truth is i would like the karma system expanded to all modes..... if i want to roleplay a bad guy i would like the game to treat me as such even if i am in solo.

You won't sully your combat ships with cargo? Fine. What's stopping you from from buying a Cobra for trade?

a valid point.. at which point one needs to go back to the design documents, and see if it is working as intended, and if you think it isnt and that the other modes were never meant to be allowed to affect the BGS, only open then ask the devs if THEY feel it is working as intended or if it should be changed......

You make a compelling case, and I may just switch to a bigger power plant on my project build for next year's DWE2.

Once you realize that the big three are big, slow, prone to be focused any time multiple hostiles are encountered, and that there are various effects and tactics used against the big three frequently enough that they cannot be ignored, then you can begin to manage PvP in one. Having significant experience fighting in and against the smaller, more popular PvP ships is also critical for knowing what they are capable of, and thus understanding where the strengths and weaknesses of larger vessels lay in comparison. You also have to realize, that piloting ability being similar, one of the big three is, at best, worth two FDLs or FASes in a fight. Given that they also cost ten times as much to replace, you have to be able to recognize when you are outmatched, and be willing to leave, assuming you don't want to face much more attrition than your foes. Larger engagements are also progressively more difficult for larger vessels to handle, even if they have allies. A well conceived and flow big three can last...

nope! ;) I started in open, played there for 1st 6 months and it was great... then it changed, so i left.... I may go back one day, but it is at a point now where i need to be convinced open is more immersive and closer the the lore of the game i am roleplaying than where I play is... frankly i do not believe FD can close pandoras box again, but i hope they can...... but (and no offence meant) it wont be a post from the likes of you who gets me back in. when i can watch a live stream with Ed Lewis in open and see the game working as advertised by DB, with him being pirated and what not but still living to fly another day and still ultimately going about his play, then i may go back in. when the devs are visibly not enjoying an experience in open you know something is inherantly broken. PS I get all of 1-4 from your list in my game play.

Frankly, my barely modded shieldless hauler taxi can survive most encounters with most PvP fit Corvettes. The argument that Ed's encounters were survivable is a blatant fallacy. Not fair? Sure. Not sporting? Sure. Not survivable? Hardly. Indeed, he survived the first interdiction and had he dropped out of SC and/or made a second jump, there likely would not have been a second one. There were also plenty of things that could have been done to minimize the duration of the engagements and the damage taken, even if there needed to be multiple interdictions.

because pimax are going all out out the high end.... where as the new MS HMDS as well as the new 2018 HMDs from oculus are aiming at getting VR to a wider audience. the pimas 8k is pretty damn expensive (if you dont already have a vive) from oculus' point of view they already have their high end of VR users covered with the rift, their marketing is now at the lower end. YES this means that for a time oculus will not be top dog with the BEST HMD (arguably they are not now, but they are in the ball park at least) but oculus WILL be working on a CV2.... when that comes out i am hopeful that it will raise the bar again.** its a game of cat & mouse / leapfrog but it is looking like oculus want their rift to have a shelf life of 3 years or so, and they seem content that if that means that for a small amount of that time they are not out and out the best they are ok with that. as for the vive..... HTC are probably not in the best place right now to be building a new HMD ** that said design descisions...

Oh blimey, it can type too! :D Now if you don't mind non of you mod types are supposed to be in here... We're all being good and you can trust us to self moderate :) Plus I hear they are rebooting Mr. Ed so go learn your lines! I spent several hours watching movie trailers this morning and not once did I see any keys being revealed... Used maybe but never revealed.

Yes, this is why I'm trying to collect empirical data from others using the VM channel visualiser between the game and their output device. This is what I'm trying to achieve either by downmixing the 7.0 channels to stereo in Voicemeeter or by disabling centre, side and rear speakers in Windows settings and hoping that Elite splats them onto Front left and right and it comes out much like its headphone stereo mix, and then in both cases isolating the .1 to the BK.

No you don't. I always play in open (except when my connection is rubbish) and have done since premium beta. I wouldn't play any other way, but I think the way players are given the choice is fantastic. Those who just want a game to play and aren't interested in meeting new people have solo. Those who just want to muck about with their mates or those who want to play by a different set of rules have group. You and I and many others may prefer open, but why try to force that on everyone else?

Really not sure what you'd balance it with. Fuel scoops have no mass and virtually no power draw - further, on anything but a super-underpowered exploration build, because you never run the fuel scoop at the same time as multiple other modules, you can use power priorities to absorb a very high power draw. (They could give them mass - I don't understand why they don't! - but doing that now would potentially strand a lot of outer-rim explorers) Balancing it with a heat increase, on the other hand, is also tricky - either your faster scooping speed gets you in and out before heating becomes an issue, or it directly counters the rate increase because you have to scoop from further out to avoid overheating, so you never get the claimed speed increase unless you're willing to use a heatsink. There's also the issue that anything above a C-rated scoop is ridiculously overpriced for the added benefit, so any extra rate mod would get used more to just take low-rated scoops and halve the price of the ship...

First the Bee crisis (and a big deal that is, still), now this: 'Warning of 'ecological Armageddon' after dramatic plunge in insect numbers': https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/oct/18/warning-of-ecological-armageddon-after-dramatic-plunge-in-insect-numbers Now i really think, that like with the Bee, the reason is probably the pesticide use, but then again the EU has banned specific pesticides that seem to be the root of the Bee issue? Hmm. But yeah my money is on the pesticides (the clue might be in the name?).

i didnt know this, however, when is it coming out? the cynical part of me wonders if the attachment will only come out once someone else has done the leg work in designing it, then they can copy it. is this true? if so that is cool as well, but the images i saw definitely had the wands..... but even so however, its still copying the knuckles i presume and not developing them. I question how much grass roots development they are doing rather than copying what others have developed? (which again is fine, but i was just commenting on when someone asked why is it that pimax can potentially produce a superior headset than the vive, and the rift.)

My exploration Anaconda needs power management; I have to enable the vehicle hangar once the thrusters are off, in order to deploy the SRV. The ship complains about module disabling when it auto-orbits (because I'm not there to turn the hangar back off!) but has always nailed the return landing even on relatively high-G worlds. The OP has made me wonder, though, whether the life support system is one of the things that is being disabled whenever the ship goes on autopilot. Might I be using up valuable oxygen whenever the ship dismisses itself and returns? Not that the few minutes it provides would do me any good thousands of ly from anywhere, but it's something I need to check when I next launch the game. The further thought then occurs: if the life support is being disabled whenever the ship is in automatic flight, will it eventually cause the ship to explode if the oxygen runs out, as it would if I was on board? I really need to do some research on this...

I'm certainly not going to be defending my countries actual historical reputation, but here we are....exchanging idea's and info in 'english' (and as a welshman that has special 'pain' ;) ), on a forum for an 'english' developed and great game, that would not have existed without the industrial revolution......and even the Industrial revolution i would argue is going to prove a probable 'net negative' (you can look in my elite environmental thread for some of the why of that?). Yet here we are, on computers, in the internet, exchanging the language of the 'oppressor' (which is a language born out of Celtic, German, French and time!). Not a real patriot, but still i find it hard not to recognise what the UK has contributed to the world as positives, and that is even taking into account all the terrible history within the term 'UK'. Credit should be given where deserved, despite all that. ------ Now having said that, i really can not see the actual 'golden era' that pro-Brexit people talk about, it's...

I don't care about all these messages. They're repetitive, but not immersion breaking. The messages I truly hate are the ones which on internal ship intercom messages, which somehow magically get broadcast millions of miles! "This is your captain ..." -> No for the love of Pete, you're not my captain because I'm not in your ship. "I don't think I can go through with the wedding." -> I think instead of killed the next Thargoid, I'll massacre a wedding party! Frontier, please remove this non-sense!

Hi Ben; I'm not much of a communicator. But, I'm privately messaging my friends. -Not going to continue on the 'Forums' for a while; They are just too toxic for me, and 'wind' me up too much...

Ive' played this 'game' enthusiastically since released and love space; - to be honest though, I'm more of a game and less of a deep 'Sim' player. -So I'll be following developments...
