Nice! I just saw the headline for this game on Engadget and just looking at the accompanying screenshot and title thought to myself, "that's a game I might actually want to play." Clicked on the article and caught sight of who the developer is. BONUS!

Perhaps it's Blake's 7? To see Avon again...*gasp* :o EDIT: Just learned it's a new Jurassic Park style game title. Oh well, maybe next time FD? ;)

You're just picking and choosing what suits your method best - you're not including everything for the whole picture. This is my example showing your bias: Combat: Weapons + Armor + Shields + Manuevers Trade: Cargo + Jump Range Exploration: Jump Range Piracy: Weapons + Speed + Mass Look at this. You're conveniently missing out speed in combat, of all categories.

More a case for me that a New Save can progress something like as quickly as any other who's under the law and see variety in doing so. HAVE to say though you DO need a standard market BEFORE you can add a hookey one .. as hookey is by nature less logical and not great to build in. Always bound to be a secondary 'mechanic' then, with inevitably at least some delay whether the goal is parity or not .. but yes to keeping the eye on, for 100% sure.

Okay, I'll try to respond to each point; 1) I included Mass and Mass Lock as seperate categories because they are important and both are seperate; some pilots may try to add weight or take away weight (mass) to affect their ships speed or manouverability (personal preference), hence why it is originally counted. For example, there was a Mass balance pass of the Viper Mk.III (10 tonnes) several patches back because of such an issue when it came down the line, and some pilots take huge advantage of this - it made a big difference. 2) Mass Lock is entirely different to Mass - for instance, if I add more weight (mass) to a Corvette or Anaconda, and they go above a Cutter, it doesn't matter - they will still be unable to Mass Lock a Cutter, because Mass and Mass Lock are entirely different in how they work. 3) Some large weapons (many) will be able to pierce an Anaconda's Hull Hardness of 65, but may or may not a Cutter or Corvette at 70 (engineer dependent) - and while the Anaconda does have a higher...

Good to see a patch incoming :) I'm back on Permadeath mode again. I'm just going to remember to NEVER leave the game unattended to avoid accidental death (even if it shouldn't be possible where I am). I suspect I'll be fine if that's the case. Following the new storyline, still haven't caught up to where I was yet, but I did come across a crashed A-class shuttle with lots of slots. Shame it's ugly. Still, it'll do the trick while I save money for something sexier. It's funny how NMS and ED kind of mirror one another in some ways, in terms of how their updates add so much more to the game that by the time you get a year or so in, you wonder how anyone played it in its 1.0 version.

It would be unconventional but here are credits to make, collecting salvage, data point scans and mixture things you find in space (signal sources) while jumping from one planet to the next but it's going to be hand to mouth. Geysers fumeroles can sometimes be found too but basically as long as you don't go backwards. If you have less than I'd say three rebuys worth of cash on you, then probably a few standard trades to get that back up, but you should progress (exploration rank) and increase your cash slowly but steadily. As long as not too many crash landings to recoup is (always) key.

Interesting idea. This strikes me as a kind of "legal disguise", as it were, a kind of cloaking device of hiding in plain sight. Perhaps if bounties were increased 500%, that would suppress it better?

That's curious, as my permit was from the get go on 1.0

Two lines I reckon plus one look up. Agree to an extent. Only problem for me is a little predictable still. Small issue though, fun inside and with tip offs added - the mechanics work well already but ideally skirmishes will end up being a shade more transient.

Hi folks, this may have been discussed many times now, but I think the Corvette, Anaconda and Cutter need some sort of balancing pass. Below is the following table; 1 is very good, 2 is okay, and 3 is the worst. The number system goes against each of the ships strengths and weaknesses and is a simple points system to distinguish such (a way to discriminate the raw detail). If two ships share a common value, which is one, then the last ship's potential point score in that category will be 1 below, not 2 (example; Corvette and Cutter both share Armour Hardness values of 70 - so each score a 1 for being the best, which means the lowest the Anaconda can score next for being the worst with 65 Armour Hardness, is 2). Stars*: These are to simplify that two or more of the ships below are equal at something and share the same points value, which can be the lowest/highest value. Corvette:Weapons*: 1 Jump Range: 3

I doubt it - as players seeking to avoid PvP would have no idea if any of the ships around them were players hiding the fact - and bandwidth monitoring (using CTRL-B) is a tell-tale for whether there are other players in the instance. Plus there'd be the nagging doubt that the "NPC" targeted in a CZ, etc. might be a player.

Not a new idea - it was discussed in the DDF. .... sadly not yet implemented, just as NPC crew have not been implemented.
