Good to see that people who were dead against ZHCs can be open later and change their minds and see that for some its a brilliant way of working(still again i know its not fair on those that are exploited in different sectors) Have to say am at my most satisfaction and happy in regards to any job i have ever had, flexibility in days/hours worked has made my life so more relaxed, i actually feel like my own boss. One other point, i have very few sick days and open to last minute shifts, because am under no pressure of any sorts and can always cancel shifts myself to go on holidays without being penalized by the employer(i was suppose to be working this week, but canceled the whole weeks shifts two weeks ago, just to have a break) no problems with either employer or me as long as we give plenty of notice to each other(again i do work for a good place though :)

No dont mind at all, i have the Peoples pension and holiday pay(rolled over) related to hours worked with current employer, however i have an excellent pension from my years at a previous employer. If sick no pay, but again ive saved money aside throughout the many years working(Am 50 tomorrow!) and my wife works as a professional(self employed) which helps as a buffer to, however she to puts plenty aside, as she can sometimes take 3-4 months off before getting new contract. From the above i know am luckier then most, particularly if they are much younger/ or in low payed job, however again my current employer is really good and works hard to keep us zero hour workers with plenty of work/supervisions(concerns/make you feel part of the team) and refresher training is twelve times a year! Again there is plenty of work, i really could work seven days a week, ive done plenty of double shifts as i can help out with last minute absences/sick, at moment am booked up to August solid and still have...

Ive had one for nearly Eleven years and love it! gives me the flexibility to choose my hours and days i want to work, i know its different/difficult in other sectors, but (Care) which i do, has plenty of work(could do seven days most weeks if wanted) mostly four ;).. they can cancel shifts given on 24hrs notice but very rarely happens, and vice versa.....also a small reason why i wont vote Labour this time round(others reasons to though)...

Looks like I killed all of reddit. Reddit is back up and I've taken comments from folk and made some dramatic changes. - - - Updated - - - Thanks!

And 3.0 is what 2.7 got refactored into. But much of 3.0 is getting knocked back and what bits of 3.0 do arrive probably won't arrive end June.

Just to let you know, Ozric, I have read every single post on this thread, including all of yours. I am somewhat dismayed at what has been written, because I think you're being unreasonable, especially given the history section of the OP. I do not feel the need to justify my existence to you. As far as I'm concerned I make my little application for me. I decided at one point to package it up for others to use if they so chose to - and I specifically told everyone this and still do. That's it, really, as far as I'm concerned. People can choose to use Captain's Log, or choose not to. They can also make requests and bug reports, and I'll pick and choose what I want to spend my time on to add new things or not, depending on if I have the energy and willingness to do so. Bugfixes for some things reported by users do get fixed as rapidly as I can though - I try to take a bit of pride in producing something which works well. I even spent the time making a user manual for the other users. So yeah, the...

They don't do deadlines - just vague hints of what may come to pass at sometime in the future plus or minus a few years!

You can put those Babylon 5 videotapes away! An accord was reached yesterday afternoon - all sites were back online by then. Regards.

Y'know some of the posts on this thread are pretty outstandingly bad. Take for example, recent comments on the cost of running a server. It's all very well saying "it'll cost <this much> to purchase any old VPS package" - what's not taken into account is the many man-hours taken to actually keep the server operational - configuration, administration. Some of the really big sites need and use more than one server, just to crunch the data, serve their own API's, be able to meet the demand placed on them to serve and feed data off to other sites and applications. There's man-hours consumed just even producing the code required to crunch that data which is relied upon by so many. There's the man-hours required to produce the code necessary to glue additional servers together, make sure data is synchronised.

Tweaked it a bit based on feed back so far. Keen to read more constructive feedback :D Are there any talented artist out there that could come up with a theme / look and feel?
