Seriously. This is not helpful. It is not believable dialogue. In its current state, it detracts from immersiveness. I don't really need it at all, I definitely don't need it when it's flat wrong, and I ESPECIALLY don't need to hear it TEN TIMES ABOUT THE SAME TARGET!!!

Mine do all the time. Pay closer attention. Also multicannons are worse.

Oh. I wondered why those were limited strictly to her faction. I think you're in the wrong part of the multiverse. XD

Aisling Duval is buying up huge numbers of Imperial Slaves. I suppose everyone assumes--and she probably claimed somewhere--that she's setting them free. I don't believe it. I think Aisling Duval is secretly handing her slaves over to the Thargoids for experimentation, because she's part of a cult that worships them.

Right now we have Earthlike worlds, uninhabitable water worlds (generally with atmospheres that aren't breathable), and... everything else. I think we need worlds that are habitable, but not quite Earthlike; worlds that are a bit more valuable than Water Worlds, but a bit less than full Earthlikes, to the explorer. I'd like to see worlds that are poor in water and mostly desert. I know, I know, without enough oceans and plankton, or forests, to sustain their atmospheres, they'd lose them; these worlds would probably be fairly rare, the result of recent cataclysms that caused the water to be dissociated into hydrogen and oxygen, with the hydrogen lost into space and the atmosphere--briefly--extra oxygen-rich. If they don't get settled with colonies industrious enough to import atmospheric gases on a regular basis, they'd eventually degenerate, maybe in just a few thousand years. Arctic worlds--I think there will turn out to be cold worlds with breathable atmospheres; all you need is an ocean rich in...

Good points, thanks. Have always wanted to try voice attack, been looking for another excuse to shout at my PC :D OK thanks, a 980 Ti is the one new component I have. The PC around it is old but coping fine currently. My previous thought was wait for v2 headset + PC upgrade, but having tried VR, I'd like to not hang around and get more enjoyment from the game sooner rather than later. Rather than rush in though, I'll wait to compare new v2 sets with the cheaper v1s Re glasses, I hadn't thought of dedicated lenses for these. I'm short sighted but wearing glasses didn't cause an issue on the demo. Longer periods might be a different story, good to know the option is there.

Thanks for the warm welcome and your enthusiasm :) Leaning heavily towards the Rift as the new 'cheap' entry point to VR. Sounds like a unit plus a 4 port Inateck hub will suffice with my current machine. Am curious to know why people incorporate extra sensors. I imagine it increases positional accuracy, but presume this only benefits 'room VR', and not sitting down to play Elite? Thx for the info! It does sound very appealing as a 'v2' headset, but it would cost me a lot more overall because my ageing machine would not cut the mustard to supply 8k (likely even with 4k upsampling). My GFX card is good but a PCI 1.0 mb is probably not enough... ;) However I will definitely follow progress. Perhaps a year down the line and I'll see how it compares to the new Rift and Vive

Thanks, really useful to know. Just acquired a new work laptop with plenty of USB 2.0, 3.0, and C connections, but it will be one controller and def not a gaming spec gfx card, and unfortunately my gaming rig is now very old school in this regard

Do we know that this unit will definitely be compatible with Elite et al? Assuming that it will require a significant improvement in GPU and CPU power to run at higher res. Do you think that the 'Santa Cruz' could spawn the Rift 2 within 6 months? http://www.techradar.com/news/oculus-rift-2-release-date-news-and-rumors Again sorry if this is old news, but it's all new to me :) Also, the recommended Rift spec states 3x USB 3.0 and 1x USB 2.0 ports - pretty sure I don't have any USB 3.0 ports as my desktop is too old. What's that needed for - do the headset, controllers and IR sensors each need their own port?
