Indeed, which everyone has to do at least until they have made enough cash to buy one.

Well quite. What I'm driving at, is that for a sizable minority, convenience features, scalability or choices options in games, even control devices are not optional extras but essential for them to play many titles at all. particularly titles their friends are playing, oft on consoles. On the taking up a slot of the DC, I'd argue this penalizes that sizeable minority. Not only has the DC have to be bought to make ED halfway playable for this minority, it then limits the upgradability of that ship! With a hardware example and slightly on a tangent with option versus essential... I'd love to upgrade my MicroSoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback to a HOTAS or Saitek X-52 Pro, Indeed, I found the x52 Pro on its own, without the throttle lever conreoller - "oh joy, finally", I thought, until I read in the description it only works when plugged into the throttle controller - foiled again! I will be using the Sidey 2 until it breaks it seems.

Corvettes have better armour or shields than the space equivalent of Aircraft carriers? that doesn't make sense.

Not noticed any improvement to responsiveness - game still runs sluggishly on modest systems, due to lack of 'off' & 'low' options on graphics settings.

Imperial slave not shipped in cabins fetch the same price as normal slaves (this woudl cove rthe loss of those who expire in transit or arrive damaged) and / or are treated as illegal as they have not been afforded rights? At the moment prisoners and refugees get better treatment than imperial slaves.

Long time Virus player on the Amiga. And V2000 on PC, which (I believe) shared its engine with Infestation, which I keep getting vibes of when I'm down on a planet surface in Elite... Anyway, I'd like it if some more bits of Lander/Zarch/Virus leaked into Elite: mostly the skimmer as a low-altitude flying SRV (with a cargo hoist facility?), but also destroyable sensor networks that would influence how ground defences react to your approach. Although I wouldn't say no to fire breathing dragons on some atmospheric planets, just to liven things up a bit.

This isn't actually the case - I use VESA AV pole mounts to place the bases of my CH hotas in front of and below the level of the armrests, pretty much level with my knees. The grips are therefore exactly in the resting positions of my hands on the arm rests, and my shoulders are in a neutral position. Placed on the desk, I had to lift my shoulders to hold the hotas grips, and started getting shoulder pain. It's gone away now it's in an ergonomic position. BTW, for SRV piloting, I use the somewhat unorthodox combination of pedals: steering, pedal toe brake: thrust, CH throttle ministick: pitch/roll thrusters, main joystick: turret. Perhaps this would reduce your hand workload in most situations too?

Thanks - I'm not in the DDF, so I'll wait and see how it pans out when the discussion is archived.

And again thanks for the rep. Kind of funny, the assumptions some people make about me.

Lol! Thanks for the rep! Far be it for me to disagree with the Emperor....I'm sure it's a cartographic mistake from some lowly slave.
