Except that's not what I'm saying. I certainly don't want the speed of the ships halved, that would be silly. ;) Well yes, when it comes down to it that's a lot of what this game is about... Shuffling ships about. :) How likely is it that in an entire galaxy, there are only one or two engineers that can perform a particular customisation? Engineers are meant to be shady, secretive people. They shouldn't be on popular routes. It is only for gameplay (and probably implementation) reasons that we have a limited number of engineer bases - I don't think they would be high traffic at all.

That's a very polite way of describing the recharge on the prismatics. When they go down, they're out for at least five minutes, if not more. I've never had a PvE encounter where I have come anywhere close to losing the shields. I take my shields dropping as a sign that I've overstayed my welcome - so I just want as strong a shield as possible. The only time I've lost my prismatics is when I hit silent running by mistake. That wakes you up in a CZ. :) Of course, since that incident, I've changed the binding...

Well, ok. I think what we have plays very well. I personally like that I can't go directly to an engineer's base and ship my entire fleet there. In fact, I've just been engineering my drives. I flew my Cutter out to Alcazar's Hope yesterday and then transferred my AspX there. Modules I transferred to the engineer's base. If I could just do everything from the engineer's base, it would be quicker and less interesting. The game is about flying - why would I want to minimise my flying time? Ship transfer is currently explained by huge ships being used to transfer your ship. You are essentially asking for a custom service to deliver your ship to a custom destination (i.e. anywhere) that is not on a popular route. To be honest, I wouldn't have a problem if this were implemented - but it should be prohibitively expensive. I also would appreciate missions so that other players could potentially deliver ships (I've seen this suggested many times). Well, I probably wouldn't appreciate this so much now...

Ah yes - I also have 6 engineered shield boosters alongside my 2 point defences. If I'm expecting trouble (or heading to a CZ), I just swap my 6A for an 8A prismatic, but the boosters are always on-board.

But they wouldn't let me store a car there and then drive another one over...

lol, lots of cargo racks. :) My trading configuration consists of 6A prismatic shields, with everything else cargo. I get 728 tons capacity. I did try engineering a 5A prismatic, but haven't got the roll yet that will allow me to fit it to the Cutter. If only PvE, this configuration works fine (you can easily deal with any NPCs that get in your way). A-rate and engineer the internals as you like.

Most of my local garages do not sell cars, they just repair them. The ones that sell them have bigger premises to store the cars. I see it as perfectly reasonable (in-game and logically) that not every base will have a shipyard. Somewhere to land your ship and somewhere to store it indefinitely are two different requirements. I believe it was a design decision rather than an oversight. And yes, personally I believe it helps the game and isn't worth reconsidering.

It is indeed silly game mechanic because almost everybody will ignore it anyway and go to interweb/inara or take paper and pen. FD should get rid of it or gave us option to look up all blueprint requirements because pin one bp at the time does not add anything to the game at all.

Hmm I don't think this is a good idea since the new OS may think I am trying to install to a 2nd PC and invalidate my cd-key. Upgrading Mainboard is equivalent to a new computer for M$oft. The only reason I may want to do that (and refrain from entering CD-KEY & activating during installation) is to check the installation media is working.

    I just purchased a new motherboard, cpu and RAM: Intel® Core i7-7820X, ( BX80673I77820X ) 039551 572,05€ 1 572,05€ MSI X299 RAIDER, Mainboard ( 7A94-001R ) 039565 218,74€ 1 218,74€ Kingston HyperX DIMM 8GB DDR4-2666 Kit, ( HX426C15FBK2/8 ) 034376 86,50€ 2 173,00€ And naturally I am moving from win7(64) to win10(64). Anything I should be paying particular attention with E: D and windows 10? I am also an X-52 Pro owner. I heard there were issues regarding this stick and windows 10. Is there any advice regarding X-52Pro, installing and using it on Windows 10?

I don't like that idea at all. Ship transfers requiring shipyards seems reasonable to me. You can usually find a base close to an engineer that has a shipyard, and I enjoy looking for them when they're not obvious (Maia, for example).

Well, if you're just going to dump them I could take them, if for nothing more than to experience an exchange of cargo (never done that before). :) However, my AspX doesn't have space. I'm going to go and get my Cutter and bring it over, as I need to engineer the drives anyway. That's got space. I won't be on until quite late tomorrow, though. Made me chuckle.

Sightseeing tours are for exploration, but most (if not all) of the transport missions count towards your trade rank. You can tell what they'll count towards as they'll give you a minimum rank. If it is a trade rank, it's trade. :)

Seen the pretty lights a couple of times now. Good to meet up with you Semris. :) I wish I could work out how to put chat back onto local, though... Once I've selected someone from the friends list, I haven't found a way to then revert back to local. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious... Anyone care to enlighten me (and suitably embarrass me, I'm sure :) )? I left the UA and UL there, and attempted to leave the UP too. However, I did have the UP in my SRV hold when I boarded my ship. I selected to jettison it (ship is full anyway), but I then got a transaction error. When I logged back in, I had been magically transported outside the ruins in the SRV. No UP in hold (I presumed it had jettisoned ok, but apparently not). Am going to find another UP and head back, will probably be an hour or so.

Confirmed, and now got the UL. :) No need to scan anything, but Solo mode definitely helps.

Solo mode was the key. You don't need to scan anything. Just go into the chamber (I had the UP in my cargo hold, in case that is important) and the unknown links drop down when you go up to the devices that hold them. So, I'm now parked up at the base with all three items and ready to start a light-show. :)

Ah, will try that. I didn't know that you could get in with the UP (thought that needed the UA). I'll also try in Solo. I have two corrosion resistant cargo racks, so can keep all three items when I get them.

I can quite honestly say that I have never used "My Immersion" as an argument anywhere. I've already addressed the weeks of progress issue. You can go full speed into a star and all that will happen is that you get ripped out of supercruise and suffer superficial damage. This isn't an issue at all. I've fallen asleep while exploring on many occasions... My argument is as I've already given. The throttle is working exactly as a throttle would. If the input is at maximum, then the ship should be accelerating. What you are suggesting is that the throttle be ignored just because you've made a hyperspace jump, which doesn't make any sense. If I leave my throttle at maximum, it is with intent. I expect the ship to follow that intent, not assume that just because I've jumped I must have forgotten to set the throttle back... As an aside, I believe that in the early days I also made this request. I was using an Xbox controller at the time, and it didn't make sense to me then. However, once someone...
