Hopefully this renews serious interest in establishing a permanent presence on the moon. Not having to dig out all of their own shelter should make a station or settlement much more viable. It's a travesty that people haven't been back in almost fifty years.

Since being able to afford a big ship, I'm pretty content in mostly ignoring credits. Just doing missions for reputation or materials, or destroying NPCs to train SLF crew, pays the bills fifty times over.

So since Herbrand has excused themselves, would you or anyone else be interested in some fieldwork gathering multichannel recordings of Elite output? I can't offer much besides forum Reputation as I'm clean out of Modular Terminals... No particular equipment needed, just a little time. In Elite, set Audio to DTS; Headphone X off and Full Range off Install VoiceMeeter Banana and run it Set 'VoiceMeeter Input' as the default windows audio device In Windows playback devices, 'Configure' Voicemeeter Input and set it to 7.1, all channels, no Full Range speakers In VoiceMeeter, set output A1 (above the tape deck) to your usual windows default audio device Right click the tape deck to open recording properties Click the Post Fade/BUS A1 radio button to record what's going to that output

Frontier has quite deliberately made large ships not capital ships. This is reflected in their names, their relative sizes (not that much bigger than the ships below them), crew requirements, and their capabilities. They aren't battleships or cruisers, but the equivalent of sloops of war, cutters, corvettes, or at the most, small destroyers/frigates. Don't agree, on either point. Big ships do have an edge over mediums, to the extent that if you have a solidly configured big ship, it's never going to lose to any single medium ship, unless the smaller vessel has a significantly better pilot. Even two mediums ships will have great trouble with an Anaconda or Corvette, while the Cutter, unless you can cascade through it's shield gen, is almost never brought down. On the other hand, I also think it takes quite a bit of skill to consistently survive and be useful in a large ship because they tend to draw so much attention (and thus fire) while having major disadvantages in speed, maneuverability, and...

We've got our wires crossed here, and it was my fault. I was using the specific term 'LFE out' but meaning 'Sub out'. I don't have any equipment with a separate 'LFE out'. So we can stop worrying about whether I'm barking up the wrong LFE tree - i'm supposed to be using the same frequencies as a subwoofer! The ButtKicker docs recommend using Sub out where present in a surround setup: https://thebuttkicker.com/content/BK-GR2_QSG.pdf And yeah, I read the Dolby link, but after making the post you are replying to :). No worries, now that I spent all yesterday staring at frequency analysers I'm pretty sure that this is just how the game always does it, absent some hidden state in the game or its audio middleware.

Just saw this edit. Thanks for that Dolby document! We're talking semantics at this point, because irrespective of whether the channel is called Sub or LFE, it contains frequencies around between 5 and 200Hz that can feed either a sub or an LFE. I may have started this by naively referring to this channel as LFE to sound better informed, but as it's the only thing we can use to drive our Subs/Buttkickers (in a surround setup), the labelling isn't significant. Like a sub, a BK can't use anything above 200Hz. Both of us have confirmed that our sub/BKs are doing nothing except on hyperjump. The Dolby PDF does say this useful thing, though: "Consumer Dolby Digital products that reproducemultichannel sound must combine the LFE channel in the proper acoustic mixingratio with the bass from the other channels for proper reproduction". While this is stated in the context of Dolby encoding, which isn't necessarily in use here, the statement holds - the bass frequencies should be combined and sent to the...

This is what I've just added to my Support ticket: I am now mindful of what GlobusDiablo said about subjective experiences and having all the bass he could ever want (from his presumably very capable surround speakers), and wondering what the difference would be if the bottom 100Hz of the surround channels were being mixed to his LFE channel. I've done this in post using Voicemeeter and the wub-wub-wub-wuuurp of a station forcefield or firing a large multicannon are lovely to behold (via my butt). While it's not necessary for my VR, Headphones + BK use case, I fear that if this the general situation, all the surround sound speaker users are missing out on the action.

No, not at all, I do not accept that. Deacon was the first disabled superstar on children's TV to be treated normally, he was a smart man and I as a disabled man look back on his legacy and escapades with admiration: "In 1981, during the last year of his life , Joey Deacon was featured on the children's magazine programme Blue Peter for the International Year of the Disabled. He was presented as an example of a man who achieved a lot in spite of his disabilities." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZF0DJRQo_Y https://infogalactic.com/info/Joey_Deacon

I'm sorry my question seemed rude to you, my PR representative didn't show up today.

Either way i knew he wouldn't answer it, i just wanted him to read it.
Because it's the simple result of his choice to to full online only mode.

  4. hey bro!
quick question know anything about business related articles or changes they are making?
check it, i was sitting here doing my grind on the game making money.
and i realized something it's basically impossible for me to be making these kind of profits from all these different catagories of consumer products.
i mean you cant be making 150% profit on weapons AND biowaste at the same time in real life it takes years to know the ins and outs of a certain business and how to maximize profits and efficiancy.
i mean i understand being able to ship all the different categories but i think it's strange that i can make really good profits off anything. i'm thinking a more specialized model is in order....

Just so you know Michael posted ingame starmap

Ah i see you are replying to it now

Hmmm, well they are both 'artists impressions' so it seems perfectly understandable to me. If you overlap the 2 they are actually a lot closer to each other than they appear at first glance. Though it does appear as though the outer arm stops short on the ED map

It's based on this image from wikipedia, which I overlayed on the starmap tease like this.

However he is after all just one guy who have been developing Space Engine on his spare time. Just imagine then what a whole company like FD can do working full time on something similar!

Thanks for the heads up on the Space Engine. Hadn't seen that. Just installed it. Amazing job. This guy is very talented.
