Umm, what's there to miss? Nobody gets instanced with the novel characters but a few gankers who get their lulz & it's all over before it even begins properly. :S

Welcome home Commander! Euphoric for your return and thank you for contributing to Elite. Thankfully Dangerous is shaping up to be the signature Elite in the making and rightfully pays plenty homage to the originals beyond just game-play and aesthetics. Fly safely, watch your six and good luck with celestial reminiscing. Fly safe, drive dangerous and good luck with galactic reminiscing. The single best recommendation is to seriously take your time and experiment before you commit or switch between game-mode and play style. Don’t be afraid of a do-over or two and if needs be ‘clear your save’ can be found in-game under options menu. The most awesome gamepad software ever: Padstarr, Grifta Morphing Gamepad, TobiiEyeX Controller, ECHOTalkative AI VoiceAttack with HCSVoicepacks are highly commended for astutely impacting game-play and more. Even if you aren't able to get to Leesti on Wednesdays, we'd love to hear your opinion of our little club on our thread. It's true we do have a league, but our fighting isn't big league. It's not even little league. Micro league might be the best description. I have seen video evidence of people having fun in Star Citizen, so it is possible even in its current state. You may have seen the Star Citizen thread on this Elite forum and so know the current opinion of the game. My own misgivings have nothing to do with the game itself. I guess what it comes down to is that it's possible to have good fun playing any game as long as you're doing it with somebody else. One of the worst games ever was "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", so bad it was buried in a desert. But you could have fun with two copies of the game, a clear table, and a ping pong ball.

Normally you long press the "e" which gives you a selection of "e" character variants :)

No ire. If the rule applies to super powers it something similar should apply to independents too. Otherwise it is skewing results in one direction. based on nothing more than random traffic. My concern is about the players experience. EDIT - The super powers have plenty of tangible BGS effects. Do missions for them and get the most powerful ships in the game is the first that comes to mind.

It is supposed to be Salomé - don't know how to do an é on my phone. ;) And there is only one 'Salomé' in the game. Cheers, Drew.

Salome (and fellow protagonists) will have no special tech above and beyond what is available to players. Cheers, Drew.

"Writers packs" were offered as pledge awards in the original Elite Dangerous Kickstarter back in 2012. I was one of those who managed to grab one. Accompanying books have always been part of Elite (the original game back in 1984 came with a book in the packaging). Those books were written before ED was launched, so didn't have the advantage of having the actual game as a reference (though we had guide material and some videos). Thus their stories were merely that. My first book "Reclamation" was one of these, but did feature a storyline that continued into the game. With my second book, we choose a different route. With the game now available and with players already making their mark with factions and their own events, my second book would embrace this, shape it into a narrative and allow players to influence how the story unfolded. Hope that answers the question! Cheers,

Really. Not in my opinion. p.s. FDev's recent financial results suggest they are doing fine.

Right or wrong, this is not how FDev do things. There'll be nothing until they are sure what's made it in, and only then when it's close to being ready for beta. imho quite rightly. So, when's beta? Soon. Obviously

Ever since day one I've been at pains to say that you do not need to buy the book(s). They will not help you gain an advantage in game, they only serve to flesh out the characters and background in a way that will never occur in-game due to the different type of media they represent. Buy the books if you're interested and like reading. Everything you need to actually play is in the game. The story has been told in GalNet and in various points in the galaxy. Cheers, Drew.

Hello Adam. The majority of player faction are independent. Skewing stuff to the super powers is rail roading the game play and also does not make sense. It's not good for the player communities in general especially those who have set -up independent groups and factions because they have no interest in the super powers and want to create their own narrative. The weight towards super powers is basically turning a sandbox in to a one way street with a super power at the destination for any one interested in being independent and defeats the spirit of free from free play. Well that just my observation from what Ive gathered so far. Thank you for your time. o7 Please roll this bias back. Your virtual pal Ben
