Mmm. Maybe. I just glance at the top right corner HUD right after the ADS honk and it tells you the number of bodies discovered. I'm trying to think what use such an AdsHonk event - even with a breakdown on the body types as you describe - could be to Captain's Log or EDDiscovery or similar, and I can't off-hand think of anything useful to do with such minimal data :)

I too pondered this very thing on the EDCD Discord a few days ago. It seemed like a reasonable thought - obtain extremely basic body data after an ADS Honk, including counts. After all, you see this data in the system map after an ADS honk. I came to the conclusion that it's not practical in a gamplay sense - you'd be giving away for definite some rather large hints at what a planet type is, for example. Sure, in the system map you can see that a planet might just be an Earth-like World - but you're not 100% sure of that until you either use the 'audio listening method' (whereby you can highlight the suspected ELW icon and you can hear a very distinctive piece of ambient audio denoting an ELW - or some other piece of ambient audio indicating otherwise), or you actually go and detailed surface scan the suspected ELW. If you had an AdsHonk Journal event which supplied such details, then all the surprise has been removed from the game. Therefore my conclusion was; it's not practical.

Oh! You just reminded me of... Remember when we had to wait for those useless 'blast shields' to come fully down before the ship launched from a pad? It drove everyone completely bananas! Now picture having to wait 5-20+ minutes before you get a full picture of what a star system looks like. Again. And again. And again. Ad nauseum. It'll be way worse than the blast shield thing was. :)

^ This one gets it. Why even bother playing a game if there's really no challenge involved to begin with? If you really hate the "grind" in a game, just watch a movie or something. You'll get maximum satisfaction with little effort.

No one is telling you you have to Engineer anything. People without Horizons get along fine. NPCs dont have stacks of Engineered stuffs. I think teh joy has gone out of teh gae for you becasu eyou want the bets gear in teh game rather than playing for the best experience. If you were having fun withouht doing engineering just do that. Good luck and I hope you find something tto put a smile on your face. I hope this picture cheers you up I lieked it before engineering and since engineering I liek it just as much. So I ignore engineering and carry enjoying it. I guess when I have a meal and there's something in it I dont like (like a dodgy looking prawn) I put it to teh side of my plate and ignore it and tuck in to the rest :D

Mmm. I'm still convinced that most players will utterly despise body discovery taking longer than it already does. Remember - will a cool idea still be enjoyable that N thousandth time? I think folks picture some awesome looking screen candy whilst honking a system as opposed to 'the instant honk' and think "yeah, having some awesome eyecandy instead of the honk would be great!" - but don't take into account the extra time this would take to get basically the same result as now; "there's a planet/star/asteroid/whatever there". Multiply that awesome time-consuming eyecandy 100's or 1000's of times and it's going to get old quickly. There will be forum screaming about 'such a useless sequence just for finding if something is in the system is taking too much time FDEV! Bring back the ADS honk!" :) The real potential for gains in exploration enjoyment is what you do with the bodies you see exist in a system, as has been outlined earlier. I mean, it already takes time to go to just one body and...

Mengy, I'll give you +rep for an excellent post. But! I love everything except for the dreaded 'black planet' thing. As my post before yours says - body discovery shouldn't take longer than it does now, and picture yourself taking 5-20 minutes to discover a body type 100, 1000, 3000 times - that time mounts up real fast and I'm certain that practically everyone will get sick of that stage :) Regards o7

Thanks for the rep The one good thing that I think these threads/conversations do is show how much people care about the game at least.
