That would be a bad implementation on FDev's side. My understanding is that if you approach a planet the object types in range are communicated from the server to the clients (players). The objects themselves (way points, cache) need to be available as templates at the client. They can be reused. The text for the way points etc. is nothing else as currently a text at a tourist beacon. It is fetch from the server, too.

Why is that? They surrounding may be generated but in a consistent way. Its a question about how to place those objects. I think of driving around with your SRV and place the boxes etc. like you would drop a cargo container. This object's location is not much different to that of a station.

Current planets look good. It is an enjoyment for me to decent to a planets surface and drive around. However, there are some thinks that look quite odd to me. As FDev plans to improve the looks of the planets in "BEYOND" here are some aspects which I think could improve the appearance of the planets: * Current surfaces seem to have one basic color and one or two colors for creators and canyons. Looking at the (real) images of Pluto, that is not the case in real live. There are larger and smaller patches and other patches which have quite a different look to them. Planets collect all sorts of materials during e.g. "the great bombardment". Some elements here and there but usually not uniformly. * Plates. Currently I cannot see any kind of plates or ridges where plates collide. Here different kinds of material meet each other creating e.g. a subduction zone. Plates with slightly different heights would give a planet a more natural look. * Current planets seem to have one point for a given coordinate....

In 2017 lots of people around the world enjoy Geocaching. Some of the stories in ED have a similar character, but they have to be setup by FDev. If we would have the tools to do Galaxychaching people could create their own cache and others can enjoy them. What would we required: * Ability to create a cache on any location on a planet. Maybe not withing 4k of a station or POI and >1km from the next cache apart. This is to avoid clusters of caches blocking "normal" gameplay. Maybe your designers can think of some cache boxes from which the creator of the cache can choose. * Once the cache was found the name of the commander will be added to a list which can be viewed at the location. The entry should contain the commander's name and the time stamp when she/he got there. * As with geocaching, commanders can take one item out of that cache if they put something in (1:1). This could be any kind of cargo. Which makes it interesting to get there with a cargo in your hold ;-). * Either we create a dedicated...
