Maybe so, but I remember that docking with rotational correction and FA off used to take me a minute or two just to line up, and now it's like there's a magnet that nixes the side rotation + centrifugal acceleration. Likewise, the landing speed conditions for surfaces seem a bit more forgiving. But yeah, maybe I am just more use to my new hotas because lining up for the mail slot is easier now too. Could also be because I was using a X52 Pro before, ha! Yeah that could explain it. That stick is very clunky and inaccurate by comparison.

Just checking, is FA off easier now? I remember it being a bit hard. The Isonona video inspired me to try once again to go full FA off, and it seems like no big deal anymore to fly through canyons, land on planets, scoop cargo (off planet surfaces even), or dock at a rotating station with rotational correction off as well. I use Hotas and Pedals as well. ThrustMaster T.16000M FCS + MFG Crosswind Pedals. Stick is for Pitch + Yaw, Pedals are for Roll.

While I sincerely hope that the OP's quote of SJA was in reference to the run of the mill NPCs we encounter in Human space, I suspect that this is yet another adaptation of the Thargoids' AI and that they will be getting some cool new moves. Luckily I am parked in the Pleiades so I can enjoy this new marvel first hand either way. Tbh, I haven't been able to kill a Thargoid solo since the last round of updates with the dodging Cyclops and more aggressive Thargon swarm. If they are being buffed even further, then the Thargoids will definitely become a Wing-necessary event! Which is fine with me, because I am sure I can find a wing if I need to in Aegis Core or some other Thargoid fighting group.

I think the mycoid virus was tested on humans. From Vaccine 2 log (emphasis mine): "They've given us material the weapon has been tested on, both organic and inorganic, human and nonhuman." There is a little doubt as perhaps it was tested only on inorganic human matter. But if that's the case then this was a pretty misleading statement from a scientist who should be in the habit of speaking more precisely.

The Thargoid scout was found due to a bug that revealed navigation markers for all special sites in a system when you scanned one special site (IIRC). That would imply that if there was another wreck in the same system it would probably have been found the same way. So I think the human crash site seen in the trailer is probably in another system.

Yes, I don't like it either. I'd rather that the stuff in the trailers was not in game as it appears in the trailer: that it was just an example of what can be found. I'd also prefer they found some way of varying the individual assets they use to create these sites rather than different bases containing identical models (same applies to the Guardian ruins and the Thargoid wrecks). It bugs me that every INRA sign has identical text and has fallen to an identical angle. It bugs me that the mycoid tanks have the same stains in three different bases. It bugs me that the same break occurs in the same piece of wall of dozens of Guardian ruins. Etc. I'm probably being unrealistic given FDev's size, but I wish they'd found a way to procedurally generate some of this stuff.

I am torn. Engineering vs Thargoids is likely to make it very difficult to balance the fights for all players and hence force Frontier to enact auto-leveling of the Thargoid AI difficulty. It would also just add a grind without adding gameplay that couldn't be better added by other things. If they do allow AX weapon engineering, it should only be under the conditions: - only to add secondary effects - only if the increase power is NOT RNG, but instead gives PREDICTABLE power increases. This is the ONLY way you could keep the fights vs Thargoids balanced.

Yeah but to be fair, the OP was asking for advice on a Corvette. The Cutter can slot an extra flak cannon and boost to 470+ so it's not quite the same thing. I've watched your videos with the Cutter and it's quite a bit different. Not necessarily easier, but the Cutter just has a different set of issues/benefits. Imo, the Anaconda might be the best of the three, if you can mod the engines and hull well enough.

Probably more likely, the two pilots tried to out run the Thargoid, and when the EMP hit them it acted like silent running on a ship at long range. Hence the Thargoid wasn't picking up any threats on it's radar and just left.

Pretty entertaining, yeah I'm not usually super impressed by isononas PVE FAOff videos either, but this one was PVP with fixed weapons + FAOff which is indeed quite impressive. Thermal may be the easiest fixed, but still he proved he can do it. Next up fixed MCs with FAOff. :D

It's bugged: the scan target is underground. Get your SRV up on it's nose and you should be able to find it.

We have that evidence. If you scan the wreck of the Thargoid scout in HIP 17125 you get this message: ...Material Analysis complete... ...High concentrations of mycoid particle detected... ...Searching known databases for identification... ...Results confirmed... Designation: Thargoid Scout

It's possible nothing does. FDev are well aware that people have found stuff before from footage of the sky in videos. It's entirely possible that they were expecting us to find this chain of bases that way. The fact that the useful sky shot in the trailer is from the first base in the chain is suggestive, IMO.

Ed does in fact do live streams in PG with certain groups like Canonn or Elite Racers just to help instancing and avoid interference from griefers ;) But that's because there's something actually happening. A live stream of a CG just doesn't work in Solo/PG. CGs are already repetitive and uneventful enough when you're slogging through them in Open! Frankly, I'd rather watch a livestream of a DMV waiting room than a solo/PG CG livestream, where there is absolutely no chance of anything unexpected happening. Or just cut out the middle man and mix some ambien with whiskey and call it a night.

Ah, thanks. I didn't check from the planet because obviously the view would be different but I must have missed the match anyway (from space). Or maybe I didn't check at all because the base doesn't match the other scene from the trailer. So it looks like the two scenes from the trailer are from different bases we've already found. I approved the post for you ;)

Am I right in thinking that we still haven't found the base shown in the trailer? I haven't been able to match the skybox or the two scenes to a single base. I guess it could be that the trailer actually showed scenes from two bases.

The move is not any indication of anything. I suggested it belonged in the aliens subforum and one of the other mods agreed. That's all.

Yeah, so we had similar questions about the fed and imp convoys which were being found - albeit far less regularly (maddeningly so!) - carrying Thargoid Sensors. Why were they carrying them and where were they taking them to? And yeah - it's a dangerous place to be so why have so many convoys out there? Doesn't make a lot of sense unless there's foul play; or there's a secret Fed and Imp presence out there (an NHSS I dropped into today had both a Cutter and a FAS in it). Let's say it was Thargoids who destroyed 'em, though - why do Thargoids attack? If you get too close, or if you're carrying something they don't like. Speaking of which; the NHSS I dropped into today showed the normal behaviour: scanned me and deployed Thargons, then went back to scanning the wreckage. Then it collected the damaged escape pod and sodded off. I don't think the Thargoid took exception to the escape pod, so there's definitely more to this than meets the eye.

My Corvette boosts to ~330 and I have zero issues getting 5+km from a Thargoid for a low wake egress. You just have to use their momentum against them, and fly smart. Btw, you can do the same thing in PVP to ditch someone who is marginally faster than you without high waking. You can't use 2 flak on a Corvette, so good aim is more critical taking out the Thargons. On the plus side it only takes a few shots from one flak cannon. On the minus side, my heart sniping aim is good but my ToT timing sucks. So I'm back to running out of missiles. Funny thing is, I think I was doing better without using flak cannons even with the AI/Thargon upgrade. They're time not spent killing hearts.

Ed's Revenge! Can't wait to see that live stream, should be good. Rubble... ship rubble everywhere. Adam Woods, very cool response: "what is fulfilling is... working in games". Nice. :)
