No can do, as may PVP'ers farm those rare mats by working around the game modes. They'd find a data point that has a high drop rate of said materials and they would skip between Open/Solo for hours, just farming the mats. Almost actually playing the game, but not really ;)

You're mistaken. I try to think objectively. I wasn't griefed in a loooong time - I know how to avoid being griefed. I also know how to escape - so I'm rarely getting killed these days. I still think that players who play in anti-social manner should have the opportunities to be anti-social reduced greatly. It's all about the consequences. Why would Pilots' Federation allow one of their members to dock at their home station right after that someone killed another member of the organisation for no reason? Why would a Federal security forces not continuously chase a guy who keeps murdering innocent people in their systems? Why an insurance company would be willing to repay a ship rebuy cost for a mass murderer? Murder is one of the most serious crimes in Elite and those who commit it should face the appropriate consequences. They should be isolated from civilised parts of space, but they should be allowed to roam free in Anarchy systems, maybe Dictatorships as well, I don't know. But murderers...

Hello Commanders, Just a heads up that we will run a maintenance process soon. We do not have any precise date right now as we are waiting for an extended maintenance on the game side to launch ours. This maintenance will mainly focus on migrating to a whole new server. Our current one, is nearly at his most sadly. It served well as a start of a personel private project, but now EDSM handles around 15 millions pages per month, and so we need more horse power. You may have notice that it hards to keep things fluid mainly over the weekends. We have tried to optimise a lot where we could, but there is not much we can do.

Obviously not listening to enough soccer on the radio! (Just imagine it's zero-G soccer if you like 'mersion - Man City, No-G Premiere Champs in 3304 ??! Could be ...)

Similar. Discovered yesterday my passport is out of date by about a week. So that - and my French being a little less than bien prevents application. Hopefully someone will step forward though. o7

I suppose you could try telling that, to Canonn, Elite Racers, Distant Worlds, Fuel Rats, Hutton Truckers, Winged Hussars, Cmdr Tony Curtis .. or me for that matter (pick faction and support, through economic states, civil war one week, expansion the next, lockdown or outbreak the week after that. Plenty of game there.)

It's bugged: the scan target is underground. Get your SRV up on it's nose and you should be able to find it.

As already said, I'll try to see if I can have a day or two to spare, but 6 days is obviously a little too much on such short notice! :)

We have that evidence. If you scan the wreck of the Thargoid scout in HIP 17125 you get this message: ...Material Analysis complete... ...High concentrations of mycoid particle detected... ...Searching known databases for identification... ...Results confirmed... Designation: Thargoid Scout

It's possible nothing does. FDev are well aware that people have found stuff before from footage of the sky in videos. It's entirely possible that they were expecting us to find this chain of bases that way. The fact that the useful sky shot in the trailer is from the first base in the chain is suggestive, IMO.

I'm not sure I agree with this either actually. I know it's what people say - ED is a game game, not a simulator - but I'd say (at present) it's a rudimentary simulation. The whole design ethos is simulation imo, because the galaxy is procedurally generated not scripted. Where ED takes short cuts with the simulation that's generally in places that are complex to simulate .. and to get too far into them at this stage would be a bad priority .. you are though, today, able to play, in the relatively rudimentary simulation. I also say 'relatively' rudimentary, because actually there are a very wide variety of mechanics in the game already.

Ah-ha .. HOUSE !? I definitely see updates on missions (slated for 3.2 and 3.3, Q2 and Q3 next year I think) will be really helpful to many people but for myself, genuinely - I have more pew-pew fun in my Imperial Eagle than in ANY other ship I reckon .. and it didn't take me long to buy it either. Do I win five pounds?

OK, so killing traders in CG is not necessarily as bad as some other lowly forms of releasing your tension (near-station ramming, ganging up on harmless Sideys etc.). But still, like you said, that's a very low PVP style. I personally play mostly in Open and I accept the consequences of that. But because there are no serious consequences for the murderers can you really blame those of the traders that want to avoid consequences for themselves? I don't blame them for CL - if they are killed over and over again by the "PVP" (quotes intentional) players while they laugh in their faces... Really, I can understand. It's not to say this is right - CL is a cheat, no question about that. But I can certainly see WHY people do it. Fully agree. But C&P has to be really punishing. 20 million Credits more for a rebuy means nothing if you have billions in your account. Trend catching means nothing if they will take months to set in stone. Pilots Federation bounty mens nothing if all it means is being wanted in...

Ah, thanks. I didn't check from the planet because obviously the view would be different but I must have missed the match anyway (from space). Or maybe I didn't check at all because the base doesn't match the other scene from the trailer. So it looks like the two scenes from the trailer are from different bases we've already found. I approved the post for you ;)

Am I right in thinking that we still haven't found the base shown in the trailer? I haven't been able to match the skybox or the two scenes to a single base. I guess it could be that the trailer actually showed scenes from two bases.

The move is not any indication of anything. I suggested it belonged in the aliens subforum and one of the other mods agreed. That's all.

I don't think that's the case, besides the lower your opponent's rank compared to yours, the less progress you get for a kill. And vice versa. So it doesn't make any sense to shoot Harmless pilots in Sidey's.

Agreed. What about mindless ganking? Isn't that a game-wide problem too? (Albeit not a cheat per-se, more of an abuse). ::EDIT:: Just to clarify. I mean situations like wing of 4 experienced players in engineered Vettes/FDL's/whatever killing new players in Sidewinders in starter systems or the same wing of experienced players jumping and killing a defenceless (relatively) transporter ship in a trade CG (aka not pirating, just plain killing for no reason).

Eksperymentalne moduły, służące do walki z Thargoidami, można nabyć na kilku typach baz planetarnych. Na pewno Military... reszty niestety nie pamiętam.

Hi fella, you wanted a reminder to share your market data dump on Dropbox

    Thanks again,

    Mike
  9. Missed your post as I was away from Ed and the forums for a few days. Thanks for your kind words. Good to see that I'm not the only one with 'frustation'. Thanks for your trade routes, I will try them, if/when I have the money for them as they are quite expensive iirc. As I said in the OP or later on I'm using slopey's trade tool atm but even that doesn't get me going. Luckily next week on the 24th PB2 will be released with a 3 systems. I guess the market will flatten quit quickly again after that so I MUST play it directly on that evening.

I will start this evening again if I can manage it. I will keep you informed. Thanks for the offer of flying with me in the future. Would be nice. But for that to happen 'communication' must be in the game first. I think comm. will change ED quit a bit.

    Hi Wolverine,
I just wanted to say thanks for posting your 'frustration' message on the forums. Your comments and the following replies have helped me a lot to stay calm and think clearly. I'm also PB-frustrated as an 80's speccy Elite player :-)
I've been grinding on the Chango-Dahan route, making a relatively safe 343 profit per unit for trading Tantalum from Dahan to Chango and then with Domestic Appliances from Chango to Dahan for 79 unit profit. Not great, but good for docking training!
Please let me know if you have any success gaining monies from the comments in that forum thread or elsewhere. I'd be very happy to fly with you into a scuffle in the future - but need to get a stick and brush up on my dogfighting skills first!

    Trader Ted (Ed.)
