I find this to be mostly ill informed. For instance, it was definately not easier to make money in the beginning of the game. In fact it was much harder to make money then than it is now! Missions pay many times more now than they did then! Trading for the most part is just as profitable as it every was. Even piracy and mining are more profitable though not by much. ------------ Back to a general comment ------------- I guess only commanders who have truly put in the crazy amount of time in this game can understand! It's too bad others have to down play what they've done with various accusations of exploitation. This is very interesting to me, because it mirrors reality where people resent the rich calling them all crooks when lots of the time it's not the case.

If all we are doing is testing their software for them, why are WE paying THEM for us to do it? Why are WE paying FDev to "beta" test a game full of bugs that need to be ironed out, bugs that can crash our computers, etc.? Why in the WORLD would anyone pay for that? Would you go to work in the morning if your employer told you "Sure, you love your job, but starting tomorrow YOU are going to pay ME for the privilege of coming to work"? I certainly do not mind testing their software and helping FDev make the game better for everyone but the payoff for beta testers (since years ago, developers stopped providing the software for free in exchange for beta testing) has been early access to gameplay features. I have been "beta" testing games since the 1980s and received a bunch of free games in exchange for helping the developers create a better, more stable, more enjoyable game. The later trend of actually CHARGING users to work for them makes me want to throw up a little. Frankly, for me the most...

They did that last year though! Absolutely enormous (if you have no idea of scale) alien ships stalking through a canyon, with the (completely original) Predatoralike standing by a torch and going "Yaargghhh!" - all in a segment very honestly captioned as Vandull. Many thousands of people saw the live broadcast, many giggled. Attempts of CIG trying to clean it up then simply lead to more giggles - and they ended up removing the entire thing, and eventually replacing it with a heavily edited version. Those who saw it, will remember seeing it :D

I've been playing since about 10 days after the game released. I'm too embarrassed to say how many hours I've put into the game (more than any other game I've ever played), but I am Triple Elite for it so that's something. YET AGAIN I see someone insinuates that exploits were the sole reason for commanders billions. Some may find that comical, but I don't. That term is thrown around way too much in this forum. I can say fairly confidently that my billions and ranks are not from exploits. I an assure you that exploits are not abused by many other commanders who are continually tarred with the exploit brush! I've stayed away from any activities involving crazy amounts of mission stacking and multiple redundant rewards for the same accomplishments. I've also stay away from other fleeting exploits which came and went because I knew it would do nothing but diminish my enjoyment of the game in the long run. I've also stayed away from any engineering exploits though this is a bit off topic....

Of that I have no doubt. It'll be followed a week later by the "Road to Lulzbucketry" documentary where Genuine Roberts waves his hands, puts his feet up on the table, and explains during a crisis meeting that they had to drop a few features because the animations weren't quite there, and that it would be unfair to the backers to release a sub-par product, and he's had a new Vision that includes base-building in Middle Earth. Then we'll cut to scenes of various friendly devs happily talking about how they are building revolutionary things that are completely part of the core game, that they are not tech demos or on-rails experiences for display and marketing purposes only. We'll go to Famous Actor and Developer Ben Lenslock, who explains in excruciating detail that CIG are working on something called a "button" - then the audio cuts out for fifteen minutes. Closeup on the Handbag.

I don't have a billion but those I've spoken to who do grinded their way to the top and did so because they enjoy grinding in video games. I consider trading to be grinding, and though I've made most of my money exploring anymore exploring really feels like a grind to me as well. I bought this game like 4 days after the release, and I feel like credits have become easier to come by. I suppose I could be wrong.

I said yesterday that I felt that if I interdict you and you don't give me your cargo or open fire on me, that I'll kill you. I think the whole point of it is that it's unfair, because it's trying to be somewhat realistic and real life isn't fair so why should space be fair? I think griefing is BS and I think there should be in game consequences for it. Going to like Eravate and killing noobie Sidewinders would be pretty low for instance. I think whacking explorers coming back for the first time in months is BS, but honestly when I come back once I'm within about 200 ly I just make a bunch of quick jumps and try to get to a station to sell my data as soon as I can. Loitering with millions of credits in data is living dangerously. I think no one is off limits in this game though and you should be ready when playing open to have to deal with Dbags. I think the crime system needs to be reworked a little but I feel that it's acceptable. I think piracy is a valid playstyle in this game though because I...

Here a trick I learned long time ago. Never fly at the Planet always offset your course by 3 to 5 degrees. So it prevents you from hitting a planet. If you are not paying attention you will fly past the Planet with out damage. If the issue landing on planets it best to use low G systems and put the shield on max when landing. I started exploring after the SRV was released and I still out in deep space.

This is where you have to choose what is better. Scan the whole system and whine about it. While other players love the vastness of space. Or you can use system map and pick the best planets to scan and jump to a new system so it doesn't take as long. You don't have to do the whole system if it takes it too long.

Instead of raising the cap. Maybe a way the player can adjust the max of each Item because some stuff it seems there too much of one item but not enough of anything else.

Congrats on the DK2! Setup has changed over the years - there is no need to set extended desktop or the DK2 runtime. Make sure you have updated Win7 fully. Unplug everything DK2 related (HDMI, USB, sync cable) and run setup from here: https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/setup/ Once setup has completed, reboot. Setup your HOTAS X with whatever driver it needs. Plug your DK2 back in. Don't launch the Oculus program. Switch it on - it should have an amber light. Don't put it on your head yet. Launch Elite, set your controller as your HOTAS X and in the 3d settings choose HMD as your 3d device. You should notice the headset light go blue, and the sensor light up blue also. Look into the DK2, and you will (hopefully) get an image of a lovely Eagle and an SRV. Put it on, launch a training mission, and enjoy :D I also suggest wearing a tshirt that hides drool. You will almost certainly need it.

Straight into stereotypes with a dose of body shaming. Mixed identities happen, and they can be corrected. Also aren't Americans supposed to be all for solving problems directly, rather than relying on nanny-state police like us girly Europeans? Suddenly they are just supposed to "let the government deal with it"?

Sadly I suspect you are correct in this, at least when it comes to the post-truth, "alt-right" crowd. Which is not an honest description of what is happening here. Letting this stuff just slide is not acceptable.

Missions when allied provide funds, exploring now is an earner. I traded up but that was a year ago.

Hi Ben; I'm not much of a communicator. But, I'm privately messaging my friends. -Not going to continue on the 'Forums' for a while; They are just too toxic for me, and 'wind' me up too much...

Ive' played this 'game' enthusiastically since released and love space; - to be honest though, I'm more of a game and less of a deep 'Sim' player. -So I'll be following developments...
