This sounds similar to problems that first-time users of head trackers like TrackIR have - keeping left and right panels open by looking :) I don't know about VR kits, but head trackers have software curves which control the sensitivity for head movements. Just make 'em less sensitive until you feel comfortable. Once you get used to your kit, eventually you can keep steady gaze on the panel without straining your neck, and the panels stay open until you look away. If I am off-base here, I apologise.

OK I'm just updating this thread for whoever appeared to be interested in my "progress" in 3D Vision (I know, not really VR). Kit arrived today. Installed Helix Mod. Started ED, toggled "Compatibility Mode" off via nvidia hotkeys. Only after I toggled nvidia's "compatibility mode" off did the gauges all suddenly spring into 3D model mode. Then I used the Helix Mod's keys to get convergence and separation to where I felt comfortable (more or less). Had to use Nvidia's hotkeys to further fine-tune the effect until I don't see "double vision" when I read the left and right panels, as well as the Comms panel (top left) and the info panel (top right). My Depth (used to be called "stereo separation") is set to about 45%. Just enough to give depth perception and not enough to cause double images on words in menus :) I actually liked less convergence - the target holo and the fuel/cargo scoop/landing gear menu appear to be floating in front of the monitor (ie coming out towards me), but alas, that amount...

Wrong thread I know but... Try long range cannons. The mod doubles projectile speed. Also I hade the impression: The larger the cannon, the slower the speed. Small cannons are quite fun. ;)

+1 yep agreed! Though if modules were removed because of "cheating/using an exploit" a shadow ban would have been appropriate too IMHO.

Ohhh memories. Michael was first guy to communicate with us on Kickstarter. That was something. Neither he or we knew how this will turn out. Guys, all you have done is being either beautiful or interesting or both. Can't wait to see new secret project. It is also exciting to see FD to growh in strength and franchises. Keep them coming! We will keep playing! ;) Have fun Michael! And ohh see you out there in Elite :D

I have a pet theory why there is this "mile wide, inch deep" thing going around. Like the OP, I think that it's because the younger people have never/limited experience with games in the 80s. They've never experienced a "no handholding" way to play a game. RPGs at the time only had a Quest Journal (if that), and in the journal it is written in a narrative that is as if it's from the character's point of view - "I will need to seek out Tom, in the village of Haven's Reach, and ask him about this mysterious gem". There were totally no quest markers, no GPS arrows on the road to guide you. You basically had to READ. Plus, I even remember when RPG games didn't even have an in-game map. You basically drew squares on a graph paper and put it beside the computer to navigate your way around the game, with lines representing exits NSEW to go. So maybe they can't handle a no-handholding kind of game. If there's no quest markers, there's "nothing to do". Now they consider these as "Quality Of Life" which are...

Not every system "looks the same". I remember the first time I came across a star with rings. It was an awesome sight. I have NEVER seen one before, and I actually never thought that it was possible... but after reflecting upon it, why wouldn't a star have rings? Could be a planet failed to form that close to a star and it broke up and became a ring. Perhaps if Mercury in our own system had been closer to the sun, and it failed to form, our own sun might have a ring too! Then there are heart-stopping moments when we exit hyperspace right between twin suns that are so close together that heat starts climbing the moment you drop into normal space. Then you panic and jiggle/wiggle the stick trying to find an "escape route" before your ship goes kablooey, and you're like 27,000 LY from the nearest space station. There are also beautiful trinary systems, and more-than-three stars in a system that are so close together you wonder how it is possible. When I say close I mean within a couple of hundred...

Problem is people play games as achievement farms. As you said, combining all aspects of gameplay it gives considerable depth to the game. However people are used to max out/grind one aspect to the ground before moving to something else. When FD developed this game they said it is something they can pick up after stressful day and just relax flying into space. ED delivers that in spades. Now incoming core gameplay updates might add more dimension on lot of things. Maybe those who wants to do certain things with depth will be happy this time.

Loving this game, liking playing it. Unfortunately having too little time lately. Yes, it might not be for everyone and lot of criticisms are fair deal, but overall...still loving it.

.... and that is why one should not "pre-order" any games... or anything for that matter. I only buy something when I see that it does whatever I want it to do NOW... not 3 months later, 1 year later.

I haven't been there yet. But, it's on my to-do list, same as Hutton Orbital. ie, I'd like to at least try the trip once. Thing is, I'm having slight trouble deciding which ship to go in. I'm thinking with the Thargoids around now I should be bringing a ship that has pew pews along, and that would cut my jump range somewhat. And depending on the ship, the combat capability etc etc, I'm just putting it off again and again. I would also like to make it out to Beagle point too, since if I'm going out to Colonia I'm kinda like already a significant portion of the way there already. It'd be such a waste to turn around and come back to the bubble without going there.

Pfft... Singapore is 30C temperatures on average (may vary between 29C to 35C), whole year round. It's "room temperature" to us :p When it dips to 27C or so, we say "it's freezing cold!" :D
