The only time my CMDR ever used an interdictor on other CMDRs was when the long range trade missions first showed up. I was completely outraged at the absurdity of the missions, the mission stacking, the payouts, and the fallout that was occurring (I was being attacked by my-first-anaconda-CMDRs who thought having ten times the credits could compensate for having one-tenth the combat experience, then seeing them whine about the unfairness of being shot down by a Vulture on the forums/reddit) and naively thought that I could put a dent in it by building a stealth clipper and blowing up every ship I came across in the area that looked like it could hold more than a dozen tons of cargo. So, I worked that into my CMDR's backstory and shot down twenty or forty traders over the course of a weekend until some others started doing the same thing, which freed me up to go back to doing stuff that was actually enjoyable (destroying traders is phenomenally boring and by far the worst grind I've ever engaged in). ...

I can't think of any good reason to go to a place like Quince or Sothis except to engage in commerce raiding against the pawns of shadow-powers seeking to collapse the economy with their credit handouts during a period of price fixing.

Smaller MCs suffer from inadequate penetration to be efficient at damaging the hulls of medium and large combat vessels, so I try to keep medium and small MCs for primarily utility use, when I can. Bigger MCs are the opposite...overcharged or longrange autoloaders seem to do best here. I'm not really fond of the large MC...spin up time is excessive unless you manually pulse them to keep them spun up between engagement windows. While a cryptocurrency would solve issues of universality there doesn't seem to be any control on the supply of credits and price fixing is rampant. Doesn't sound like anything that could make sense!

In general it is. However, it's still absolute damage and if the target has significantly more total shield strength than hull integrity, it's still useful. Quite a few shield focused setups, even big ships, skimp on the hull protection.

To be honest here, and perfectly blunt, what I find very interesting here - is that you are talking about your own subjective opinion, yet refusing to accept other people's subjective opinion. In my subjective opinion, there are too many beige planets. In my subjective opinion, planets are no longer very interesting when compared to patch 2.0 and 2.1. In my subjective opinion, exploration of planetary surfaces is no longer interesting to me. This is my subjective opinion. I am talking about the way I personally enjoy exploration. How can I be wrong about telling you what I like and don't like? Ziggy and many others are saying the same thing. For some people in their subjective opinion, the beige planets have ruined the game for them.

Hey fella ! How's life. I hope it's all woof woof! I'm referring to Imperial slaves. Basically according to Lore they are meant to be treated and afforded the same rights as Imperial Citizens. So rather than being treated as tinned goods they should have some kind of cabin.

Perhaps some PvPers didn't like it because some others could fight back, but I doubt they were the majority. I didn't like it because I don't like pitched battles/staged fights in general and a virtual arena is possibly the least organic and most contrived version of PvP possible. Who are these people? Why are they my enemies? What do I have to gain from fighting them? The answers to those questions are what determines who my CMDR fights in the actual game. Many others simply didn't like the format...small ships playing by different rules than the main game when they wanted to have fun with the vessels they worked so hard toward in that game. It was all very tacked on and didn't synergize well. I don't think anyone but the cheats liked the fact that team stacking was common and that deathmatch was often just a secret and highly unequal TDM. Hell, even most of them probably didn't like it and were only bothering because Frontier dangled a few carrots in front of their faces to incentivise grinding...

While I wouldn't rule out the PSU, I'd expect the GPU to be the more likely culprit, especially if it's a pre-overclocked model. Quite a few GPU brands don't adequately validate the clocks they set at the full spectra of loads possible and many are released with unstable power management tables. Problems while changing loads, or with capped frame rates that keep the part from using the highest power profile, are common in such cases. Elite is also quite demanding in ways not many other games are, so can reveal different sorts of stability issues. I would try reverting GPU clocks to reference values if it's a pre-OCed part, or giving it a mild underclock, without touching voltages, if it's a reference model, and seeing if the problems go away or become less frequent.

It's the least logical way to interpret the statement I wrote. Someone tells me where I am and I can't can't find them in that location. If we assume that I'm correct and that this is because I was blocked, why would you then assume that the person I'm looking for has blocked me, rather than the others that were present in the instance? I can account for all of the variables you mentioned, and more, when testing block list functionality and the block list doesn't need to be the only factor at work in a more complex area for it to be a significant factor at work in a more complex scenario.

New players today have it easier than at almost any time it the past. The rough patching of a handful of exploits doesn't mitigate the fact that wholly legitimate means can still bring in orders of magnitude more money than was available in the early days of the game, often dramatically outpacing prior exploits. What some see as 'atrocious grind' I see as implausibly rapid progression fueled by virtual handouts.

I never implied the one telling me where they were was the one blocking me and I'm not sure why you'd assume such a bizarre scenario. I'm insulted that you think my standards of proof are so low. As I mentioned in the other thread, I would be happy to demonstrate how some of this stuff works to you, in game, in a controlled test that removes or seriously mitigates other variables.

You can block them, but it won't remove them from your instance, just make it much less likely you'll be instanced with them next time.

Because they told me. Because I was just in and out of their instance a half dozen times without any issues and they haven't left. Because I can see the damn wing beacon 300m in front of my face, but can't get placed in the same instance because everyone we are fighting has me blocked to split my wing up. Not when it's two or five blocks vs. one friend/wing.

This is completely false. If I go to a place where I know someone (who in this case could be a foe, a neutral contact, a friend, or a wingman...and yes enough blocks can split apart wings) is and they are not there because they are in a parallel universe, that's quite obvious, and quite contrary to verisimilitude. If someone you didn't know was there before you got there happens to be there, that's hardly a problem. CQC never took off because it had little context to tie it into the rest of the game and because there were great abuses by some people trying to grind their way through it for the permit and/or rank. The only mode I liked in CQC was capture the flag, which even at CQC's peak was nearly impossible to find a match with.

What's the more serious effect, an extra person in an instance? Or an extra instance? I'd argue that the latter is going to be vastly more impactful/disruptive.

From testing that is how it seems to work. If you can get a few people you know together, preferably from two distinct geographical locations, you can test it yourself. A block that actually works either puts someone in another available instance, or causes the creation of a whole new one. However, it absolutely will not force anyone out of an instance they are currently in (this is the easiest aspect to test), so in order for it to work at all it has to prevent matchmaking from placing someone blocking, or being blocked, in the same instance of the blocker/blockee. Unless there are other blockings or friendings at work, whatever default weight matchmaking uses seems to apply when grouping people (specifics are elusive here, except that connection quality seems to be a factor) would seem to be the dominant factor in who is paired with who. Since there are either more instances, or instances of different makeup than there would otherwise be, there isn't really any way to block someone without collateral...

That's the thing. They don't have to block him to exclude him or those with him from their instance; they only have to block someone who is more preferentially paired with him than they are. A single block of one person by another out of a fairly large number of CMDRs in the same area of space at the same time could easily result in two sparsely populated instances rather than one well populated one. jasonbarron may not be the one blocked and may not be doing anything to the one doing the blocking, but if the game decides he's got a better connection to the person blocked, and there aren't other factors countering that, he's going to go into the blocked CMDR's instance, not the instance containing the one doing the blocking. This could radically change his experience as a side-effect.

I'm sorry my question seemed rude to you, my PR representative didn't show up today.

Either way i knew he wouldn't answer it, i just wanted him to read it.
Because it's the simple result of his choice to to full online only mode.

  4. hey bro!
quick question know anything about business related articles or changes they are making?
check it, i was sitting here doing my grind on the game making money.
and i realized something it's basically impossible for me to be making these kind of profits from all these different catagories of consumer products.
i mean you cant be making 150% profit on weapons AND biowaste at the same time in real life it takes years to know the ins and outs of a certain business and how to maximize profits and efficiancy.
i mean i understand being able to ship all the different categories but i think it's strange that i can make really good profits off anything. i'm thinking a more specialized model is in order....

Hmmm, well they are both 'artists impressions' so it seems perfectly understandable to me. If you overlap the 2 they are actually a lot closer to each other than they appear at first glance. Though it does appear as though the outer arm stops short on the ED map

It's based on this image from wikipedia, which I overlayed on the starmap tease like this.

However he is after all just one guy who have been developing Space Engine on his spare time. Just imagine then what a whole company like FD can do working full time on something similar!

Thanks for the heads up on the Space Engine. Hadn't seen that. Just installed it. Amazing job. This guy is very talented.
