FWIW I'm on 122 and still in the top 50%. Probably dangerously close to top 25% according to that but I won't get another chance before tomorrow morning.

P.S. I just remembered why I didn't pursue the amazon return. When I followed the "Start a return" process it took me to a list of "Your Orders". Many of the items in this list had a very encouraging "Return or Replace Items" button next to it. The Oculus order did not. I didn't take that as a good sign and pursued the Oculus route instead.

It probably comes as no surprise that I like SRV racing. Here's a couple of examples (one of me and one of SRV driver extraordinaire Cmdr Nookie MrSmith). Links to race threads in the video descriptions. Both races are now over but I dare say we'll be hosting new ones soon.

Really? I didn't have much luck finding an obvious link for Amazon support of this nature so I tried Oculus direct. What's the best contact for amazon for this kind of thing?

I don't know if you (the OP) saw it but Obsidian Ant featured your survey quite heavily in his latest video!

Nope, either one will do. You only need both in order to activate the "galaxy projector" at the heart of the base. Not so tedious if you don't bother with the anti-corrosive racks. P.S. you might enjoy reading about a little adventure I had with this a while back. I didn't have Palin's racks and it also contains a little tip about propping the base door open by leaving your UA just outside. By the way, regarding video recording - does anyone know how to get AMD ReLive to recognise Elite as a game for recording? I've given up with OBS for the moment, as I've had trouble getting a smooth recording and also had poor audio. ReLive works fine without any fiddling about and seems better than the older Raptr software, but as it doesn't recognise ED as a game running I had to "record desktop" to make it record - so it's recording any alt-tabbing that I do, rather than just the game window. I'll do some Googling to look for a solution, just wondering if there are any other AMD users who know how to fix this.

I missed this thread until a day or two ago. As there's no deadline, I'll almost certainly have a go at this in between BRC races. I'll be in my Asp-X The Nomad, so I'm likely to have about 40t of rares teas and beermats on board in a Neutron-hopping configuration.

I count in 3 out of 8 of those CG figures, but will never appear in the steam figures that Eymerich quoted, as I bought direct from FD and never bothered with a steam key. I'm probably playing 3-4 days per week on average, on PC. On the other hand, I'm also 2 of DB's sales since I bought a second PC account, but I rarely use the alt account (it stays in the bubble if I go out exploring), so that account is possibly dead to FD for future revenue.

Oh I agree about the integral headphones, I think they're absolutey brilliant and I'm a big fan of over ear headphones anyway so there's no question of replacing them one way or the other. The real question is do I want to replace the entire headset (which basically works fine apart from the broken headphone arm) at Oculus's expense (and quite rightly so, the product broke in under a year) but with a certain amount of hassle on my own part (and a small but geuine risk that the new headset will have some new fault such as a dodgy OLED), or keep my old (but faithful) headset, swallow the cost and buy myself a replacement set of over-ear headphones? Having written that I'm tending towards the latter. I'll wait and see what Oculus say first tho.

Thanks for the info. I have everything but I guess I might end up weighing up the hassle factor of packing it all away, posting it back and waiting for a replacement against the option of simply buying a new set of replacement headphones for 39. If they're really going to replace the entire headset (rather than just the headphones) then I guess I also have to weigh up the pro's and con's of replacing a 1yr old (but working perfectly) headset with a brand new headset (potentially prone to its own set of manufacturing deficiencies). What would you folks do in this situation?

It's possible to do this without the anti-corrosive cargo holds although I'd recommend taking an AMFU along for the trip. Getting the UA is easy enough (e.g. from alien crash site on HIP 17862 6 C A, Coords: 30.3398, -98.5876) but the USS's required for the UP's are still proving hard to get as far as I know.

Oculus are currently investigating. I've just described what happened in more detail and attached a bunch of photos of the broken headphone as requested. I'll keep this thread posted as to what happens next.

Congratulations to cookiehole and to all those who won the 'not as good as cookiehole' places, and to those who just had fun like me. :) I wish I'd managed to be a little more competitive, I need to get my planetary approach / orbital cruise skills sharpened as I'm fairly sure that a more skilful pilot could have made a run in The Nomad about three minutes faster than mine. I don't think that this was a race that particularly disadvantaged the AspX, so I was hoping to at least get within a couple of seconds of CMDR Jak's excellent Adder time. I'm going to watch all the videos to see how to do things better, so far I've just watched cookiehole's Crater Creator run - wow... I'm especially impressed with how you skim over the top of the different orbital zones while getting your vertical speed to the correct levels. It's also nice that your entry into OC at MH wasn't very much different to my final 'too fast for OC' attempt. I'm glad that I sat back and waited for you to pass after messing up...
