OMG it's all true! There are in fact only six people playing Elite out of the ten who bought a copy. :) I'm sure this is all keeping at least one person entertained at least ;)

The 3 P's .. (in descending order of value) are Painite, Palladium, Platinum ... But there are ways and ways, things like Osmium might be more likely to turn up in missions (which I tend to take when I get back and provide there and then, from my cargo stock). Industrial and Hi Tech economies in boom are a good place to build rep for mining missions and if you do like mission taking, ice rings are worth considering, even though generally the minerals are worth less ton for ton in commodites. Set up looks reasonable but before you start mining you need a good scan of the ring, to know what it's made of. I can't recall if a normal scan gives you that so I usually carry detailed surface scanner. You can always think of having a small recon ship for searching out good places to mine, in range of a market, with discovery and DSS scanners fitted, then you can go and get your factory ship. K class stars are a good place to start when looking for metallic rings iirc.

Nah. Premiership football on the radio, and a beer. Not torpedos .. fit a mining laser And find metallic asteroids to mine if you want metals, you can also mine ice rings.

Welcome Commander! Grateful to have you onboard and thank you for contributing to Elite. Hopefully the following links will prove useful; link, link, link. If in doubt please post in the following thread and file a support ticket using your store login credentials. Fly safe, drive efficiently and good luck with your cosmic goings-on. The Galactic AcademyMentors will set you up for initial play-through and beyond. The following thread will help you find platform specific game-play and some. The single best recommendation is to seriously take your time and experiment before you commit or switch between game-mode and play style. Don’t be afraid of a do-over or two and if needs be ‘clear your save’ can be found in-game under options menu. Have fun acclimating, play-testing and configuring your control schemes to benefit you specifically long-term while you carry on with all-out galactic diplomacy. That's a good idea. For specific ranks get more decorations on your suit. Federal, Imperial and Alliance suits would be different. Faction clothing could be in the store as cosmetics.

You spent five years in game development. You just don't understand game development. Genuine Roberts is a perfectionist

And in my opinion - there's nothing wrong with that if the purchaser wishes to spend $400. Logically though, buying a $400 ship to play with in a game that hasn't progressed past pre-alpha, that has no game loop in which to perform it's intended function, where there are no game mechanics in which that intended function could even be possible, that where you continually t-pose through the mesh of said ship, and where there is absolutely no clear evidence that the situation will improve any time soon, we simply have to look at the facts of the matter. My lulzbucket exploded. I rest my case.

Well, the real beauty of opinions is that they are opinions, and are all just as valid as each other. Actual logic is a vicious beast though, which is why it needs gates :D

I use the trims for firegroups and sensor zoom, the slider for cargo scoop, and the left under-button for next destination select - it's handy as it's just a full thumb-down to hit.

You can certainly use the wheels as any inputs you want - but for me at least, it's awkward as anything. Someone somewhere out there though is undoubtedly laughing at me as a wheel-noob though.

You'd do a far, far better job than what CIG have previously demonstrated :D I'll volunteer to move your racks around so that they reach the fibre. No need for site surveys, safety loops or anything - let's just put a 300 degree bend in those optical babies and yes! 3 quid 6-plugs from Tesco are perfectly acceptable.

That's.... really quite disturbing. CIG apparently have the best marketing department ever, why would it need any help from anyone else, especially somewhere that the more "enthusiastic" backers have decried as urm, someplace irrelevant to everything.

It's a bit of a motley crew though - I can see a X52, X52 Pro, X56 - you would have thought they would have a default configuration and a stock setup so each build wouldn't need customised driver installs for each model, and each machine painstakingly paired to it's peripherals somewhere as chaotic as a live techshow, not to mention the hassle of getting used to the different bindings available. The simple solution to that of course, is to KB&M the hell out of everything and just have the wagglesticks as stage dressing :D Oh you are far too kind Sir!
