Are you familiar with the concept of the "unreliable narrator"? It can be a useful device to advance a plot but it's considered bad-form to rely on it to mislead an audience. If FDev wanted to create ambiguity then what they should have done would be to have ships destroyed by what appeared to be Thargoid attacks but also create some sort of content which alluded to INRA (or the Black Flight, or some other shady outfit) using Thargoid weaponry themselves. Sure, FDev could still introduce some kind of plot-twist which reveals that it wasn't the Thargoids who carried out those attacks but that would be a seriously halfassed thing to do and would demonstrate a poor grasp of storytelling. Personally, I get the impression that FDev have tried to depict the galaxy as a place filled with petty bickering an in-fighting between factions and they've introduced the Thargoids as a straightforward enemy who we're all supposed to unite to fight against. That being the case, it's a little ironic that some...

When I approached "Bris" Dekker, I did so with some apprehension, apart from what it took to unlock her, I was concerned that my CMNDR would leave with everything he went in with would be there when he came back. An unfortunate name choice or a tip-off to her "requirements"?:S

I agree w/ Ziljan, until they start bubbling over, I'm going about my business. However, I have the components ready (except for the pulse neutralizer, will look soon). If they start affecting orbitals and outposts and/or actually interdicting as NPC's do, then it's a different level. For now, watchful waiting.

I did a bit of an experiment with about fifty rolls for DD5. It appeared that there was a less than 10% chance of getting 135+. I got two 137's if I recall and kept one. So less than 5% chance for 137 and no luck on anything over that. Would need more rolls to try to see what would happen if/when that 140 showed. This was a Corvette-sized thruster but I believe I was in my Anaconda so maybe Anacondas are cursed as well or just that thruster size? Sometimes I get the feeling that a hard wall has been put in place for some of these mods (cue the tin foil hat comments).

Ramming is not only an issue in this particular incident, but is problematic outside stations as well. Unless it has been fixed recently, in open space, I can ram another ship to the point of taking their shields down without becoming hostile/wanted. If this isn't an attack, then what is? I don't do this as a habit, not "realistic" to take advantage of a failed mechanism, but others may do so. This is another one of those tricky conditions FD needs to balance. Make station defenses so draconian that everyone is fearful to make a simple landing if they deviate from a flight envelope or, make it that the station takes over flight control upon entering the no-fire zone, landing is requested and pilots all craft in for landing w/o CMNDR being able to input changes (smuggling takes a hit and we all know the shortcomings of a DC).

So, that's what it would cost us in the store, to get an SRV that works, and has a docking computer. :)

Uhuh, I've been hyperdicted a few times without incident. Happened the other night and there were 4 Thargoids to meet me, surrounded my ship and started pounding me before my systems had even rebooted. Dunno if it's what they were trying to do or whether I just got lucky but my cargo hatch failed, I dropped my Thargoid stuff and they seemed to trip over each other while trying to scoop it up, which gave me a chance to escape.

What happens when you try to traverse a side-slope with that thing? :p Nice looking machine though. I like it when thinks are properly engineered for a given purpose.

I get offered one every time I land at OO. I am already allied to all the factions at OO so I dunno if that helps.

Nah, The idea of making the effort to become allied with a faction and being rewarded with better missions is fundamental part of the game. If anything, it just needs to be made clear to the player that this is a useful thing to do. Perhaps all that's required would be to add some text to the "mission successful" dialogue to remind new players of this? "Thank you for your services CMDR. If you continue to assist us then you'll find we have plenty of lucrative work available"

Are you, by any chance, carrying extra Thargoid stuff? The other night I noticed that if I tried to stockpile stuff I wouldn't get a new mission issued until I sold it on the black-market. I wasn't sure if it was a bug or if they were trying to force us to make a journey for each mission.

They're not. Thargoid technology samples. Thargoid resin. Thargoid biological matter. All freely available from a Crashed Scout Ship site near you.

It's quite possible to earn a billion credits in a dozen hours (or thereabouts) IF you're willing to apply yourself to the task. Do people really want to earn credits faster, or think a dozen hours is an unreasonable amount of time to invest?

Nah, you're not playing it "wrong" if you're doing what you want to do. If you want to earn a billion credits in a week, and you're not, then you're doing something wrong.

That's what I thought. Does pad-loitering not eventually escalate to laser-death for the perpetrator?

The problem seems to be that some people see CMDRs with lots of credits and assume that's the result of amassing them with an ease that is no longer possible. The reality, of course, is that I could reset my save today and have a billion credits by next week IF I wanted to, as could anybody else who plays the game for more than a couple of hours a week.

Uhuh, The whole thing is a can of worms TBH. I'm sure we're all aware that the SRV handles like it's auditioning for a role in a "Fast & Furious" film whenever you try to make a turn on level ground. That would seem to suggest a fundamental lack of mechanical grip, possibly magnified as a result of low gravity (although it happens on high g worlds too). And yet, on side-slopes, it sticks to the surface like it was bitten by a radioactive spider. And then there's the issue of CoG. That pic' I posted was taken on something like a 70 side-slope.

It's also why they're cut into the side of a mountain to remove any side-slope. What's counter-intuitive (because it's just plain wrong) is the idea that a vehicle might be able to traverse a side-slope more easily than going straight up or down.

A familiar name from the days of MWO 2014 or 15. Are you still playing that?
Anyway, best regards and good to see you sir!
May the High Guard ever be at your back, and may you have your own Ashanti High Lightning to bail you out from the evil Elite Pirates. (I just saw that that rule book would cost 17 Euro now. Gulp!)

"Are you people working under the assumption that playing Elite is meant to be fun?"

"The elite dictionary does not have the word sympathy in it but has about 500 definitions of stupidity"

The contempt with which the game treats it's players is not accidental. It's by design. The game hates you, that's just the way it is."
