Sorry to hear about your experience. Luckily I didn't have any problems whatsoever with X52 Pro drivers... Just plug and play, the only thing I had to do was disable Clutch Mode, so the pinky button on the stick worked correctly.

Now, with modhat off :) My first HOTAS was Thrustmaster T.Flight X and it broke after 14 months of usage. I then purchased X52 Pro and I have it since then. I recently had to remove the throttle limiters (the part that marks -75% and +75%), but other than that I didn't have any problems with it. My mate however has returned 12 X52 Pros because they keep breaking. It is true that Mad Catz Saitek HOTAS' can be of poor build quality, but not all of them are that bad. It is a lottery unfortunately though... I would go for Warthog, but it lacks yaw, because it's a replica of a real life system - and yaw on the stick is a must for me. So I keep using my X52 Pro, hoping that there will be something nice and shiny available on the market by the time it breaks. It's also worth nothing that the build quality of the former Saitek/MatCatz HOTAS' may improve when Logitech manufactured batches will start shipping.

I don't think that's on the cards .. and I wouldn't support it actually (outside of an iron man mode) even though there's a certain logic to losing the special upgrade if your tuned up ship gets destroyed. Question is maybe things like, should insurance cost more on a modded ship .. or how about a no / low claims bonus, so insurance gets progressively more expensive the more you claim.

I could too. On a nearly related topic .. will insurance be getting more expensive, if Bank of Zaonce suffers massive losses when the Thargoid threat turns out to be real (like I've been telling you all along it is)?

    1. Kwestia gustu.

Nice tip. I like NeilF's idea of a quick link button in Station Services (though depends what else is planned to go on that page) and as far as the OP goes, a shipyard that can store but doesn't sell ships .. maybe? I get the convenience of it obviously but I think people will start to use engineer bases as a home base and even on a purely roleplaying level .. not sure he/she would appreciate that. I get the feeling Engineers are quiet, keep to themselves hermit types and the fact they're slightly remote kind of resonates with me. Besides how often do you visit an Engineer really? Not all that often in the grand scheme of things I think. Neither do I really. I have a bookmark for any unlocked engineer (eg. ENGINEER WEPS, ENGINEER SHIELDS) and also a bookmark for, ideally a Hi Tech or other shipyard next door (ENGINEER BASE WEPS, ENGINEER BASE SHEILDS) Scouted once, named like that, they sit together in the alphabetical bookmark list, very quick to find.

Been there! Obviously bad for your ship but good, in that engineering can go wrong on you. Reminds me of deploying hardpoints and the rest of your ship shutting down, for lack of power, when surrounded by a wing of Vipers, on your first trip out, and so on .. eek! You can remove the mod of course - I think in any outfitting shop (don't think you can do from ship right panel)

Yeah. You CAN skip through it though. <spacebar> works for me on my set up, once you've started the sequence. Sub-optimal I agree though. I think a bribe the engineer shortcut maybe - BUT I do like and would hope to preserve - that you can choose which blueprint you're going to take to push your tier up. Obviously you choose materials you don't intend to use later, saving those for the mod you really want, and the game wouldn't be able to predict which is which eg. by taking random materials to artificially tier up. He could maybe ask you to jettison, 20 materials for Grade 5 access but .. messy (and to program I expect).

+1 I also repeat that I think the sound effects make a huge difference to the perception here, especially so because the sliders aren't shown to scale. I've also suggested before a basic read out of your ship's new basic stats (jump range, mass and power up/down) with the modification, before accept.

Off topic Cmdr Zeeman but it's not a random setting .. ! When you choose the blueprint you KNOW power will go up by 5 - 10 % but intergrity will go down by 5 - 10% .. or vice versa but you are choosing the bias and that bias is what you get! The exact setting only brings into effect a fundamental truth - engineering tolerances.

OK .. +1 As an extension - maybe - that's (1) more expensive, 3 of each material per blueprint not 1 (2) uses benefit/drawback balancing (eg. if power goes up this much, integrity goes down by that much) .. based off the experience FD gain from the system we have now. I wouldn't remove the RNG entirely - that's a shipyard - I would include ONE unexpected benefit and ONE unexpected drawback (possibly on different modules altogether) for the fact .. that engineering is NEVER an entirely exact science.

Hi fella, you wanted a reminder to share your market data dump on Dropbox

    Thanks again,

  9. Missed your post as I was away from Ed and the forums for a few days. Thanks for your kind words. Good to see that I'm not the only one with 'frustation'. Thanks for your trade routes, I will try them, if/when I have the money for them as they are quite expensive iirc. As I said in the OP or later on I'm using slopey's trade tool atm but even that doesn't get me going. Luckily next week on the 24th PB2 will be released with a 3 systems. I guess the market will flatten quit quickly again after that so I MUST play it directly on that evening.

I will start this evening again if I can manage it. I will keep you informed. Thanks for the offer of flying with me in the future. Would be nice. But for that to happen 'communication' must be in the game first. I think comm. will change ED quit a bit.

    Hi Wolverine,
I just wanted to say thanks for posting your 'frustration' message on the forums. Your comments and the following replies have helped me a lot to stay calm and think clearly. I'm also PB-frustrated as an 80's speccy Elite player :-)
I've been grinding on the Chango-Dahan route, making a relatively safe 343 profit per unit for trading Tantalum from Dahan to Chango and then with Domestic Appliances from Chango to Dahan for 79 unit profit. Not great, but good for docking training!
Please let me know if you have any success gaining monies from the comments in that forum thread or elsewhere. I'd be very happy to fly with you into a scuffle in the future - but need to get a stick and brush up on my dogfighting skills first!
