilot Starter Pack 6.00" Not to mention the fact that this is a breach of promise to all KS backers, regardless of whether they bought LEPs. In-game items were promised to be purchasable with in-game credits.

I have never seen the devs say that. What they did say was "We are certainly not inclined to downgrade the appearance of anything in the game". That's a big shortfall w.r.t. "the PC game is not being affected".

I'm not complaining about the heat, but rather clarifying my positions so that the heat can be applied for the correct reasons:)

I see that I took a lot of heat for my comments overnight. To clarify, my position was never to suggest that the curator of a PG should not be able to post about a policy change within his group, or that he and like minded folks should not be able to openly discuss their opinions on the matter. I will just say, though, that when it comes to various groups posting about their agendas on the forum I really do prefer SDC's method over Mobius, as SDC's forum missives are an attempt to entertain and educate for the betterment of all players in ED, while Mobius is only posting about a very exclusive, very narrow range of players. Not that this is not perfectly legit and acceptable, it's just not very altruistic. Other than that, I give the OP high marks and wish all of you who don't like to worry about conflict in conflict zones all the best:)

You apologists really need to get your ducks in a row. One minute you are claiming FD has bought a new building for cash, the next minute you're saying it is a good thing that they haven't. It is no problem at all. I have never said it is a problem. I've said only that the claims hearabouts that Frontier has bought a new building are false. There people seem to think this shows how well Frontier is doing financially. These people seem reluctant to face up to the fact Frontier just took out a 4m overdraft facility.

From a profit-earning POV, Elite Dangerous is dead. The last life signs disappeared when the PS4 port sold only a handful of copies. Yes, it is going to take free-to-play with microtransactions. Just ask Frontier's latest addition to the board - imported from the world's largest microtransactions factory, Tencent. Whether DLC is available for free to LEP owners depends entirely on how Frontier chooses to label it. Frontier has excluded all the current post-2.0 DLCs from the Lifetime Expansion Pass. They can do the same again.

I think he was not and is not one of the game's designers. He's very hands-on in various aspects from promising features to advertising the game. That's not design. Goodness I really hope not. But if true, that would explain why Frontier has not replaced the person responsible for the current shambles, and suggests we should have a lot of sympathy for the Lead Designer who has to come on the forum to make excuses for the messup.

Ryder35's question is about who designed ED the game, not who is in charge of FD the company.

Because David Braben didn't want to remind anyone of FFE? Braben delivered FFE in an unsaleable state, chock-a-block with bugs, then failed to refund its backers as promised (sounds familiar?) and after a few patches left it still broken, the game was withdrawn from sale with him being sued for 700,000. Under 'previous games' in his kickstarter project page, he rides off the original Elite but makes no mention of FFE. That's no accident.

I dont know about the eight year shareholder thing. But I do know the ten year plan thing is based on a misconstruded Braben quote from an early lave radio episode where they asked him about elite 5 and he said (something along the lines of) that he didnt see an idea of having an elite 5 but instead he hoped development would be continuing on ED 10 years from now.
