    thanks to all the exploiting that has being going on, any form of balance in the form of credits is now gone. what is trivial to a billionaire who spanked the likes of quince, will be insanely harsh to the likes of me who goes out of their way not to do anything which feels like abusing "cheap" mechanics. The whole notion of engineers providing unique irreplaceable items is totally broken with the magic duplication in insurance. I have bought this up, and Sandro covered it directly in a live stream. I suggested it was currently not working properly, and that much better to have a dark souls style, you lose the engineered gear but give us each a "private" tracker which allowed us to have a uss that only us could see and allow us to go and salvage our weapons from our derelict ship - which we then take to the engineer who created them and can repair them for a fee. however sandro - whilst admitting that some would like it - countered that this would be considered unfair to those who get blown up a...

    Or the OP has entered the signal source close to the planet. Flying towards the planet causes wobbling, IIRC this was introduced to encourage doing surface port missions in SRV instead of ship.

    There is truth in that... but, (and i know its a dirty word) but i would say the stuff in the DDF all sounds reasonable. Not too pie in the sky. To me that came accross as a sensible, well thought out list of achievable design features. I agree DB's comments about big game hunting on ELWs were going a bit "Star Citizen!" levels of optimism, but for those players hoping for the DDF I do not consider those to be unreasonable. (but then i would say that i suppose) I would say the same is true of the star citizen backers. Many are not expecting call of duty beating FPSer on top of Mass Effect level of RPG on top of brilliant multiplayer privateer space game. Some are, but i would guess many would be happy with sure, a kick backside new privateer like space game with a bit of multiplayer (because that was the original pitch) and then all the rest of the stuff is just the gravy. In truth Frontier were right to concentrate on getting Elite reboot space game out 1st because this is what most people...

    personally i like the ban punishment. dont get me wrong, some anti cheat stuff is good, but a tick box saying DO NOT cheat or face a ban, as well as a list of punishable exploits , followed by a ban hammer i think would be great.... but all that said, i think i will be doing some google fu on refunds for SC this weekend. I backed this with the hope of VR but it is not going to be there are launch and possibly never. The full game could release tomorrow, all singing and all dancing, but without VR i would STILL be logging into Elite, warts and all, so with that in mind, its a waste of money for me buying it full price. Besides, all i wanted was a new spiritual successor to privateer, with the possibility of a bit of multiplayer with mates, i really dont give 2 hoots about an mmo.

    Well I'd rather have them make water worlds landable and no underwater gameplay than nothing at all. It's a lot of work to populate underwater. Although many water worlds would be lifeless. That's like a major expansion. I prefer to land on an Earth-like planet with alien jungles.

    It would be very cool to explore water worlds. This is easier to generate procedurally than an atmospheric world with lush forests. I don't mind if we can't go underwater. We could dock at cool bases above sea-level. Such as Tipoca City of the Kamino in Star Wars.

    The notorious grind for engineer upgrades would still be there. It'd be less boring and dull if we can get the necessary materials via trading. Grinding in the form of spending hundreds of hours searching for materials is NOT fun gameplay imo. Credits (capital) shouldn't be meaningless. Just like in real-life, someone with a lot of money (credits) should have stuff to buy or trade at that spending level. That's why things like base-building and guilds are interesting, because it would be a money-sink and provide something interesting for rich players to spend on + improve multiplayer/socialization. Being able to trade materials and commodities with players opens up a new level and deeper layer of gameplay. Because trading is also a form of gameplay. The grind for materials is what caused many people to stop playing.

    We only know 2 alien species atm: Thargoids = they look hostile, very alien and cool. I hope we can also interact with the Oresrians in a friendly manner. Guardians = apparently they are extinct so we can't do much with them. The galaxy needs more aliens such as Mammalian, Reptilian, Avian, Arthropoid, Molluscoid, Fungoid, Plantoid and robots in the game Stellaris there's many species:

    The problem I find with SC is what they SAY is not what I have seen in game. So far SC is ime a bit of a jack of all trades. The FPS parts are generic, and the flight characteristics just not as fun as ED, far better suited to kB/m than the hotas game play promised. Ofcourse this is my subjective view and things can changed. No VR any time soon tho and that alone has me on the cusp of refund. But if SC does it for you then cool :)
