    This is not about efficiency, or taking opportunities within the designed mechanics of the game. This is willfully exploiting a loophole in a mechanic to deliberately gain an advantage! You realise you are advocating that doing this in an online game, where your actions directly affect other people? If you want to deliberately cheat yourself in a single player game then that is your lookout, you want to do it in an online game (however you justify it to yourself)... That is not on.

    However the developers have explicitly stated, on more than one occasion, that is not an exploit. It was a design decision, there were some bugs, most have been squished, and they are always reviewing design decisions.

    Hehe, what a strange post. None of your first 6 points (with the possible exception of the first as I don't know what you mean) are exploits, none of them have been said by FD to be exploits. Some of them could be considered to be not the ideal design choice, which is why things are always reviewed as has been confirmed by the devs.

    Well they've identified people who have openly admitted to using this exploit (and the ones who haven't) and have taken action. As I know you are aware, identifying combat logging is trickier and you can't just take someone posting on a forum to say they're done (or not done as has been proven today) something as a reason to punish them. One step at a time.

    Hey Mitch, I don't think that's what Jack was talking about, in fact I know it wasn't because I have exactly the same issue. Apparently, I've never been to any of the systems in the bubble, even where I store my ships. I deleted my Beta save file so I could take part in the CG. Then afterwards, in the live build, I flew out to the California Nebula, these jumps show as Visited Systems.

    Hey please don't! :eek: It's a special little ship, and to everyone in this forum those non-boosted records are always meaningful. My own personal best AspX time is rather old these days - I had my eye on the 9-hour barrier before Shizuka and Rusti beat me to it. I understand the amount of effort that goes into planning a record run, and I knew as soon as they set off that Shizuka and Rusti would break the 9-hour barrier (from my own planning calculations and tests). I just wasn't sure it Rusti would re-take the AspX record at the first attempt. I also knew that Alot would break the 8 hour barrier sooner or later, and look forward to seeing what the engineered version of Rhonda can do. But old time or not - what I never, ever expected to see was a Hauler beat my AspX time. I've watched every AspX attempt wondering if I'd be pushed down further, but in 2 years only 4 have bested me. And then you did it in a hauler. For me it's the most stunning A* run of them all. And really it's only to the...

    Crumbs, I go away for a weekend and all hell breaks loose! First up: sorry you feel that way Rankaze, that's rough. For what it's worth, I don't think your record is even slightly meaningless - the same as any non-neutron-boosted record isn't, the same as my sub-8 one won't be meaningless once someone blows past it (and they will!). It proves what can be done in the "classic" setup, and I suspect most people - myself included - wouldn't have expected that time to be achievable until some madman went and did it. Tough little ship indeed. :p I'll probably just summarise my feelings on the back-and-forth over the last few pages: I believe Allitnil is correct and even the Hauler can go faster with neutron boosts. I suspect a top-of-board time is not out of the question. I don't think spansh is worth a damn for this purpose - it only wants a jump range, which means it cannot produce jumps which are only valid with non-full tanks, which is a huge problem here. The DBX will indeed continue to get shafted...

    Maybe some more vehemently than others :) I'm all for posting concerns, I've certainly done that many times, but that's not what the OP was. Yep I agree, no grind for me and I understand why and like the implementation of the system.
