Welcome Commander! Proud to have you onboard and thank you for contributing to Elite. Apologies I'm not familiar with this particular community goal. The fact this one commodity is further away is part of the challenge and or endurance factor. Hopefully the initial commodity profit is worthwhile and your final reward after seven or so days will further reward your efforts. Fly safely, drive dangerously and good luck with your galactic activities. The Galactic AcademyMentors will set you up for initial play-through and beyond. In a thread somewhere on this forum, I started a discussion about what was the worst game ever. Notable examples included Penn & Teller's Desert Bus, a lawnmower simulator and even a London Underground simulator. I don't want to necro a thread (and I can't be bothered to look for it), but I just watched the above video (all 38 minutes and 16 seconds of it) and I think I agree with him, that is THE worst game ever. Now, the very end of the video, the last words he says, I think are particularly relevant to anyone (including me) who backed a certain space simulation game with a 6th thread about it on this forum. Don't skip to the end to find out what I am talking about, take the time to watch the video about the game he talks about. It'll make you glad that even No Man's Sky wasn't that bad.

No. I understand your thinking, but VR has proven to be a bigger load than 4K. But all is relative of course. If you're looking for rock solid 90 fps in a HAZ res most desktop PC's will struggle. Bumping settings will be at your own risk. And this is ignoring the drop in clarity. My advice would be to try before you buy. I had a Vive and was initially awestruck. But I ended up selling it again for a monitor and a EDTracker headtracker while I wait for next generation VR. Resolution and Field of View need to be higher and prices lower in my opinion. But the Rift is on sale as we speak. Half price of the Vive. Differences between the two are negligible: https://www.oculus.com/rift/

Famous Actor and Developer Ben Lenslock just has to flick the VR switch and it'll automagically become an immersive VR experience. The problem is - the forced animations, viewpoints, rate of motion, UI and low FPS will undoubtedly make it - were it ever to manifest - a truly sickening experience.

Based on your hardware it should do fine, but be prepared for a big hit compared to the clarity of 4K. Immersion for clarity is the trade-off. Edit: https://riftinfo.com/gtx-1060-powerful-enough-for-oculus-rift-and-htc-vive

If you go in a DBX, downgrade the fuel tank to 16t. Providing you set your route to main sequence stars (Oh Be A Fine Girl Kiss Me) in the galaxy map, you'll never go more than two unscoopable stars in a row, so save the weight.

"Monty's Revenge" ("Monty" got blown up) is my Python, and I love her. Engineered she has a respectable jump range of 26ly (I have been to Sag A* and back in her), packs a punch in a fight, and is fast and manoeuvrable. I also have a decent cargo hold of 144 tonnes and she can land on medium pads, making her perfect for mission running. I've flown most of the other ships in the game (including my Cutter and Corvette) but the Python is the most versatile of the lot. It also looks damn nice. :)

No - you miss the point. ED offers paint jobs etc as cosmetics. A player who purchases Bright Pink Shiny Paintjob enjoys no advantage over a player who purchased Dull Grey but Glowing Neon Paintjob. CIG are explicitly offering advantage - wether it's in ships or weapons or armour or space kittens.

I'm confused here. I want the best Space Game experience ever. If I wanted a poorly realised and implemented Home Shopping experience I'd dig out my grandma's QVC collection on Betamax. It would still be higher fidelity than whatever that had hopes to be. And the firearm control - dear #deity never let anyone who mocapped or modelled that near something with a firing pin.

Again - all purely thought experiment and conjecture. There is no game in which any of this takes place. There are no mechanics to support the imagination displayed here. There are no fleets, or mass Org battles, or an implemented cargo ship game loop, hacking ships, disabling defenses or beacons, losing exploration data (from the vast universe) or indeed much of anything at all. You could continue to post shiny videos from now until the end of eternity - but all they take to counter is a tree command.

Very interesting. Star Citizen runs like cured concrete on me and my friends rigs - and they are desktops with significant bits of kit in them. I even tried it on a Razer Blade Pro - and that was pretty awful - but there I wouldn't say it's CIG's fault. Maybe the secret to a wonderful Star Citizen Experience is a rebadged Dell. And they have entered Beta? Great news!

Lovely! I'm glad you had fun. Now did any of the players involved manage to capture some gameplay?

I uninstall quite often, and often do it in a fit of RAEG. Old version of RAMdisk is playing up something nasty - often to the point I just securewipe and go back to a build image from 6 months ago. Then I realise I never saved my bindings anywhere else than where my little batch file put them on the wiped drive - and have to go over everything all over again for the umpteenth time. I has a sad.

I get it ... too many alcohol laced mince pies today, messing with your head? Agreed about the Python, she's a git to deal with in a battle but you're right. Still, she's a beauty.

Thanks for the comment, yes I'm still around ... lurking. Total respect for that pro-trimmed beard there as well (tis way better than the crappy bum fluff I normally grow! :-/ ) I expect to see you piloting a Python at some point, totally suites the image.
