We'll be attempting to keep a tight rope when it comes to the hype, simmering down rumors, and conveying what is and isn't coming/happening in the coming year. Essentially, we hope to set expectations of what is to come with Jurassic World Evolution. :)

Welcome Commander! Grateful to have you onboard and thank you for contributing to Elite. Hopefully the following links will prove useful; link, link, link. If in doubt please post in the following thread and file a support ticket using your store login credentials. Fly safe, drive efficiently and good luck with your cosmic goings-on. The Galactic AcademyMentors will set you up for initial play-through and beyond. The following thread will help you find platform specific game-play and some. The single best recommendation is to seriously take your time and experiment before you commit or switch between game-mode and play style. Don’t be afraid of a do-over or two and if needs be ‘clear your save’ can be found in-game under options menu. Have fun acclimating, play-testing and configuring your control schemes to benefit you specifically long-term while you carry on with all-out galactic diplomacy. Having flown only stock ships I do see the throws of the dice for engineers just a way of distracting a huge part of the user base. Wouldn't it have been better being a engineered shop where you can buy x item upgraded and you can't get it anywhere else, this would have made better sense. It would also mean we have something to sink the billions of cred into. As for materials the markets at said engineer shops would buy them for a nice price. This would make it like everything else if you want it go get it if not don't. I haven't as I can't be bothered with the search for mats.

That must be why the NPC's are now only going to use missiles after the shields are down!

Ladies and Gentlemen. This is a forum for the discussion of the new Jurassic Park Evolution game. Please keep your posts relevant to that game. Thank You.

I do not believe that we will be doing any sort of 'KickStarter' for Jurassic World Evolution.

That's a topic for a completely different thread (i.e. it has already been running for some considerable time)....

That is one way of approaching it. A different way might be to allow substitution of materials / elements / data for others in the same "group", as I proposed here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/370339-Proposal-to-Permit-the-Substitution-of-Ingredients-for-Engineer-Modifications-Using-Different-Ingredients-From-the-Same-quot-Group-quot

These are pretty good, in my opinion - and the low "stick-out" makes them unlikely to be broken off when sticking out of an accessible USB socket: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00812F7O8/ref=twister_B00QRZVE7A

CD sourced audio would only require 1411(.2) kbps of data throughput, uncompressed (i.e. WAV). My FLAC library averages c.894 kbps. USB (even 1.1) would be fine - anything else is overkill from a purely music playback perspective.

It rather depended what one was doing and where - it also had much less to do - and there was only one path to Elite and that required combat. This game has three paths to Elite and only one of them requires the player to fire a shot at anything. While this game is a sequel to that game, it contains so much more.

Im moving from PC to PS4 around xmas time, reasons is simple I cannot afford the constant upgrade cycle anymore and the PS4 Pro should allow me to play ED quite nicely :)

The only reason you wouldnt last long doing that now is because the station itself will kill you, this never happened in Elite, Frontier, FFE. IIRC you lost all your cargo but it was a pittance.

For me the game has been made 'too casual' before you all jump at me I am a casual player that gets probably a few hours a week in the pilot seat. Look at it this way, ages ago we had difficulty: 1) We had the SCB exploit which made ships nigh on indestructible and this was nerfed with heat. All was well it was down to pilot skill. Pirates had HUGE bounties on their heads some could buy a fleet of condas if they died. 2) Bounties were nerfed to make it harder to get money from kills and tbh didnt make much change. 3) 2.1 NPC's were brilliant they could kick ya butt AND then get nasty, the public outcry was deafening and they got nerfed to oblivion. They were so stupidly easy to kill now and still are that I can do it in a Sidey with dual burst lasers which is why im Novice as soon as I get to Colonia im gonna hunt me some NPC ;) 4) Engineers raise their ugly head - this mechanic was the WORST move ever now players who spend 24/7 in the pilot seat and get the required goods can push their ships...

Along with the infinite lives and the ability to only lose what had been gained since the last save (that one could revert to at any time)?

Its a ploy by FDEV I tell ya to lull us all into a false sense of security then they will release the Thargoids on us so we are completely unprepared *walks off mumbling about the end is nigh* ;)

Going on the last time the issue was discussed in the DDF (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14580) - nope.... :D

A different approach might be to look at the K/D ratio for a player against NPCs (which should also probably take ship disparity between CMDR / NPC(s) into account) - the higher it gets, the more likely the player is to encounter an NPC with AI, ship and loadout that should offer a more challenging experience. The reason that Combat rank is not a measure of player capability is that, even if the player continues to destroy lower ranked NPCs, their Combat rank will (eventually) reach Elite - like the previous games, Elite rank is a measure of endurance rather than skill.

It will be interesting to see if Frontier share that opinion. Which apparently affects a tiny fraction of a percent of players - who are being contacted individually. It would seem that Frontier don't want to just "cut them off".... Other than total franchise units sold we don't know the demographic split between Horizons players and those who only own the base game - to suggest that Horizons players are in the majority, while plausible, is an assumption.

Regardless of the price of the software, the increased hardware requirements for Horizons may price running it out of reach of some existing players - it is not at all difficult to have sympathy for those players. As to Mac players - they have no option except to play on a PC - another financial hurdle (and not everyone wants / has the skills to run BootCamp on their Mac). In instances with only one player - more than that and it gets "complicated".

Not all players - those without Horizons (and those who cannot run Horizons) don't have access to any Engineers at all. It's unlikely, in my opinion, that Frontier would choose to alienate these players by making the game too difficult (in general rather than avoidable difficulty) for vanilla ships.

Yet in the previous games the player had "infinite lives" and could choose to restart from any save game that they had stored - not in this game though - endurance is the correct word, as that is all that was really needed to gain Elite ranking (unless one was playing self-imposed iron-man).

I am hoping I'm sending this message to the right person, a bit of a forum noob.

I watched the stream last night with the pixel bandits (and great job by the way). Many things caught my attention but two stuck out, the first was the idea of doing more open community events, yes please! The other was an event taking place in Birmingham this Sept??? I would love to meet up with fellow ED players at an events and think it's a great idea. Being a single dad however means it's be difficult to attend but I tried to find out more info on it and couldn't, any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks for an entertaining CODE episode, Ed. You looked like you were being put through the mill on that one. Never mind walking the plank - you seemed to be walking a fine line between entertainment and controversy!! Thankfully, entertainment won in the end. Credit to you, sir.

    Hello
I was recently given a warning, unfairly in my opinion. I would appreciate it if you took a look at the details and reasons they gave for this warning. Warning was issued by Javert.
