Exactly, yes. And that's why by-the-numbers comparisons are not always super relevant. Becauses your by-the-numbers comparison doesn't determine my reality - what I see is still what I see. I still fly how I fly. And I AM a better combat pilot in a Viper. That's why you can't ignore the human factor. It's still there, if you ignore it to make your numbers prettier.

Meh. You just highly value being able to quantify things, it seems. I like Engineers, overall. I don't think it's a mess. The importance you place on objectivity, reflected in your valuing sterile theorycrafting and numbers, is (ironically) entirely subjective. :) And I'd also argue it's not objective, because you're subjectively choosing to ignore the factors you can't quantify.
