    Ah, thanks. I didn't check from the planet because obviously the view would be different but I must have missed the match anyway (from space). Or maybe I didn't check at all because the base doesn't match the other scene from the trailer. So it looks like the two scenes from the trailer are from different bases we've already found. I approved the post for you ;)

    Am I right in thinking that we still haven't found the base shown in the trailer? I haven't been able to match the skybox or the two scenes to a single base. I guess it could be that the trailer actually showed scenes from two bases.

    I don't think that's the case, besides the lower your opponent's rank compared to yours, the less progress you get for a kill. And vice versa. So it doesn't make any sense to shoot Harmless pilots in Sidey's.

    Agreed. What about mindless ganking? Isn't that a game-wide problem too? (Albeit not a cheat per-se, more of an abuse). ::EDIT:: Just to clarify. I mean situations like wing of 4 experienced players in engineered Vettes/FDL's/whatever killing new players in Sidewinders in starter systems or the same wing of experienced players jumping and killing a defenceless (relatively) transporter ship in a trade CG (aka not pirating, just plain killing for no reason).

    Well, now we're not talking about Multicrew, but the whole new NPC ship crew game mechanics. I'd be all up for it! But we're talking about Multi Crew in this thread and I was writing my posts in the context of that particular feature.

    Oh, I'm all for imagination mate. I'm of the "you need imagination to play Elite" people and I use it a lot, believe me. Role playing is a big thing for me and at this current stage you need a lot of make believe to role play in Elite :) I just don't see why waste dev time on NPC pilots if all they do would be sitting in the co-pilot's chair next to you doing noting and looking pretty. I certainly see the immersion aspect of it, but I just don't think that it's what Elite needs at this stage. There are more pressing things to improve on in my opinion. It would not improve Multi Crew at all, but instead it'd be just another incomplete feature that people would moan about, in addition to all the other ones, including MC.

    I agree! But - now we're talking about proper ship crew mechanics, not Multi Crew with NPC's instead of players though. These are 2 different things - with some overlapping aspects.

    I have the worst crush .. on Rey (so sue me. :p) Some of The Force Awakens was filmed local to me as it happens (Forest of Dean .. the most magical forest on the face of the planet according to Kathleen Kennedy) but when Rey closed her eyes, tuned into The Force and became a super-cool swordswoman .. wowee, I like. A lot. Cor. Also as it happens I didn't mind the high styling of the prequels as, people have said, it is for kids really. But as any Sci-Fantasy geek probably (and I'm one) looking forward to December 15 or soon after. I hope there's plenty of lightside/darkside psychobabble.

    What for? All a crew member can do is launch a fighter or take control of the turrets. Both are already available for AI. NPC can fly a fighter and turret's just operate on their own. There'd be nothing to do for NPC crew. Although it'd be nice to have your fighter pilot sat next to you rather than in the fighter bay (I always feel sorry for the guy/gal lol)

    I never use it with random players. I rarely use it with my friends even. Mostly when someone comes across something interesting and the other guy can't fly his ship over there. It's a tourist seat feature for me. It really does need more work to become something actually useful and fun IMHO. Saying that I don't think it's as bad as some are depicting it here when it comes to bugs and disconnections. It works pretty flawless most of the time.

    Well, compared to Horizons roadmap, which had only one thing I cared for - planet landings - Beyond has more things I care about: improved visuals for celestial bodies, and more flesh on mining and exploration's bones. So it sounds good so far; nothing to be overwhelmingly excited about, but it's good they're working on these. Of course, it remains to be seen what they'll actually deliver. Let's hope the improved mining and exploration will be more than just some new shallow trinkets thrown on top. And it was strange to see people's (and devs) reaction over voiced galnet. Like it's "wow" the second coming of Christ or something. I mean, yeah, it's nice to have, and probably now more people are going to actually bother with it, instead of ignoring it completely, but it's not something to be so excited about. It's like this game is keeping players on such a meager diet, they get excited over anything. Less is more I guess. Ascetic game design. There's a certain elegance about Elite that I like though,...

    At least that. And some kind of scanner filtering perhaps, because there's situations when there's so much crap on it, it becomes useless. In my opinion, FD should have studied Independence War 2 to the death, because there's lots of things that game did good. And I think they most likely did look into it, but not with all the attention it deserves.

  9. Missed your post as I was away from Ed and the forums for a few days. Thanks for your kind words. Good to see that I'm not the only one with 'frustation'. Thanks for your trade routes, I will try them, if/when I have the money for them as they are quite expensive iirc. As I said in the OP or later on I'm using slopey's trade tool atm but even that doesn't get me going. Luckily next week on the 24th PB2 will be released with a 3 systems. I guess the market will flatten quit quickly again after that so I MUST play it directly on that evening.

    I will start this evening again if I can manage it. I will keep you informed. Thanks for the offer of flying with me in the future. Would be nice. But for that to happen 'communication' must be in the game first. I think comm. will change ED quit a bit.

    I just wanted to say thanks for posting your 'frustration' message on the forums. Your comments and the following replies have helped me a lot to stay calm and think clearly. I'm also PB-frustrated as an 80's speccy Elite player :-)
    I've been grinding on the Chango-Dahan route, making a relatively safe 343 profit per unit for trading Tantalum from Dahan to Chango and then with Domestic Appliances from Chango to Dahan for 79 unit profit. Not great, but good for docking training!
    Please let me know if you have any success gaining monies from the comments in that forum thread or elsewhere. I'd be very happy to fly with you into a scuffle in the future - but need to get a stick and brush up on my dogfighting skills first!
