Shenanigans I call upon each of thee The Rift Mystery Thread take warn! Nothing left for us explorers to see Except Teorge where clones are born. Salomé's story has reached a tearful end But a conspiracy grand she did reveal. Who is left for The Dark Wheel to send and force The Club to kneel?

It's all part of the conspiracy. We are all being manipulated behind the scenes. Some of us know we’re being manipulated, some of us don’t. The requirements for the Engineering invites are all very arbitrary. The Engineers emerge on the scene right as we find ourselves once again facing The Enemy. Coincidence? Not a chance. They're part of the machinery that has been manipulating mankind to prepare us for this coming War ... a War that could have been averted if it hadn't been planned in secret and behind closed doors. With enough sulphur and phosphorus in stock an SRV can go a long, long way without running out of fuel - thanks to SRV fuel synthesis.

Another thought occurred to me, FD ought to consider actually putting the new building itself into the game at some point. Perhaps at Cambridge Starport on Earth once atmospheric landings are added? Perhaps then that image Rubbernuke posted would be pretty damn close!

If I remember correctly, planetary base missions (e.g. scanning) in which you had to overcome the skimmers guarding it before going on with your data scanner, could be done by first destroying all the skimmers there from your ship - I think at the time, skimmers could be targetted by the ship as well. After a bunch of forum screaming about 'exploits!', and Frontier having a desire for these missions to be completed only via their shiny new SRV content, Frontier changed the mechanics to what we have today. The mechanics are fine - the problem is this bug whereby skimmers spawn at altitude and fall down to the ground. Why a hotfix patch for this hasn't been issued already, only Frontier knows. My guess is that rather than the extra work involved in producing and rolling out a hotfix, they'd rather spend the money on including the fix with the future 2.4 release, and damned be the players, and let's just soak up the forum screaming for now until 2.4 drops.

Power-draw by hardware is the manufacturer's responsibility, not the software developer's. If the driver permits the card to be used in such a way as to exceed the specified power-draw limitations then that's also down to the manufacturer (who provided the drivers). It does seem that E: D stresses some parts of GPUs that other games can't reach - however that the hardware / driver combination should throttle its response to demands placed upon it, in the event that those demands exceed the capabilities of the hardware, is, as mentioned, a manufacturer / driver issue.

I expect that we'll get one a bit later this morning. Somebody at Frontier is going to have a very bad case of the Mondays.

Strange things with Palin too. A week ago I got excelent 139% DD for Cobra in 17th roll (came with 30 attempts). Went for more mats, came back with another 30 attempts and in ~15th got almost god roll of 140% for Vette. "Oh, so they've improved the chances". Off I went for 40 new rolls, this time for Pythons/Clippers. And out of 40 rolls, one was 31%, one 35% and all others stuck at 28%! Now go figure...

I don't think Frontier has much to worry about here. In fact if anyone is going to sue everybody else, it would be Universal. They created a series "some time ago" that was totally ripped off! :D Oh! And I love to see a ship from this series in Elite, complete with sparklers as it's rocket exhaust!

BD+47 2112 is exactly what it sounds like, a system so unimportant they didn't even bother to give it a proper name. I'd grown up on Hieb Settlement, under the Orsini Mining Platform, and people had petitioned for a proper name, but when they made the mistake of leaving it up to a popular vote and the number one choice ended up being "Rocky McRock Face," the local council deemed it better to just keep the system name as it was and allocate the funding for the change instead to childhood education. Hieb Settlement and the orbiting minding platform overhead weren't much to write home about, even if you called BD+47 2112 home. This was a resource system, and no doubt there'd be nothing left but pre-fab structures once the precious metals ran dry. My dad was a pilot--passenger liner, Orca, and I was learning to follow in his footsteps. As I got older he let me fly the stick more and more frequently, at least until we got within range of a planet's gravity well. Once I was old enough, he started...

The trade profits earned selling the relevant commodities at the CG station - and, with c.3,000 Cr/t profit in the most recent completed CG, it was quite useful for my Alt-CMDR.

The same could be said for the non-combat modifications being locked behind an Engineer requiring the CMDR to reach Dangerous in Combat Rank.

The EU has been too "nice", in part to placate the anti-federalist UK. The result has just been to leave Hungarians and Poles at the mercy of their teir terrible nationalist regimes. No more I think.

I'll accept their apology when other Commanders stop reading my ship name as "Queen C***iopeia" instead of the proper "Queen Cassiopeia" that they should be seeing when they encounter me in my Anaconda. ... of course swear filters in the game, the forums and a poor decision to include something in the Newsletter have nothing to do with each other so, like many others, I'm just using this as an opportunity to rant for the sake of ranting. Sad part is ... I read the newsletter and didn't even realize that I should be offended until I tripped on this thread in the forums. Now I'm aghast and scandalized. ;)

Good luck, CMDR. I've completed the Outlander Challenge myself. Not sure I'd want to try it with "E" modules though. I salute you.

To be able to swap between ships while undocked would change exploration - the player could sell their data at any point simply by logging in to a ship stored in the bubble. It would also affect gathering materials / data - as the player could leave a number of ships in different resource gathering locations and simply select the one located at the source of the particular material / data that they needed at that point. We have an all players solution at the moment - every player has to pilot their ship around the galaxy to the location they want their CMDR to be in. Time budget is not really an argument - it's a statement of a personal constraint. The size of the galaxy itself means that players need to make choices in relation to their play that suit their constraints.
