Sorry all, I probably sound a bit contrary and knocking on the OPs considered viewpoint, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Instead, I believe it's pretty evident the developer has tried hard to increment towards the combat and defence model they had in mind, but the game has instead drifted from that intent. So in my humble and fairly unimportant consideration, one has to ponder the notion of whether there is merit in trying to beat the horse, that is dead. Or realise it's dead, maybe bury it before it starts to stink and replace with a horse that's somewhat more alive. As in, make it a break, and then mend the break through improvements. Trying to restrict modules to one, or some such via power or thermal, means they just become defacto. Power and thermal are also fairly difficult things to restrict on due to the existing blueprints that allow considerable power increase/ or heat decrease gains to be made for the power plants. So this is just creating a new optimal defence point. It's...

To be fair, you can fool with Boosters all you like, people will just identify the new meta and then the complaints about TTK (ships being essentially remaining a flying castle) or "AI killed me in five seconds flat" arguments will start all over again. I think we have seen enough "fiddling". When frontier genuinely tried to shift some core values around a bunch of people had an anyurisim and made a huge amount of noise. I just don't see how the current system is overly salvageable. And I don't really believe for a moment yet another booster shuffle that leads to a raft of fresh meta chasing engineering re-roll will be overly palitable to the community. There's been quite enough blueprint changes already. Rather, I tend to believe the developer probably needs to fundimentally reset how damage is calculated, so shields, and lots of them, or a metric buttload of resistance, aren't the automatic answer to every question. The fact that the big three are succeptable to module sniping isn't a reason to not...

If only it was that simple. People are ignoring Frontier and stamping their own philosophy on what is, and isn't, correct. Probably because Frontier are not getting equally offended every five minutes and raising endless threads to be offended in, and instead working on the game. I am rather glad they are doing that, instead. I think I'll take a leaf out of their book and not not be bothered by it, either. Fly safe.

Except in Trumps case, were what he says pretty much is what is going on, because he lacks the intelligence or creativity to even lie deceptively most of the time. I mean we're basically talking about a toddler at the NATO summit.

It matters little how long, or not, it takes because if it's not "the same as me" it is wrong and the person is playing incorrectly. How do you balance that, do you think? Hint: you don't. The developer defines the terms, and people get to operate within those terms. Or not. We get to like it. Or not. But that doesn't extend to us setting the terms and bar for others. To be fair, frontier doesn't seem to know (or care), and aren't really consistent in application. Which isn't likely helping matters. However, developer inconsistencies aside, the danger is commanders believing they have an inalienable right to define the experience for others, and protest when they seemingly can't. I've seen a lot of that lately. The desire to force outcomes on others based on arbitrary reasons. And that's not a healthy thing.. and it keeps distilling down to that simple thing. "You will play my way, or you are wrong." Frontier will always be knocking out various credit avenues. But they never seem to be in a...

Yep. My GF studied law, she went to work in HR. The law degree is extremely useful in dealing with misconduct, grievances, business restructuring complying with guidelines, union negotiations etc. The only thing "wrong" about trying to get 50% educated to a high standard is that it's such a low figure. Genius could be hiding anywhere. Not just among the toffs of Chingford but maybe in the council estates of Sunderland. A scattergun approach to educating everyone to their potential is more likely to move the world along than making sure only a handful ever become educated because, like, education makes people vote against stuff like Brexit man.

Smaller government? More personal freedom? Lower taxes? Less collectivism? You're on the right wing. There is nothing wrong with that. There are a lot of people on the right who are to be admired even if we disagree with them (John McCain for example). Your claim that the "progressive left" are violent is wrong though.

Opinions vary on that, given that it would affect all players* in Open.... :) *: that might want to visit player populated areas.

Whether it is correct (or not) rather depends on one's opinion regarding direct PvP and the ability to completely avoid it in this game. Equal in the sense that, if there are 100,000 players in Open then that equates to an average of 1 player per 4,000,000 systems - and, at the very least, 399,999,900,000 of those systems would be empty. The point being that the risk is only increased when there is more than one player in an instance and there is the likelihood of hostility between those present. The fact that Frontier has stuck to their chosen design for the game throughout development and past release is the reason that there are an ever increasing number of these threads - started by players whose preferred play-style may be affected by the freedoms afforded to all players.

The alt-left and far left are not the progressive left, just as the rational right (arguing for a smaller state and capitalism) are not the alt-right (arguing for nationalism and white supremacism). An example of alt-left is George Galloway. Most on the progressive left find him as distasteful as I'm sure you find Steve Bannon.

I'm curious too, about these progressive attacks. Knifings and mass shootings one supposes. Or does Lysander feel that they are emotionally attacking him perhaps.

Do you have any examples? Not saying there is no such violence, just wondering what it is. Hippy pacificist liberal feminist "s" are not really noted for aggression, which is the general root of violence.

Frontier tried baby steps. A tiny reduction in stacking effect. Notice how we don't have that now? We don't, because people screamed murder. No, I actually believe we absolutely need the developer to sort this out, once and for all. Because the endless re-engineering of crap because some recipie changes or values shift is just wasteful and tends to create a negative experience. Do it once, right. And build the thing to be modular. So it can be adapted and built on. Not endless series of different colour bandages. Sometimes? You just have to pull that bandaid off.

I'm still waiting for the imperial Explorer with its (go live) jump range of 20 feet because it's twice the weight of Cutter. Also it would be nice to see the Panther Clipper be added that will have a miraculous hull mass like Anaconda and have the best jump range in the game. I'm happy for them to add more, but if we need a lot more ships, does that not suggest there are problems with the existing? And before they do, it would be nice to see ships that have dedicated roles, be actually the best at them, not overshadowed by multirole ships that are now essentially relabelled bestrole.

Yes because nothing is more helpful than fueling crackpot theories. It's not fixed because frontier have a history of being inconsistent with changes.

Noted. I am sorry but folks are taking two different words and giving them the same definition. To make an argument. It would help if the same people could understand the words "bug" and "exploit" can have a relationship, but do NOT have the same meaning. People are not all going to agree with you. That's okay. Just like it's okay you don't agree with them. Just like it's okay you can play one way, others play a different way-- oh. Lastly, it doesn't really matter what people are doing, if you are going to protest that some don't play the way you do (regardless of circumstances) out of some "unfair" concern, I still find that a problematic perspective. Because not everyone has the same motives or interests. To force people to all play the same way, is the logical conclusion of this argument. That's where it leads. Linear progression. Bugs and what not change every other week. You can't force people to play your way and automatically expect them to enjoy it. Just as you almost certainly wouldn't...

The developer is not consistent with changes and does not consider occasional credit inflation (the circumstances change, but it keeps on happening, so it does raise questions) world ending. That potentially some commanders care about it a lot more than a ridiculously busy developer. That's what it infers. Because that's the situation. The developer will close the loop on bugs as time progresses. That that may not progress as fast as anyone might like, may be a source of frustration, is plainly evident, but that in of itself is no reason to demand all play the exact same way. Issues are being conflated. As it seems is always the case. The only variable, is how much people are offended, or incensed by the situation.

Keeping endless shields of +10 protection isn't the solution though. Frontier has to work on making shields part of the puzzle. Not the puzzle. And yes, the fact that the big three were quite vulnerable to sniping, is as a consequence of gigantic shields. Frontier has spent a lot of time reorganising chairs for people, with varying degrees of success, rather than actually get traction on shifting how defensive module work. Sniping, as it stands, is a consequence of epic shields. The two are interlinked, so short of overhauling the entire mechanics, I am uncertain of how much more the chairs can be moved around, without essentially rehashing the same problems. Think it might be time for a circuit breaker. But it probably won't go down well.

Correct. Because all these suggestions are shifting deck chairs around the deck and, essentially, plea bargaining. I'll give you some shield boosters if you don't take my shields away. Because in essence, this is the problem. Shields have far more importance than they should. Shields should be part of a defensive measure. Not the defensive measure. Because whilst HRM and MRM help, the game is now built around more resistance/ more mj is good. Bi-weaves getting much faster regen is a start. That's the first positive move we've seen so far. But it doesn't go nearly far enough. Commanders are now over-reliant on shields and addicted to resistance/ strength. The only way to solve this, is to shift defence to be a layered approach, where shields are important, but not the only important factor. Until Frontier essentially forces the outcome, it's going to be the same argument, the same plea bargaining. Because, although I am sure you mean well, it is plea bargaining. Offering up a thing, to keep...
