    it should be rather easy to test ... fixed height of ~20 m, some 0,5-1G planet, disengage FAOFF, once with bulkhads, once without, note damage?

    same here, so that's anecdotal evidence; as for testing see below :-/ i did a test, test showed nothing of it ... the problem here is to reverse engineer a bug, as it is unclear under which conditions it happens. my test can't confirm any of that.

    i always wanted to run a test on that ... for ramming collisions it has no effect (beside mass) - and that was tested nicely by combat guys. whether that translates to damage from planetary landings - no idea.

    yep, speed/manouverability for standard A-E-class thrusers increase till 50% optimal mass ... in game that's the value of "minimum mass".

    does using prospectors have any effect on numbers of materials, or does the material composition of an asteroid has any effect (i think it's a no for the second...)? wondering whether i should start my survey with or without prospectors.

    She didn't die, she escaped in her escape pod and is in a secret base as we speak. If she did die, then she was betrayed by her own people by creating a malfunction in her pod so it did not work. Every player, be it AI or CMDR has an escape pod in their ship don't forget. So much saltyness in this thread its untrue, people moaning cuz HP popped her ship and others cuz they didn't defend. Such strangeness.

    /moved to newcomers forum as above: you need to have pips in "SYS" in your powerdistributor, so they come back online or, if you have turned them off, turn them o in right hand channel or, if they turned off after deploying hardpoints, you have to get your powerpriorities right (in the right hand channel) or, if your shieldgenerator got destroyed for some weird reason, you have to repair... fly safe!

    whether you call it home, or base, or a regular base of some, there are several reasons to base yourself around the the same system for some time: - know your neighbours. as mission payouts depend on your local reputation, the more missions you run for a minor faction, the better payouts you get. in my regular bases i'm allied with most minor factions. - know your neighbourhood. where are the most beautifull haz res in icy rings? where do i get micro controllers? where can i buy that class 3 bi-weave? - getting an idea of how the backgroundsimulation works... in which state are all the smugglers with illegal rares spawned? why are basic medicines away from the market? why do i suddenly find outfitting which is normally not here? - maybe even getting involved to influence the "fate" of a npc minor faction ... helping that peacefull cooperative at the edge of inhabited space through times of war and to expand ... backing that federal rebels not to loose their last station ...

    you can find most information in the updated first post of this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/193064-A-Guide-to-Minor-Factions-and-the-Background-Sim - and if not, just ask there. winning margin for civil war is 3%, and for war is 5%. conflict goes pending when influence is matched, when none of the faction has a blocking conflict state (pending, active or recovering) and if they would change "position" (the lower one overtake the upper one in influence, or the upper one dropping below the other). experience is that in 95% of all cases the reason for a conflict not triggering is a conflict (war/civil war/ election - pending/active/recovering) of one of the two factions in another system
