    Top tip Cmdr. Thank you.

I think it's a reasonably good idea. Not convinced by the "dirty drive failure" argument. OP's suggestion seems to have a reasonably good balance, bout time we have some modules that are useful for explorers. Z...

Engineering has, indeed, made a bit of a mess of balance, and I honestly feel that the "special affects" should have actually been additional stand alone engineering options, rather than bonuses. However, we have what we have, and engineering your shield gen is probably a very smart thing to do. Just remember also, PIP management can be key - 4 PIPs to shields doubles your effective shields. These are the sorts of things I mean when I say "learn to fly your ship", getting to know what effects every little change can make, whether it's to your benefit or not, and so on. It may be worth spending money on military armour, also. Sure, it'll slow you down, lower your jump range, perhaps take a nibble from your cr/hr, but, again, nothing hurts your cr/hr like the re-buy screen. If you're in open, and insist on staying there, you need to play to the conditions, and that means realising that NPC's are pretty useless (I still have hope the SJA's Beta 4 NPC's from 2.0 get brought back - that was genuinely a...

Ok so for repair limpets I'm.guessing I need the following: 3D prospector controller (G5 lightweight mod) Cargo hold Lots of limpets bought from founders world before we set off Have I missed anything?

Silly to have heat sink ammo materials only available within the inhabitted bubble. Surely that will change. Why else have FD given explorers G5 lightweight heatsink only to confine their construction to within a 200ly radius? Craziness. But, if this is the case then it's back to the drawing board. Probably now going to ditch lightweight PAs and lightweight heat sinks in favour of lightweight repair limpets. Remember with limpets they take up mass in that cargo hold and can only be synthesized in the bubble. This will be a long trip. Time to start planning sensibly for a 10 month deep space trip.

Totally agree with all of the above. Get 2 heat-sinks get them grade 5 lightweight engineered, the weight is virtually negligible. Always better having these toys on very long trips than hoping you had them 65kly out in the black. Plus post 2.4 you will be able to refill their spent ammo. Been there. Done that.

The shield is registering on Coriolis at 0% for an unknown reason. It is functional. 7a scoop is a personal pref. I have 900mil to play with and if the 80mil price tag offends I'll sell it. No depreciation on sold modules. I did try 7b. Considerably cheaper agree but the 4 sec speed diff between 7a and 7b makes a huge diff when making thousands of jumps. Take it from a DWE vet. Good points though. I'll Look into 7c purely from a power conservation perspective *A quick fiddle on Coriolis and a cup of strong Yorksire tea* Ok looked at your suggestions using my build posted.

On a completely different tangent I personally think this exped will be the last "great exped". It will be for me, I know that. Most of the challenging long term expeditions have already been done. We may still have a lot of systems to still explore but in terms of "bigness" this is up there with DWE. Unless FD release another galaxy to explore (alpha centarui anyone?) I think we are going to see the poor old milky way getting passe soon.

Yeah exploration trimmed in all aspects. The twin PAs are viable weapons but are purely fitted to fine tune fuel capacity and weight. Lightweight point defence is exactly that Lightweight shields and hull is good but not made for fighting

My anaconda is armed and defended but it wouldn't really do that well in a fight, it isn't a combat build, it is an exploration ship with 'discouargers'. Still maintains 61ly range. https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/anaconda?code=A0p0tiFklndnsxf4----1g1g--0202-----033h111y1y1yf3fr-v6432i2f.AwRj4llLPGIKA%3D%3D%3D.Aw18ZVA%3D.H4sIAAAAAAAAA22QP0vDUBTFr0kaYmt9TYzxzyA01o6C0klEQcRJwclJoTh0FEcRcRDBb%2BDUD1DE0cHRD%2BEooqLioKgggrW9x5MhAaFvuFzO73Duu1fUFZFujsU%2Ft0WKIbvKPLvCiSOCPl1MeeB1gejCiJj9d8ArDZFbGiXcSXiLfFjy5De%2FwOguQ8LLDjB5OkGnreNpUtjmlGDZp%2FPsm86GR%2B7oTMLtJMl5AczRJ4CczmVqTYEph4HVBrt%2Bd1Akv8688vUPED9zJlytZ989vGdI7QmY3vwiGtCNFHWChMe3VIs91ZJW061M%2FQMIWo9U%2FZ7qiNbSBLP3SvXqjmpZV7OPNOk1B29cdIcrhQ9tnimwRKxjruUv0V1ZYylssyDWreygK7MiY9ECjwP59%2F4AuosSarYBAAA%3D.EwegLCAMUgjAbDApgQwOYBskjpPQ&bn=Terra%20Nova%20(with%20teeth)

Shields - not at all. I always wondered why there wasn't a "heat shield" type shield generator - very good against lasers and slowing down over-heating, but much weaker against kinetics and "landing" damage. Z...

They have to see you and actually shoot you first. That's the point - once they have seen me, it doesn't matter what they use, so long as I've gotten close enough to the letterbox to survive. Also - Lobey makes a great point, being aware of what's going on helps. If a bunch of other traders have just jumped in, let them go and take the fire first, pop your heat sink and sneak in while no one's watching. Z...

It basically sucks the heat out of the ship, it makes you invisible on scanners, and it also means you can't be targeted, so only people who can see you, and can aim with fixed weapons will be able to take shots at you - this is a huge advantage. I'd probably also get a dark paintjob. Would be nice if FD allowed an "external lights off" option... Having said that, this is what open is about, and nothing, but nothing is tastier than salt mined from the tears of griefers that can't kill you because you've outflown them. Not to mention, it's incredibly satisfying to be able to do it all the time. Z...

Go to Youtube and watch the T7 git gud guide. I can't link due to language, but it is genuinely funny, and has a lot to offer in terms of a good set up. Basically, a reasonable shield, good thrusters for speed, and learn to fly your ship. I can get any of my ships from drop out to inside the station in about 25 seconds (that's my Anaconda), going cold with heat sinks will help you avoid detection until it's too late for the blockaders. Z...

I'll just leave this right here. There was also a 100+ CMDR jump, but that instance was getting flakey. We hit near 110 CMDR's, from memory, before people started dropping. If we could get stable 50-70 player instances, that would be pretty cool. Z...

Great guide OP, though it saddens me that exploration is now so trivial that you can get Elite in 5 days, it screams to me that FD have their requirements set a bit too low, compared to combat and trade. Reaching Elite for exploration back in Season one is now a bit of a source of pride for me, personally these days. Z...
