Thank you to the devs and all the team for creating a game that I can completely lose myself in. The many, many hours that I've spent in the game has been worth far more than the amount I have paid. I look forward to many more years... and some exploration mechanics ;)

Oh go on then... But only because they know where I live... I have not been threatened in any way... :D Thanks to all the folks at FD you do a tough job.

I'm still interested to know what level of priority you think you "suggestions" should get. I am only putting this to highlight it for you

My hat is firmly off, hence my signature, hence my personal opinion. I am allowed one yes? I have not broken any forum rules in expressing my opinion. Would you prefer the prefix of 3rd party :p Anyone who's actually read my posts will know my interaction with the tools and some of the developers from an early stage, but you cannot throw a blanket over them. I have not, and never will, deny the amount of effort that has been put in, or the usefulness of the apps. However I, personally, don't think that the fact we are where we are only happened by people taking it upon themselves originally without permission (and sometimes expressly against permission) of FD, should be forgotten. So yes we're here, FD are going to communicate more with the developers, and the next time a group of them don't think there's enough communication... Well we'll just have to see. A toned down approach would suit me :) NDA's? Can't see it myself.

Ignorance ;) Concise, but not complete :) I have at no point claimed Frontier are entirely innocent, but neither are all of the tools.

He pretty much did open with that exact question. Boris tried to dodge it twice, but then he said it was correct and he had explained many times that the number was the gross number and blah blah blah.

As above, please do raise a support ticket; providing as much information as you can. Here on the forum we can only really provide player to player support.

Gutted that XB1 players are locked out, I have been trying to co-ordinate efforts on all platforms. :( The difficulty in doing that far outweigh's the benefit sadly :(

Did you hear the interview with Boris on the BBC this morning - plenty of comedy value but really - this guy is the Foreign Secretary.

Just going to reiterate this for new people: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/347987-support3rdparty-Why-we-temporarily-shut-down-our-sites?p=5447279#post5447279

No need to apologise :p it's a good way of looking at things. What we learnt is better communication is needed. And if you want respect, then you start by informing the community of the situation and asking questions, not demanding action.

Look we know you have an issue with the event at the weekend, but can you stop shoehorning it into every post?

Very well said sir. Still waiting for the OP to come and make a comment, rather than updating the first post with someone else's.

They know there's a lot of support, they obviously have the numbers ;) Only they can say if all other avenues had been exhausted, but considering it was said that this post was created specifically to get a response from FD, then that shows that no real effort had been made to recently contact FD. I can (as I have said many times before) understand the frustration at not having advanced warning at the changes 2.3 brought, but why nothing in the dedicated API forum, why straight here? We both know the answer to that, impact.

It creates more than a headache, it feeds on the animosity and anger that has been building up recently and exploits that. From the OP's perspective it makes perfect sense, that doesn't change the fact that I have an issue with it. People are free to agree or disagree with me as they wish.

I don't understand your point. I've never said they're not free to shut their sites down, they can do whatever they want with them, they own the ip of them. Taking them down and then encouraging the community to tell FD exactly what they think about that, I do have issue with.

Have never really used any of the tools. I've had a go at the ship builder one but find much in ED obscure and complex, and the markets are REALLY clunky to use

That's great Ed, I know the team work hard to try and sort things out and you know I know ;) So has the OP agreed to come and apologise for the way this was done, as you have made a post on behalf of FD stating your intentions and how things could have been done better? Don't worry I know the answer already. I always try to be positive, as hard as it is you know that, but I stand by what I said. At no point have there been any misleading about the levels of interaction, yes there were a couple of times where the communication could have been better, but is that all this really comes down to at the end of the day? Just communication? I don't think most of this thread thinks that's what it's about. We shall see... I am home thanks, I can only guess you haven't read most of my posts though :(

That's right - Slopey's tool (now discontinued I think) used an old method of harvesting the data from the game. At some point, FD said they didn't want players to use that method any more, so it went manual entry at that point I think.

No. I don't either because I don't understand them, there is much in ED that I find FAR too complex. - - - Updated - - - I often write down trade routes on post it notes. Alternatively there are 'walkthroughs'/guides.

There's a log file where the game writes events as individual json documents, and many of the 3rd party tools use it to give you something like a player journal, albeit out of the game. The thread on the data format is here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/275151-Commanders-log-manual-and-data-sample I use EDDI (https://github.com/cmdrmcdonald/EliteDangerousDataProvider) to get information from the log, and other sources. I have been here and watched the other times things were figured out, wait long enough until things stop moving as fast as some people want them to and we'll be back here again. I'm not trying to light any fires, the OP did that perfectly, apart from anything else it's raining here.

Well, it's not to protect from Govt per se, but as an insurance policy for 1st amendment, a US citizen tells me. Are you suggesting that The US army would turn against it's own citizens? That's a chilling thought. Anyway, the gun genie is out of the bottle now, so while criminals can get them illegally, US citizens may as well get them legally to protect trespassers and burglars and other crims who have them illegally!
