The thing is, for 95% of all gameplay ever, the distinction between the mode is relatively meaningless. You can explore in open and return data safely in open so long as you don't go to exploration hotspots or sell your data in hotspot areas. You can trade in open so long as you avoid the hot spots. You can farm engineer mats as long as you avoid the hot spots (and only switch to solo when going to the engineer). You can bounty hunt in open and... you get the idea. All that the OP's idea would do is that people do their farming and grinding in open play in more remote places where you'd still not meet them, then switch to solo or private once they have to go to any of said hot spots. Plus a few people who are tech savvy enough to just prevent the P2P connections from happening, thus being connected to the servers in open play mode but effectively cut off from P2P sessions anyway. --------------------------------------------- I will repeat what I always said: if you want to encourage more people...

As long as SLFs can fly around like crazy for an indefinite amount of time without refueling, I consider any "but the limpet expended its energy" argument invalid. Not that I am complaining about SLFs - but the argument makes little sense in this context.

Put it with a discovery scanner, wake scanner, manifest scanner, these things can be collected together as they operate in different circumstances.

I suspect the answer is badly...but mine is engineered a bit and I use it for mission running.

I would be amazed if there's anything space based in the Hind Nebula, considering the Asteroid Base there the system has been visited a lot this last year.

Because reasons. Someone at FD either considered it a good idea, or just the easiest to implement. Given all the things that were added in the meantime, I think it would be much better if limpet controllers were like SLF bays - a generic controller with slots into which you put reusable limpets of your chosen type, with larger classes of limpet controllers having more slots and more reserve limpets.

Yes, it's possible to be completely ignorant of virtually everything and still have ten figures of assets. Yes, the game balance is 'wrong'.

Good. If you can defend and counter all the weapons they have, then it makes the whole thing rather pointless. They should be a challenge if you want to try and fight them. I don't think we'll be getting a way of following their wakes anytime soon, or probably, anytime.

FDev didn't force your CMDR to equip your vessel with a known dangerous piece of equipment and use it irresponsibly. The docking computer is a driving aid, not an autopilot!

I've never found pip macros necessary, or even particularly helpful, at least not on a stick where I can always have a hat switch dedicated to the distributor in easy reach.

Well it's hard as they're 218Mb each :p However this is a crop of one and if you zoom right in you'll notice how the metal fixings don't lose any quality, but the writing's already blurred. I can't see anything behind the writing though, maybe it's cause the lighting's different but I don't think so. Click the picture to get a fullscreen version.

I doubt you'll get them to be honest, the writing is deliberately blurred. I take my screenshots at 6k resolution and you still can't read what they say. I only managed to make out water and coffee beans when I first posted that picture, didn't notice toilet roll, but I'm glad they had some at least :D

This is the exact reason high money earning methods are nerfed. More than once Frontier have said they reduce certain methods to make them all equal, as they want to give people "choice". After Rhea, Frontier stated they didn't want people gravitating towards the easier method and ignoring other ones. So yes, Frontier do understand this - but for some reason the same logic is not being applied to the community goals.

I'm sorry my question seemed rude to you, my PR representative didn't show up today.

Either way i knew he wouldn't answer it, i just wanted him to read it.
Because it's the simple result of his choice to to full online only mode.

  4. hey bro!
quick question know anything about business related articles or changes they are making?
check it, i was sitting here doing my grind on the game making money.
and i realized something it's basically impossible for me to be making these kind of profits from all these different catagories of consumer products.
i mean you cant be making 150% profit on weapons AND biowaste at the same time in real life it takes years to know the ins and outs of a certain business and how to maximize profits and efficiancy.
i mean i understand being able to ship all the different categories but i think it's strange that i can make really good profits off anything. i'm thinking a more specialized model is in order....

Just so you know Michael posted ingame starmap

Ah i see you are replying to it now

Hmmm, well they are both 'artists impressions' so it seems perfectly understandable to me. If you overlap the 2 they are actually a lot closer to each other than they appear at first glance. Though it does appear as though the outer arm stops short on the ED map

It's based on this image from wikipedia, which I overlayed on the starmap tease like this.

  9. Indeed he is!

However he is after all just one guy who have been developing Space Engine on his spare time. Just imagine then what a whole company like FD can do working full time on something similar!

Thanks for the heads up on the Space Engine. Hadn't seen that. Just installed it. Amazing job. This guy is very talented.
