I truly found myself in Elite Dangerous this morning. There I was working the community goal in the Kaal system bounty hunting and as I scanned a ship, low and behold I popped up, yes me as an NPC. As one of the original Kickstarter backers, one of the rewards was to name an NPC and I ended up giving it my full name, thinking it would be nice to think there was a little bit of me somewhere out there in the galaxy - but never thought I would actually come face-to-face with myself! Managed to grab a screenshot for prosperity before the alliance police swooped in and blew my 'wanted' counter part up. Any other backers come across any NPC's they named. What the the odds, and is that the end of my counterpart or will he respawn to fight another day?

VR performance and image quality has increased with 2.4. That is quite an improvement for me, as i play in VR exclusively. I have used a HOTAS for Elite since day one, so i never had actual problems, navigating the maps and UI. The system map is a bit slow, but honestly, i am still hoping for an orey style map, instead of an improvement for the 2D variant.

You mean Super Sampling and/or HMD quality. I use HMD quality at 1.5, which delivers a good compromise of quality and image sharpness. In my opinion, the 1080ti is the only card to go with. The few extra percent are, what the other 10xx cards are missing in Elite. The VR experience has been a total blast, since i own that card (coming from a GTX970). In space there will be only minor differences i guess, but when it gets crowded or you get close to planets, the 1080ti starts to shine. Worth every cent for me. The 1080ti allows, to put the full 100% of the terrain work on the GPU, so your processor is free to do other stuff. This is especially good, when you only own an i5 processor, like me. Here is a direct comparison 1080ti vs 1070 (taken from GPUBoss)

I am using a 1080ti and 32 gigs of RAM on maxed out settings with everything turned on (incl. ambient occlusion and bloom effects). Luckily i dont get nausea, when the fps stay above 60, which was the case before, but with the new update, the graphics are noticeable more performant. Details have increased on stations, outposts and surface installations as well. I spent half an hour at a surface port, driving around and enjoying the increased performance and the more defined visuals. There is so much to see, when you are up close. The art team of Elite really deserves some Kudos for this massive amount of assets, they have created. I will definitely take my time in the future to inspect things a lot more closely. Taking a station just as a place with docking pads isn´t the right way to appreciate the awesome job, the people at Frontier do.

And you have selected your canopy from the modules list and actually selected "repair" and it did not repair the canopy? That would be extremely odd and worth a bug report...

Maybe a ship would fit in that tank?

It totally makes sense, that heatsinks are made of manufactured materials. I like it this way and it keeps the balance a lot better, than to just allow to use things lying around on the surface of alien planets. This way, you need to keep track of your materials and prepare for an exploration trip if you want to use this feature, which is totally okay, because we could do everything without it, just like before.

That was my primary hope, that when hull repair limpets were introduced, space hazards would get a decent buff. And please make it a hard decision to take either a shield, an AFMU or a repair limpet controller... the shield could definitely be used to deflect radiation hazards f.e., while the different repair units could deal with the damage, done to unshielded vessels. It would definitely endorse multiplayer exploration, as we may need different loadouts flying in a wing. And finally, exploration would become, what it was in ye olde days... hard and dangerous.

I'm completing the bounty hunting task at the Kaal community goal and noticed a few odd things? 1. I'm getting a really slow framefate and lots of pausing and stuttering, is this because there are lots of online users in this area? 2. While in supercuuise I keep seeing a small blue portal opening up and then disappearing? Is this something to do with the Thargroids and whichspace? 3. There are instances where a wanted ship was simply sitting not moving outside the station and lots shooting at it was like frozen, it's shields didn't go down - like a ghost ship? 4. I've also seen some H Dumfire missiles just floating around - is a bug?

Yes, a timed delay would make this mechanic a lot better.

Played ED last night very late! Go up to continue this morning and on launching its coming up asking me to link my account to the frontier store which I already did when I bought it? Gone through the process of filling in my account details and confirming the verification code sent and get an email back to say my account is successfully liked - but then on trying to launch it loops back again asking for the same info??? Anyone else hit this problem? Saturday 8:00 am UK
