I liked it when flying with fligh assis off was a true measure of skillful flying. I was rubbish at it but used it on my T9. I enjoed havning to find black markets rather than just looking them up. I liek the dagressive and acutally dangerosus NPC hunter killers that tested both comabt and flying. I i liked the slow credi progression becasue gaining something like a paython was a real big deal, PLayer wirten articles ion Galne made the gaem more alives rather than the meaingless feed about ecnomc booms etc in systems that no one cares about and empty CGs that boild down to go grind over here for x thsi week. DOnt worry it wil be a win and teh narriative wil be pointless or predetermiend. Im goig to bed. Im clearly jaded

Scramble spectrum doesn't do anything to shields. Indeed the effect reduces ROF so they actually do less damage than the same weapon with no special. Even against bare hull, the effect doesn't scale that well; the malfunction just starts momentarily sooner.

Perhaps. But then why did he mention it in his OP?

What the heck is with you lately, Ziggy? When did you start writing lengthy, philosophical posts? Are you really Ziggy? No, seriously you raise good points and of course, I respect yours and many other viewpoints in this game, including the various playstyles provided for all of us to enjoy. Even if it doesn't always come out that way. I'll be honest, I interpret(ed) AA's OP as yet another veiled disparagement of the PvP world, and that cynicism came out in the last part of my post. The bulk of my post was simply to illustrate a different side of PvP that you don't often hear on the forum, and truth be told if I wished to wax lyrical I could fill up pages with inspiring (to some) anecdotes & stories shedding light on an often misunderstood playstyle. At any rate thank you for taking the time to give me a solid opinion based post. Now go away before we end up hugging or something.

The funny part is the "griefer who shall not be named" was probably watching your arrival the whole way coming in on your stream, OP, just crunching on popcorn and keeping an eye on Netflix on the side. Sooo, maybe streaming your exact location might not be such a hot idea in the future? Just a thought:)

I remember when there was no solo or pg, when we had a handful of systems.. full on multiplayer. Now those were the days..

Play in wings is another form of pvp and has limited mention when we are talking about open-solo debates , I'm also a bgs player open only because everyone should know what are you doing in their system and has the right to defend it , pvp or not the whole solo argument is the possibility of lose that hurts more the spirit than the credit balance

Congratulations. But in reality you never needed to do that. You chose your own path, and always had freedom if you wished it.

Sounds like we agree in broad strokes, but I'm a little confused by the last part of your post: How have I preached and put down other folks' playstyle in the post of mine you're quoting from? Thanks, Truesilver. When it comes to law and order in the ED universe I sort of consider myself the sci-fi equivalent of Wyatt Earp, so I think AA will be a good fit. Joining AA is a brand new development and I've hardly interacted with them yet, but will be reporting for duty next week. I have been taking a lot of training from AA masters for several months via the GCI discord (as well as SDC hierarchy), which helped my decision to join. What an eye opener it has been being around players of such high caliber.

"Awful" is a subjective, opinionated adjective. There's any other number of ways to point out what's wrong, in your view, without using derogatory terms. We have this. "X faction needs Y amount of Z commodity, find and bring it back to this station." We have this, data scan missions and passenger missions.

Glad you like it. I dunno if I like the sound of "infinite limpets", though. I have enough problems with the way Materials works, I'd rather have some believability here! Some sort of harpoon gun sounds kind of neat, though.

Your words here: "ED has great visuals for ships and stations but they never change. They all look the same after a while and mostly, you're zipping passed big circles and landing at stations. TD has times square and all these other places to go see plus all the other things like the animals and other people surviving " That part in bold accurately describes the depiction of New York City in movies and video games...and google maps for that matter. To say that Elite Dangerous lacks variety, yet New York City doesn't even though NYC looks exactly the same *every time* - that's just a wee bit silly. So you're counting every little branch and twig in TD, but ED you're disingenuously discounting at least 75% of art assets right there, let alone things you don't mention like celestial objects, planetside stuff, probes, etc.? Bias much, buddy?

I would never condescend to try and convince the dedicated PvE crowd of the joys of a well rounded PvP lifestyle, but I would like to share a brief story for the players yet on the fence. Yesterday I was coming back from a whirlwind trip to Sag A* with a bunch of tourists. The entire trip is scheduled to take 2 weeks in real time and I'm still around 17,000 LY's away from my port of departure in Sothis. During all of that honk jump scooping I maintain a steady watch on all of my PvP discord channels to stay in touch with my many brothers and sisters of the sword. A call for help suddenly goes out on the Adle's Armada channel; four seperate tags meant to call to arms four sperate battle groups in the Armada, all pinging desktops and celphones of the top tiers of the Erevate defense force. Immediately the channel came alive with responders from all levels of the command structure. BBFA was spotted in Erevate with a wing of Corvettes, Cutters and FdL's. When queried about the purpose of the wing all the...

I have similar misgivings about how mandatory Engineering has become, but I do not see the scenario in this thread as related. Sit ~4km inside of a hard mass-lock get surprised by multiple PvP fit ships and you are in major trouble, regardless of the version of the game. Something to test, for sure.

I'm not really worried about collisions in my FDL...it's extremely rare for a decent pilot to let another ship contact his/hers in a vessel with that sort of all-axis acceleration. The only ships nimble enough to ram an FDL that doesn't want to be rammed, even if the FDL is trying to stay close enough to leverage frags, are ships that will suffer more than the FDL.

In general, engineering has increased defensive capabilities more than offensive ones. Pre-2.1, the exact same ships in the same scenario would have destroyed the OP's vessel in less time. Nine times in ten, I could give a 'raw n00b' one of my heavily engineered combat vessels and then proceed to shoot them down with an unmodified example of the same ship.
