As should any citizen be fine with their fellow citizen owning a firearm if they wish, given that the law expressly permits it. I'd posit it is reasonable for lessons in handling, firing, cleaning, stripping and secure storage to be compulsory with every first purchase of a gun & licence, and that licence has to be retested by an exam and shooting/handling tests every five years, say. That should go a long way toward reducing accidental deaths and deaths of law-abiding citizens.
